    Thanks for the review! I don't have one but itLooks like it's very similar to the ft-4xr which is a great little radio for the price. I think the audio quality you presented is very good. One thing that's tempting me to get one is the P1 through P4 quick keys. I like to group memories into banks but having 4 memories available at a single press is nice. 73!

    Very well built basic radio. Great audio! Easily opened up to use GMRS frequencies and others. Price has been all over the place. Saw it once for $70. Should have bought several more.

      Yeah I've bought and sold two of them so far. Tempted to buy another and just use it for APRS using the Mobilinkd TNC.

    The 65 is my daily driver. I use it in my work vehicle attached to a Diamond MR77 mag mount. I also have a Diamond SR77 antenna, 2 Comet SMA-503 antennas, and two UHF Signal Stick antennas, all SMA Female(reverse SMA for all the purists out there), two high cap batteries, and a Tera speaker mic. I wish Yaesu would see their way to make a battery eliminator, since there is not a way to charge from DC. The slow scan speed doesn't bother me because I only have 14 frequencies in memory(I have to input memories by hand because I don't have access to an electronic device that reads to and writes from radios). Thanks for sharing. 73. KC3UEE

      Very cool! I'm surprised Batteries America doesn't make a battery eliminator for it. I think every radio I have I always max out the memories in one way or another. I usually use the RT Systems software which works pretty well. Thanks for watching!

    Got one and it is a nice little radio. Never seem to use it so it sits. One nice thing is you can program it with out of band stuff and it will not transmit on those channels unless you use a code for the mod, which you can turn the out of band on and off with that code

    • @k9swx
      @k9swx  Год назад +1

      I saw that mod too but I'm not a big fan of modding my radios so I didn't mention it in the video. At least with this radio you can turn the mod on and off without cutting wires or soldering things. 😁 Thanks!

      @@k9swx That is what I like about it too. I can have a radio that will not transmit out of band but if I true emergency came up you could change it in just a couple of minutes. A lot better that having a radio you can transmit out of band all the time.

    Have you figured out how to have it scan and have the buttons locked? That’s what keeps it from being an everyday carry for me.

    • @k9swx
      @k9swx  Год назад

      No I tried and it appears when it's scanning it locks out the keypad so you can't engage the lock feature. Sorry!

    Someone needs to come up with a USB-C capable battery for this radio!

    How do do save VFO splits to memory? I cant seem how to figure out how to save to memory non standard off sets.

    • @k9swx
      @k9swx  6 месяцев назад +1

      I am not sure about that one. I was able to do some non-standard offsets in the RT Systems software but didn't see anything in either manual about doing it directly on the radio. I was also unable to do a big offset like you would use for satellites where the downlink is on 70cm and the uplink was on 2m.
      If anyone else knows if this is possible with the radio, let us know!

    i think the scan is to fast myself, if between transmissions you missed it.
