Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Sponsored Motorcycle Run 2023 - Part 1

This is the first 30 minute part of my experience of the 60 mile sponsored motorcycle run from North Weald Airfield, the base of the Essex Air Ambulance to the historic North Sea Haven port of Harwich.
This years run like many previously was thankfully policed by the Essex Police Force but the run was pretty slow as you will see, partly due to the enormous number of motorcycling participants, ongoing A12 road repairs, a 5 car accident crossing the central reservation and a motorcyclist ahead with heatstroke. This all meant that there were times when the procession was halted and the roads were a mass motorcycle park with riders stripping off to enjoy the sunshine being one of the hottest days of the year.
This series of 4 - 30 minute parts covers more than half of the journey up to the major stoppages.
I would like to Express my thanks to Essex and Herts Air Ambulance for once again putting on this massive event, the venues of the North Weald Airfield and Harwich town for accommodating us, the Essex Police Force, the many volunteers and the trade stands, food, charity and other vendors supporting this event. Finally a big thank-you to all those who donated and who came out along the route to cheer and wave us on and the many patient motorists who waited patiently while we passed.
I collected £225 in sponsorship for this ride.
Regrettably while at Harwich I learned that a fellow motorcyclist was hit by a car forcing the closure of the A140 leading to further delays. My thoughts and condolences go out to the families of those concerned.
