Rece Hinds is the reason I found this podcast because when he went off I wanted to learn more about him. I hope he develops into the guy because the physical traits he has are crazy.
Thanks for the shout out guys. I say play the hell out of him in training camp and let Valaika work with him...I really think he's gonna be a big bat in that lineup. Deep down we all know the Reds aren't gonna give up the type of capital or cash that it will take for the big bats still available.
Guys , every season starts with a healthy dose of hope . This team is full of I hope players . It’s a better option than the over the hill players that the reds seem to almost always get thru trades or signings .
Kyle tucker is going to the cubs. The reds had even more outfielders to choose from this offseason, even more than 23. Let's face it, they're not gonna do shit. All we will here is talks, in ons, and links. Just like many years before, spring training will roll around and no signings will have happened. I hope I'm wrong, but the pattern is to predictable not to see. Reds aren't gonna do shit. I hate being like this, but I'm fed up with this shit. Edit: if jeff and steve agree that will benson not being in triple A to start the season is a failed offseason, how is rece not the same freaking thing. WE NEED REAL PLAYERS.
Fairchild has had mental lapses but with new manager/coaches will that continue? If he is that dense I wonder how he got to the bigs in the first place.
Fairchild went to an outstanding university, and guess what, he studied. Therefore, he is intelligent, a student of the game, and at the end of his career is managerial savvy. He is a tremendous defensive outfielder with exceptional speed, and with a new hitting coach, I believe his plate swing & misses will be reduced significantly. Moreover, Stuart's mental lapses are nil compared to Da La Cruz immaturity. These guys continually dream for pie in the sky skilled starting players in a small market. Let's be realistic, it is highly unlikely to happen.
No on Rece Hinds. I agree with Steve 100% because Reds should be done with maybes hopes and finger cross players. Should he not be doing well in AAA first? Hit .208 in 380AB and again thats AAA not the big show.
100% ! That's why I hated Deion Sanders... the fastest man in sports...and he's swinging ( unsuccessfully ) for the fences every AB ??? Deion if he had learned the Strike Zone, how to bunt and how to consistently hit the ball to the left side...he'd have hit .400, with 100+ steals and 100+ runs scored every year ! He was so fast if he hit a ball to the left side and it took 2 hops...he was on ! Now, I'm not saying Elley should abandon power, just add bunting and hitting the ball the other way to his bag of tools.
@@Jeffstoyspokemoncars True but Hamilton didn't ALWAYS swing for the fences and he did try at times to bunt and hit the ball the other way...just not consistently. I will never understand how a MLB player can not have the ability to lay down a bunt. It's simply catching the ball with your bat, If you can catch the ball with your glove...you should be able to catch it with your bat ! I'm 65, haven't swung a bat in 25 years and I GUARANTEE you I could put down a bunt if I had too. Guys just don't practice it enough. Think about it with the speed that Elly, Friedl and McLain have they could drive defenses nuts bunting !
Trade for Salvatore Perez and rotate with Stevenson at catcher, 1st base and dh. This gives you backup catcher and power hitter, two positions filled with one player. Then trade for Roberts. Roberts, Friedl and Steer is a good outfield.
Agreed. I hope Hinds turns into a solid player, but 2024 was a small sample size. He is in the same category as Marte. Might be a great player, but also might be a bust.
@@YogGroove it’s played out. How many years do you really have with Tito? 3? Why are you clinging to prospects that probably won’t even be around for his time as manager? Win now, push all the chips into the table and if it fails? Blow it up and start over. Were used to a rebuild. However, not striking big when you have a chance is unforgivable.
Yet he hit .290 against the breaking ball...there's a big difference between NOT being able to hit the breaking ball and chasing breaking balls out of the strike zone. THAT's what he did was chase and that can be corrected
Steve, I am really getting tired of you thinking there is anybody out there who is a guaranteed anything. The most guaranteed player coming into 2024 was Ronald Acuña Junior. And in the first month of the season, he’s injured and gone for the year. There are no guarantees. You do the best you can, with the resources you have, and you do what you can to get the best out of the players that you bring up, that you trade for, and you sign. A seven year 200 million Anthony Santander contract would be a disaster for this team. I can understand the reds, not wanting to sign long long-term contracts not knowing with the future of the sport is going to be in three years. Your negativity on anything other than what you think this team needs is really becoming a problem. I know you guys hate the deal, but I think the Robert trade is exactly what the reds need as long as it doesn’t cost too much. It’s basically 31 year contracts, all three of which are less than the qualifying offer. I don’t know how you get much better than that for a guy entering his age 27 season that has in the past shown tremendous ability. I think that is worth the gamble, whereas tying yourself to a 230 hitter for seven years smack of Dave Kingman type desperation.
Rece Hinds = Nope, gotta stop with the "Woulda Coulda", use these eternal options in case of injures, make them earn the jobs, that goes with Marte, CES too. Need proven players. With Cubs getting Tucker, possibly signing Bregman, Reds need to get serious if they wanna win the division.
Was not all this talk of salary caps and work stoppage well known for a long time. I can not see players association ever agreeing to a cap. If owners and players association can not try to figure out some agreement before a work stoppage then none of them really care that much about the sport and the fans. First let's start with a salary floor. Second, owners must put all money received from revenue sharing back into the roster. Third, lower the payroll tax thresholds and increase the tax significantly. Fourth, any team exceeding the tax threshold loses their first round pick.
Dont hold your breath , front office has had plenty time to make some deals , wait every year for them to make some deals but its the same old song and dance
If not ready for Hinds, but counting on Stuart Fairchild in any way, the Reds are still not serious about winning. I'm sick of hearing about Fairchild, Benson, Friedl, Fraley, and every other guy the Reds have proven they can lose with. Fairchild is a 4th outfielder on a 5th place team on his best day. No more man-bun. Stop with the damned costume party and put a team on the field that will compete.
Bat speed is over rated in my opinion. Yeah you might hit the ball and get lucky more but like Steve said you gotta slow the bat down and hit to the opposite field sometime
@@thehappyhermit01yeppers just saw that too. Paredes has the experience over prospects HOWEVER seems as if Reds aren't BigGameFishing🎣whatsoever at this point ~ perhaps Singer is the big splash ~
Jeff I hope you're right about Candelario ! I said that signing made ZERO sense last season ! You have CES and Steer, young guys that need the AB's that play 1st, Marte that plays 3rd...all under club control for several years ( cheap ) so what do you do ? You give a 3 year $45 Mil. contract to a guy ( overpaying ) to take away AB's from 3 young guys that NEED them ? I was sure the only reason they signed him was to flip him for a starting pitcher.
This is true because the Reds aren't going to sign jack shit they do not and will not spend money while other teams grab all the talent tired of prospects talk get a player major league ready.

Or trade for a proven take talent. Stop hoping shitty players pan out. Reece Hinds is a flash in the pan. They’re simping for the castellinis
After Hinds big first 6 games he then proceeded to go 1 for 24 before being sent back down to AAA
It’s ok, he’ll be just as good as Kyle Tucker😂😂😂
Keep hatin' get back to me when he's an All - Star.
Tucker to Cubs just happened...thats the trade we needed
Deep down we all knew the Reds weren't gonna spend the capital that the Cubs had to give up !
Just gotta respond by signing Teoscar/Santander and trading for Luis Robert

I see myself getting a Stuart Fairchild away jersey next season! Let's go baby! Teach him how to hit RHP and he will be an MVP!
Every team in baseball have hope players. Do not bleeding your farm system for another hope like Candelario or Mustakas
