RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES.
Well into the second generation of a grand televangelist tradition, the renowned Gemstone family is living proof that worship pays dividends in all sizes, including their megachurch. Danny McBride stars as Jesse Gemstone, the eldest of three grown Gemstone offspring, who looks to lead in his father’s footsteps, but finds his past sins jeopardizing the family ministry.
Playing Jesse’s siblings are Adam Devine (“Pitch Perfect”) as pseudo-hipster Kelvin, the youngest of the trio and a thorn in Jesse’s side, and Edi Patterson (HBO’s “Vice Principals”) as Judy, who is secretly living with her fiancé and dreams of escaping the Gemstone compound. John Goodman (HBO’s “Treme”, “The Connors”) is Eli Gemstone, the family’s patriarch, who finds himself at a crisis point as he mourns the loss of his wife, Aimee-Leigh (Jennifer Nettles), and questions the Gemstones’ mission.
I hope this show goes 10 seasons. Fuckin love it!

Edi is unreal in this show. I laughed for ten minutes straight at one of her lines and delivery. Must be hell for other people on set not laughing.

I love the fact that they show that the church is no different than any other business. It's about selling something and making money they just happen to sell God and Salvation.
It's very different though as a church is non-profit and sells an invisible product.
They all talked about how different from a regular church it was.
Having lived in the Charleston area since 2001 it is really cool that Danny has fallen in love with the Lowcountry like I did. He seems like such a down to earth humble guy. I have so much respect for him that he didn't do the usual liberal Hollywood anti-Christian propaganda show. Yes the show covers the indiscretions & trappings of these celebrity pastors & mega churches but he didn't go over the top & made them fallible like all the rest of us. Can't wait til Season 2. Until then I'll just keep "Misbehavin".

There is a season 2. Its been announced already
Season 2 shooting starts 2021. They got 2 days into filming when COVID hit. Thankfully they just announced they’re doing a Christmas special for December 2020 as an appetizer since season 2 will be late.
John Goodman confirmed in an Esquire interview in January 2021, that season 2 will resume filming after season 3 of The Connors finishes. They had about 2 days of filming done before everything shut down due to Covid.

The show is NOTHING like I thought it was going to be like... My first impression of the show, was that it was going to be a Hollywood's liberal version, mocking religeon and the south. I binge watched the entire season in 2 days, and loved it.. I hope they do another season soon.
I was also a little bit apprehensive because I thought they were going to be making fun of Christians, but it wasn't like that at all. I especially like the way it ended.
I didn't even recognize Edi!!! She's so pretty. Plus she's one of the funniest people on the planet!!!

I have followed Danny since Pineapple Express. For me he stole that movie as soon as he popped up in it. Since then I have always thought he needed more lead roles. I think he works best when he is the creates his characters and the cco stars around him.

Everyone seems to like to work with Danny...Goggins and Goodman are beast actors...Danny is a terrible actor but a great writer, and very funny...Edi is SO F'N HAWT!
