Glenda, I am 80 and they have years old. When I first started to net and crochet pretty much, all we had was winter and coats and Clark. So that’s what I used to have blankets I made decades ago and they look as good as new. I use a lot of red heart, because the colors are bright, I know my items will last, and I know that after I wash my items and dry them with the dryer sheet they are nice and super soft. I get pretty ticked off when people talk badly about red heart, yarns, because I know, that red heart is the largest seller of urine in this country. Please excuse the no cap, in any mistakes. I am having to use the speaker mode to write these days, because my glaucoma makes it really hard to use the keyboard. But I can still crochet, and Knit. The muscle memory is still there. And by the way, I love that Afghan.
Thank you for your easy to follow tutorials. I recommend you to everyone who enjoys creating pretty projects with yarn. You're an amazing patient person to make tutorials for us to learn from. Thank you again!!❤
We've had these in Canada for about 10 years and the big size really is absolutely fantastic if you don't like having lots of ends to weave in. Whenever I posted with them I always had americans ask where I got them and was surprised they weren't already available down there as it's so rare we'd have a product like this when the states didn't. I hope everyone can find the ones they are looking for! Fun video! xx
What?! Ten years?! Well i see how it is now, lol. Were they reasonable priced? Those giants cakes i have seen were high priced down here that i would never buy one. But $20 is reasonable, i think. But i would still buy on sale 14.99..
@gaylescovel7308 very reasonable imo. Much cheaper by the yard than anything else you could buy unless you were at a spinrite tent sale! Pre pandemic they ran between $15.99 and $19.99 in store (in Canadian Dollars), the 16oz balls were $8.99 or $9.99 and are now $12.50 so I assume the 32oz balls have increased in a similar ratio as well- I just haven't been in the right stores for quite some time. All Canadian dollars though so likely still under $20usd with the exchange rate what it is! I was always surprised when I visited the states how expensive your yarn was compared to here though I think it might be one of the only items that most of the time Canadians get a better price on at the store! Haha.
Thanks for sharing! 35.5 ozs is superb. Red Heart yarn is the best yarn, esp. For childrens' projects. Excellent for washing and keeping colour and shape above all other yarns.
Glenda this is great news! Thanks so much for letting us know about the huge skiens of red heart yarn, very much appreciated just like we appreciate you and all you do.
Wow, those extra large skeins of Red Heart yarns are fantastic! I make blankets all the time so I’m going to like the big skeins. I hope they come out with more colors. 🧶💜🙏🏻
Thank you Glenda for sharing this with us. I like Red Heart yarn. That was my first yarn I used, when I taught myself to crochet 52 years ago. Love that they are coming out with the bigger skeins. 🙏💜🤗🧶
I'm excited about the extra large skein. I'm one of those people who swears by RedHeart. My mom always used it when I was a kid, and it held up beautifully. Of course, it was made in the USA then. Time will tell how durable it is being made in Turkey and India. Luckily, my local Walmart has been putting RedHeart on sale. It comes out to about 1 cent per yard. That is how much I like to spend on budget acrylic. I would love the extra large skeins for ponchos and cardigans. I'm not sure if crafters who travel with their project would want a skein that large in their project bag. I don't usually take my crochet with me.
Wow, this is wonderful. Thank you for sharing this with us, I didn't know about this. I hope that they get even more colors. I will have to buy some. Have a wonderful day. Loving your blanket behind you. I will have to make that.
Hi Glenda thanks for letting me know about red heart yarn I used for years and I wished they would make the big balls thanks for letting me know take care 😊
I saw the big skiens withJayda and stitches at last summer in Canada. Great deal of big yarn. I like red heat yarn. I have been using Red Heart yarn since 1969.Thanks for sharing with all of us. 😊😊😊
Wow, those are huge! I have an afghan my maternal grandma made probably back in the late 60s or early 70s, from Red Heart SS yarn and it still looks really nice.
Yay, I’m excited about your flower afghan remake with Premier yarn!!I’ll be looking for that video. Thanks also for the review of those monster-sized Red Heart skeins! They look like a lot of fun. Thank you, Glenda.❤
Good afternoon Glenda I cannot wait to hear all about the bigger Red Heart Super Saver yarn and just how big it is? Oh those granny squares flowers are beautiful I cannot wait to see all the different colorways! I think it's going to be an amazing video.
O my goodness you are so busy. Wow! That large yarn ball is wonderful. I think it is a great price. That red is beautiful on wait the blue is pretty. O my I like them all.
The ginormous yarn skein is absolutely great. I agree with you. I would make blankets with the yarn and it would be great with the other colors as well.
I agree should of made these years ago. I don't order from Yarnspiration their prices are high. Glad your order came fast mine never does. I'll love these big yarns
Hi. Thank you for showing us the new giant size RHSS yarns. I wish I could use RHSS, but it seems to cause a terrible rash on my hands :( I haven't used it for about 30-40 years because I am afraid to. Premier Basix doesn't bother me at all, so I stick with that. I don't know why RHSS is a problem for me? Maybe something in the processing? I'd love to try it again, as there are so many great colors, but I am afraid to :( Have you heard of other people having skin issues with RHSS? Thank you ❤
I don't with RHSS, but I have issues with the chemicals they use to stop wool from felting. So it's entirely possible that redheart uses something your skin doesn't like, and combined that with the fact that it's a rougher yarn it could easily irritate.
The blue and the hunter would make gorgeous cable work sweaters, but I was really expecting a nice yellow and not black - they definitely need to add more colors but thank you for showing us!! 🤩🤗💖🧶🌹
Going to look for some old magazines and find your patterns...and I agree..have ❤ SS blankets that are 60 or more years old...love them...mementos of a dear friend...😢❤😂
I bought one after watching this. It’s huge and heavy!😂 Now…what should I do with it? I kind of wanna get another one and hold a double for a basket weave knitting blanket pattern I have. I have so many WIPs already.
Thats cool! Hopefully they make these huge ones in more colors though. I find it kind of weird they didnt do 6th color and add yellow to the line up... Yellow would have rounded out all the primary and most basic colors... plus, its the gender nuetral choice for people who wanna knit for babies. or pink. I think pink has gotta be one of the absolute most popular colors of yarn! Right along with blue. Right?
Whoa, that's a huge skein of yarn! My concern would be that it would have a lot of knots within the skein. Could you let us know if there are a lot of knots as you use it? Thanks!
@@CreativeGrandma I understand that. I thought you could make your own pattern. I've seen lots of videos but I love your videos much more. You are the best teacher!
I've found that once I wash and dry Red Heart yarn, that's it's not rough any longer. It really does soften the yarn, as long as you don't wash and dry on high heat.
I have a chevron stripe afghan my mother made in 1972 with RH that is still in perfect condition!! She made it for my grandmother, who kept it on her bed until she died in 1988. It got sent back to my mom then, and I got it when she died in 2011. I only wish I could get the cigarette smell out of it so I could use this most cherished heirloom.
Wash it in Woolite that's made for the washer. That's what I wash mine in before donating them. But my items are baby items & I wash them by hand. Hope this helps 🙂
@@kimlowery4583have you tried baking soda & vinegar, or hydrogen peroxide in the washer? One of them might work. For peroxide I use a 32 oz bottle For baking soda & vinegar, I've been told to use a cup of each... Good luck! 🐞

I know from experience that it softens up once washed & dried. It’s still not my favorite yarn, but it is a very good yarn. Also, it doesn’t pill as readily as other acrylics.
