Why is a bath blanket used for this task? Is it specifically to keep the patient warm? What is the difference between using a bath blanket or the already-provided sheet for this task?
You are not required to use a privacy blanket for this skill - but you must keep the patient covered for their comfort. Think of it this way: your perception of temperature is different from the patient's because you are fully dressed and very active (the temperature will feel warm to you) while they are in a thin hospital gown and inactive (the temperature will feel colder to them). If you take away the sheet, they will REALLY feel cold, and probably a bit exposed due to the lack of clothing. Since we have to turn them and place a pillow behind their back and between their legs, the sheet will probably be in the way for those steps. If you remove the sheet, you must use a blanket. If you choose to use the sheet instead, make sure it covers the patient at all times. Hope this helps!
We wish you luck on your exam tomorrow...you might want to check out our free online test prep as you get ready to test. It has videos, questions, interactive lessons, activities and more to help you get ready for the exam! It's FREE and located at courses.4YourCNA.com. Check it out and let us know how you do tomorrow! We'll be thinking of you!
I REALLY LOVE TAKING CARE OF PEOPLE,I USE TO WORK AT NURSING HOME YEAR'S AGO.AN I WANT IT AGAIN,PLEASE WISH ME LUCK ON STATE EXAM TEST.THIS FRIDAY.DETROIT$$$$$
Good afternoon. I noticed that you didn't check the patient's ID before starting your task. Is that not required in Florida? I live in NY, and I wanted to know when is that you check a patient's ID, after you wash your hands or before you wash your hands?
Do you have to do everything in order, like what if I provide privacy after I come back from washing my hands? The videos are a little bit different from what they gave me on paper in school
You will remove the bath blanket after the skill is done. The purpose of the blanket is to keep the patient warm and protect their privacy while giving you access to their back and legs. After the pillows have been placed, you can remove the blanket because you don't need it anymore. Just make sure the patient is covered with a sheet. Hope this helps!
you have to put the side rail up! and you have to instruct the examiner to come on the opposite side to view what your doing 🤦🏻♀️ but aside from all that she did it all good even positioning his legs and arms like that i never learned that in school that was pretty cool
Hi 4your CNA, I hope you're able to respond to this comment. In my class, we're told to place the call light in the arm that is laying flat, not the top arm. It seems this would be more comfortable for the patient and would ensure that it does not fall out of his/her grip. Was this a mistake in the video?
How would you do this with a PD patient that is not able to move their limbs like the above "patient"? He is very tight/stiff, had trouble making any movement. Also, he has a king size bed to make it worse.
Washing your hands for the state exam is way more technical than you think! There are very specific steps that have to be performed. Learn what the steps are...and why they matter...here: ruclips.net/video/XR_JvNcRZYs/видео.html
Agreed! :-) Done properly, this position is extremely comfortable and supports all extremities well, resulting in reduced muscle fatigue. Thank you for your comment and best of luck!
These videos are performed according to graded checkpoints for the exam. Our skills book also reviews theory related to the skills and may be a good addition to any study you may be doing to prepare for the exam. These supplies can be found on our website 4YourCNA.com
You can do this skill without the privacy blanket, but the patient must stay covered with something (you can use the sheet, but the sheet is tucked in which makes it hard to access the legs for positioning, placing the pillows and turning). Generally, a privacy blanket is preferred because it can be moved to access each body part as needed, while maintaining warmth and privacy. The pillow between the legs is placed so that it cushions both the knees and the ankles (lengthwise). Thank you for your question.
These are some awesome videos, but every time she is doing certain skills, she is NOT raising the rails when she is side lying. He could roll to the floor.
I just wanna say thank you so much to Ms.Patty.

Hope this helps!
thank you my step mom now really gets the whole thing you are the best

Good afternoon. I noticed that you didn't check the patient's ID before starting your task. Is that not required in Florida? I live in NY, and I wanted to know when is that you check a patient's ID, after you wash your hands or before you wash your hands?
I'm new but always loved these lessons ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome and informative videos. So accurate and to the point. No fluff . Love these video! PTL!

i pass my state test in nyc

I love her video. Are teacher she expected differently now I’m have scary on test. How tell me what you have test ???
For the skills test do I need to memorize the items I will be using or they will give me a care plan and I just have to grab everything?
I got this skill and I passed thank you so much

That's was one of my skills and I pass my exam today, you video willy help me
Congratulations! Best of luck!
Do you have to do everything in order, like what if I provide privacy after I come back from washing my hands? The videos are a little bit different from what they gave me on paper in school
I take my test September 2!! I’m so nervous for the written any tips??
Do you take the bath blanket out once you put the top sheet over the patient/over the bath blanket ?
You will remove the bath blanket after the skill is done. The purpose of the blanket is to keep the patient warm and protect their privacy while giving you access to their back and legs. After the pillows have been placed, you can remove the blanket because you don't need it anymore. Just make sure the patient is covered with a sheet. Hope this helps!
you have to put the side rail up! and you have to instruct the examiner to come on the opposite side to view what your doing 🤦🏻♀️ but aside from all that she did it all good even positioning his legs and arms like that i never learned that in school that was pretty cool
This is for Prometric, your state may have different requirements
Hi 4your CNA, I hope you're able to respond to this comment. In my class, we're told to place the call light in the arm that is laying flat, not the top arm. It seems this would be more comfortable for the patient and would ensure that it does not fall out of his/her grip. Was this a mistake in the video?
When you say make any corrections by the end of your skill, does that mean you tell the evaluator what you did wrong do they don't fail you?
Thank you for your question! Please see this video on corrections for more information: ruclips.net/video/hs3NQLsliX0/видео.html Best of luck!
My working. Great video 🙏🏼
Hello Ms Patty is their any arrangement for ssn if the taker doesnt have an ssn? 😔
How would you do this with a PD patient that is not able to move their limbs like the above "patient"? He is very tight/stiff, had trouble making any movement. Also, he has a king size bed to make it worse.
I have a question. Do we have wash our hands every skill?
Washing your hands for the state exam is way more technical than you think! There are very specific steps that have to be performed. Learn what the steps are...and why they matter...here: ruclips.net/video/XR_JvNcRZYs/видео.html
Thank you for your reply. Already got my CNA license last month. 🙏🏻
As long as you know how to do the skill is fine right? Or do you have to say it word for word as she says it?
Omg they used me in class for an example for this skill it is so relaxing
Agreed! :-) Done properly, this position is extremely comfortable and supports all extremities well, resulting in reduced muscle fatigue. Thank you for your comment and best of luck!
Do we lock the bed at any point during the skill?
Are all the videos that are on this channel the things you need to know for the test?? or is there anything else??
These videos are performed according to graded checkpoints for the exam. Our skills book also reviews theory related to the skills and may be a good addition to any study you may be doing to prepare for the exam. These supplies can be found on our website 4YourCNA.com
Is a privacy blanket definitely needed for this skill & should there be another pillow to cushion the ankles?
You can do this skill without the privacy blanket, but the patient must stay covered with something (you can use the sheet, but the sheet is tucked in which makes it hard to access the legs for positioning, placing the pillows and turning). Generally, a privacy blanket is preferred because it can be moved to access each body part as needed, while maintaining warmth and privacy. The pillow between the legs is placed so that it cushions both the knees and the ankles (lengthwise). Thank you for your question.
These are some awesome videos, but every time she is doing certain skills, she is NOT raising the rails when she is side lying. He could roll to the floor.
taking mine in NY this tuesday,01/17/16 . wish me luck guys!
+Priscilla Adofo Good luck! Let us know how you do!
