Spoiler alert, if you guys (or gals) are node.js programmers, you wont get any node data (talk is from 2013), but you will get lots of API design secrets regarding how to reason about certain aspects of your APIs. The first half is definitely worth your time. The jQuery methods he speaks of are pretty directly relevant to your node.js module methods. Building an API that has great developer UX will give yourself great UX and make the code stand the test of time. We spend most of our time reading code, not writing code, so this is why the talk contains great content you should absorb.

Correlation between design and software development IS in fact important !
Correlation between API and development cycle velocity : I think having a real world proof of this correlation would definitively illustrate the economical value of a good design API. Maybe digging toward Yahoo! would help !
