  • Sharper carp hooks in seconds! We test Nash Tackle's PinPoint Hook Doctor | Carp Fishing 2021
    “Anyone who takes a carp fishing hook which is less sharp than it could be (from the packet) and tries to argue that it is just as effective as a super-honed one, is deluding themselves." states carp fishing veteran, Adam Penning. But hand sharpening a hook to perfection isn't easy - nor quick. Enter... the Nash Pinpoint Hook Doctor, which speeds up the process to mere seconds! In this video we reveal how we found this motor-driven hook sharpening device and whether it's actually worth its £79.99 price tag.

    I am getting the strong impression that modern carp fishing is about buying lots of gear instead of using skills.

      if you had every item Nash produce you would need a flatbed truck and double power barrows to transport it

    A small file and a little practice is a heck of a lot cheaper. You don't need a gimmick to be able to sharpen hooks. Plus with a file you can sharpen the hook on the rig.

    Didn't this come out a year or two ago and got a right slating for the price? Is this the mark 2 version or was it taken away and then re-released hoping for a better response? Massively overpriced for what it is (£80 plus another £20 for the hook vice) when I can buy a nice Jag file for around a tenner and NGT do a not too dissimilar vice for £7. If you must go electric then pet claw grinders, as pointed out by James N, are available for under £7.

    I will stick to KamaKura’s where I need an ultra sharp hook & the Jag files/stones & vice for other jobs. Plenty of time to sharpen a hook with files/stones on the bank whilst waiting for a take anyway or whilst watching tv at home

    Pack of decent hooks costs £5 for 10 over time if your hooks last twice as long with this thing then you are getting your moneys worth eventually. I don’t hate on it like others here. You either buy one or you don’t. It’s nice to have choice then it’s up to you what you choose to use.

    Rod eye lubricant? Hook length moisturiser?

    • @OliverQueen1974
      @OliverQueen1974 3 года назад

      Rod eye/line lubricant has been available for many years. Drop of glycerin stops rod eyes freezing up & Kryston Greased Lightning & the Gardner Fluoro treatments work well also.
      Admit that this grinder is not required.

    And the size of it compared to a hook file... ridiculous 🤣🤣
