what a great video! No BS, no intro, you get right to the point. Plus, your work space and style is totally "real-world" on a cluttered bench with other half-finished projects lying around. It's kind of funny, but totally real. You make the job look doable, and you show us how to do it. THANKS!
I need to do this to my 97 civic I feel more confident now that I’ve watched you video I’ve never worked on a transmission to this extent before great video
Best video on d15 (b7) . Couldn’t find a how to till I came across this. Great explanation and step by step. Getting ready to do mine, will use this as I go along👍
Thank you recently purchased a 96 hatch and bought a new engine as old one was blown put it in and now when im riding in the parking lot without clutch engaged on deceleration car has a horrible grinding noise at first I thought it was because I was told the trans had been redone with cut gears but I got some insight from a Honda professor and he def told me it was a bearing in the transmission thanks for the indepth guide
thank you for the whole package (including the part numbers) dude. my ep2 also started making grinding sounds on 1st and 2nd gear - my mech told me to sell the car. too expensive.
Bro, i just bought a 96 ex with this issue and i didnt realize it at the time, thank you for showing us how to do this, i dont feel like i got hosed on this car now
Decided to do this on mine and put it all back together and after about 25 miles it’s making noise again. It’s not grinding like the old one was but you can definitely hear it making noise.
I have a 92 Honda Civic eg hatchback 1.5 manual. Where can I find the input shaft bearing? All I can seem to find is 95 and up. Btw this is the best video of the teardown. Nicely done!!
you prolly dont give a shit but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can watch all the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my girlfriend during the lockdown xD
The input shaft bearing has an oil seal what do you call that? I don't understand about the leaking of the oil near the speed sensor. I tried replacing the distributor seal, solenoid seal and as well as the speed sensor but still there is leaking near the speed sensor but my mechanic told me that the seal near the input shaft bearing needs to be replaced. Is that the problem. What do you think about it? Hope to get reply from you. Thank you it helped me a lot.
Just a thought what if you wrapped some painters tape around the whole gear set and forks when you pull them out would it help to have it aligned to put it back in. I've never done it but just thought about it
@@dylanstevens8542 did it kinda just plop into place gotta do this job to mine soon and wanna make it less stressful when putting it back on did the tape hold everything in place well?
I did this last year but could not for the life of me get the snap ring to go back on the counter shaft. I even tried a LOT of "atomic drops" as the Honda forms suggested. I ended up just going to the junk yard and buying another trans for like $120 and it was a shorter geared EX instead of the DX/LX trans I had before.
I think my input shaft seel went bad on mine and destroyed my Trans cause all the oil came out and looked like liquid metal there was so much metal shavings in it lol. It's getting converted to hydro Trans anyway its a 91 the cable Trans are getting hard to find anyway
Hii sir greetings. In my front wheel drive, when I release the clutch in 1st gear, there is a jerking noise, and then the car moves. The same problem occurs when changing gears, including reverse gear. All engine mounts, wheel bearings, clutch kit, flywheel, and both main shaft bearings have been replaced, but the problem persists. Please help me with this issue.

I get a whirling noise when in neutral and when in gear but lower. Also, 5th gear tend to pop out when I decelerate to accelerate.
thanks for taking the time to help us out. i made the decision to not do it on my dads car lol
I replaced my input shaft bearing and mainshaft bearing. Do you know what my input shaft endplay tolerance should be? Very helpful video thank you

I might attempt this good idea 💡

amazing video! 20 minutes, which gave me more than six months of calls to car services. does the s20 transmission have the same design?
Thanks brother nice video ..... do you know if it’s the same thing on a 88-91 Honda Civic si transmission same process thanks

Anyone got a problem at closing it. Mine turns fine but once I close it, it stops turning. Any idea?
My input shaft bareing messed up on me 2 weeks ago in my accord. I was lucky to find another perlude tranmmison with 144k miles on it.
Awesome thanks

Part number four a000 or b000?
This is pretty comon I wonder if a bad transmission ground would cause the pitting
Bout to be doin mine also good vid!
U didn't tape the shaft splines have u had any leaks after the install
What if the input shaft is a bit wobbly? Will the new one make it sturdy again?
Thanks bro.

Do you have any idea what size the detent bearings are? I have lost all three of mine!!! 🤔
Look up tall pines racing. They sell them as an upgrade and it’s so worth it
@@aslopez92 Thankyou for that!!! I call him and he verified that those bearings are 5/16.
How did you get transmission fluid in that chevy SS you did the cam swap on???
You should have thrown in some synchrotech carbon synchros while you were in there
Do you have the part number for the counter shaft bearing on the very top
Do you happen to know if i can take 5th gear out of a s40 and put in a s20 transmission?
hey bud would these part number you put in the description fit a 94 civic ex mt ?
2002 Honda Civic hearing air at the clunch pedal and lose clutch can anyone help?
I fucked up my input shaft seal by not putting the dust shield on the fly wheel back and a rock or something made it start leaking badddd
Anyone here know if the bearings linked are for an A000 or a B000 transmission?
B000
Did you ever get that Z6 crank?
I have one on the way. I bought it off a guy on a d series Facebook page
Do I have to open the tranny to change those bearings
yes
Aha, firts
Thanks!
