@22:35 the really sad thing is that 4-mana sorcerer's apprentice is STILL a core part of like an at least ~tier 2 or so meta deck in wild...quest mage. The reflections card or w/e it's called really made it so ANY on board spell mana reduction in that deck is dangerous as hell. Honestly kinda wish they'd just gut the quest a bit, it's a pretty uninteractive and toxic matchup of "rush them down and maybe pack something to eat their ice block while they throw random bullshit they generated at you to try to live long enough for them to get to play solitaire" for most decks. Turn skips are just such an incredibly dangerous design space for card games, and honestly the real issue is that they get to repeat it OVER AND OVER. Like maybe if they made it so you can only take 1 extra turn in a row before the opponent has to get a turn it would be a good fix to that deck's win condition, as it is there's very little actual counterplay besides slowing them down with Loatheb-type effects and punching face. Makes the control match-up feel 100-0 unwinnable, or at least like 90-10, which just sucks when you get into a match an you know it's over as soon as both players reveal what deck they are playing, especially when both decks are competitively viable at your ranking (upper diamond-legend) but are just so polarized in the rock-paper-scissors. Maybe if we had side-boards and best-of-3s for ranked it wouldn't feel so bad...
Every wild deck is so overtuned that it all feels like rock paper scissors. Even warrior beats aggro which beats questmage and reno Druid which beats even warrior. I would say most of my matchups are 80% Wim rate or 20% loss
@@Begeru Do you play wild? Top 500 legend Wild Non-Reno quest mage's play it alongside flamewaker usually as one of their win-conditions with the quest. If you play anything diamond 5 and up you'll probably have seen sorcerer's apprentice played against you in Wild sometime in the past month.

It’s so funny because it’s the longest any meta game has ever had its standout deck solved. I think it was something like a whole 3 months before people realized doomguard and voidlord as your only demons with cubes was so good. Basically nobody predicted the deck.

Probably assumed that it was going to be an aggro deck, and I mean, it is an aggro deck, they just was pretty unlucky. But Dirty Rat always was a high skillcap card. When came out everybody but the pro players though it was going to be trash.
Because the average outcome is ripping a 2 or 3 power minion and you still have a 2/6 taunt. The warrior was unlucky that Chump's hand was "bad" and had both 7 drops in his opener. If he hit like a Shockhopper or a Menacing Nimbus which would've been kept in the mulligan he would've played effectively a 2 mana 2/4 or 2/5 taunt that discards a randomly generated card against an aggro deck.
For the longest time I didn't understand Bubbler's effect. I thought it was that he died after taking ANY instance of damage, and had good stats to make up for it (For stat buffs or silencing him or whatever) I never realised his weakness was EXACTLY 1 damage

you play rat even without followup against aggro alot of times because a battlecry board buff is usually game winning for aggro
