Both of the new tracks feel like they took Meteora sound and evolved it to the next step - it's not _that_ formula, but it's a more natural sequence to that. Kinda like they took all the lessons learnt from MtM to OML and built it up.

Takes some of the bouncier tracks like Faint and Don't Stay, with classic Mike rapping, and dials it toward a more straight-forward alt rock vibe you'd get from MtM and Living Things. Throw Faint, No More Sorrow, Burn it Down into a blender and you'll get in the ballpark.

Yep, even Chester himself actually said that, Mike is the genius. Chester actually stood by Mike when Warner brothers tried to have him kicked out of the band. earlier in their career, people at Warner Brothers wanted Chester to be the main focus but he said no.

Chester said many times when he was still with us "The music is bigger than any one person." Early in their career the label tried to get Chester to essentially leave the band and he not only wouldn't do it he told them. That speaks a lot to Chester as a person. This isn't the LP I grew up with but it's the LP I will take a seat on the bus and see where we go. 2 songs in and I'm sold.
