    I totally agree with that entire statement. Same here, except I didn't learn until my senior year. The first match for me was always the scale. Once I quit that game, I had more energy, was hydrated, and did better in school. Also, it was amazing how much different practice was, when it was about working on technique and not worrying about sweat. Senior year I was 2 under on day three of weigh ins. All I had to worry about was my wrestling. Phenomenal decision. Love when you talk collegiate wrestling. I used to drive from Gresham to Canby every Wednesday to do a second practice with you and Kevin. Some of the best memories. Keep it up.

      I was thinking Geoff because of power and if he can close the distance. It’s a smaller cage as well so wonder boy may change up his style after the first couple round of it makes it that far. Attacking the lead leg of WB is key, but I see Geoff trying to get inside more. But you can’t sleep in a vet. He is the wonder boy for a reason. I’m excited for the match up and see it to a few rounds. I don’t think Geoff will get inside that early without WB recovering. But I can definitely see around 2/3 KO if not the distance.

    I agree that this story is interesting. In the video, it was said that it would be easy to cut 8 pounds.
    Could you do a video on how Professional wrestlers/MMA fighters cut weight?
    The general person on the street struggles to lose weight, so how do those who have to weigh a certain amount lose weight to make the required weight?

    • @Day-ZDuke
      @Day-ZDuke 4 года назад +3

      ...the fighter would shed some weight in the weeks leading up to the fight, but the bulk of the weight they cut right before the fight is just water weight
      Chael is talking about just sweating it out from sauna or exercise
      But the fighters also “water load “, which involves drinking tons of water for a few days , then your body will be able to dispel a large amount of water from your system, in rebuke almost. So the fighter times that for the day they need to weigh in, their body will have expelled as much water as possible, reducing their body weight
      But it’s not sustainable for weight loss for the average person. After the fighter weighs in, they replenish their fluids and gain most of that weight back, that was lost from water being expelled

    Based on what you said, and my own experience with cutting weight as a fighter, the moment you consciously acknowledged that you were going to be eating less, and working out more, in order to get down to 185, your body switch its metabolism, and began to store excess pounds. My question to you is this, how hard was the first weight cut to 185?

  • @bloocifer
    @bloocifer 4 года назад

    And as far as your thesis , Chael. Youre right. Its like a "forbidden fruit fallacy". You always want what you dont have. Its like a balancing act that people naturally do. You think food is scarce, so you subconsciously eat more. Or the opposite; you think you have 6 ensures and unlimited fried steak, so you dont want to eat as much because you have a surplus of food and its not going anywhere. Its like if you were walking in the desert, if you had a bottle of water, you would be fine. But if you DIDNT have any water, you would immediately be thirsty because you know there's a NEED for water and you dont have it or it is scarce.

I’m only 5’9, but since my sophomore year I high school my body would never let me hit anything under 180 without my kidneys shutting down. I'm with you uncle Chael my coach would ask if I wanted to go down I'd be like nope I'm good. I was that guy eating right before I weighed in a fully dressed just so I'd be close enough to that weight so they'd let me wrestle. Always appreciate the story's thanks

    I didn't cut much weight to wrestle, a pound or two. I thought it was dumb. I was skinny. Why loose weight? Didn't come close to being a champ. But I didn't starve either.

    College wrestling from what I have seen, is the most physically and mentally taxing sport in collegiate sports. You’re cutting weight, you are wrestling every week sometimes multiples in a week, depending where you’re wrestling you’ll go against athletic freaks and child prodigies, and additionally your position isn’t guaranteed because your wrestling partner wants your job.

      Very hard, the level of competition is pretty high even in high school. I wrestled at 185lbs and there were some really tough kids.

    I think Uncle Chael saw my last comment and may give DC a thought lol. Him at around 190 and DC around 200 something would be a good stand up battle or ground match really. Both great wrestlers. Both retired and do it for fun!

      @@lennaymaboyyy4848 I want him to do something with his retired career and still being relevant! (Other than his knowledge and videos) Not to prove anything... but you’re one of the best to do it and there is a friendly/charity event waiting for both of you... before it gets too late. DC and Chael would be a beautiful paper view/numbers (crowd or not) it sells! But at what weight??? Chael likes fighting heavier opponents?! 🤟🏼💛👑
