- N Step Steve Part 1 - I'm going to consider part 1 and part 2 of this game to be a singular game. I will tell you straight away, this game is hard, and will get harder with every episode. Prepare yourself for the most surprisingly deep puzzle game in a while!

6:00 The difference is in scope of death.
Spikes kill whatever cat steps on them.
0 Flag kills all cats on the screen.
And rocks can go on spikes but push flags.
Also 0 flag can be countered by any cat going on a flag at the same time, spike needs the same cat going on a flag.
And spikes and flags can overlap but 0 flags and other flags cant
Oh and 0 flags can also be pushed by statues. Statues probably go on spikes but I'm not sure.
What's a Samsara that Tyler mentioned 7 minutes in?

That and he could have just died on a flag to change parity. It think it was the intended solution but he somehow skipped both :,(
I had to do a double take as well. It spooked me. I think we now know how to get that first star. I imagine there's now a puzzle that you have to move a flag along a belt to touch it, then off yourself to reset at where the flag started
An undo does wonders for alleviating frustration.. especially with the varying movement amounts..
Also love how you ask "wonder if they will replace spikes with 0 pip flags" and then almost immediately get shown the difference, rocks can go on spikes and spikes only kill you if end of them.. it's always interesting when two obstacles are similar yet still each have a purpose without invalidating each other
Wow.. flag pushing is definitely gonna both be a blessing and curse.. oh wait if they always reset the whole screen it can't be that bad.. thought it would save the flag position too
Also.. didn't say this in the last Steve game but it is nice that they naturally teach the player "death" isn't same as "fail" because of the forced dying for puzzles.. since most players would kinda avoid dying and thus not get far
N step Steve allowing flags to be pushable was a great addition/change that opens up a lot of potential puzzles.
Tyler is a steve killer. He found a new way to torture him.
I adore that Tyler moved the flag at 4:32 and COMPLETELY IGNORED this fact :D
6:51 i like how he picked one of the worst possible keys, E sharp minor is not a thing (though i guess it's technically possible, but it would be referred to by any sane person as F minor)

What's the VI chord in G# major? For any sane person, an F in that key would be a flat VII.
You don't hear about E# too often because it'd be usually easier to pick a flat key (Ab in this case) than a sharp for that specific reason. Honestly though, that's only really a problem for like... piano players because of the key layout, I guess.

The implications of the many stones in that room with the triple Medusas makes me uncomfortable
And the duplicator corridor room doesn't really save the situation

Never mind that, I think he also missed an important point that on a lot of screens getting to the star is the easy part and there's something harder he wants to do as well.
Next up, C step steve, where you can also move in an irrational direction!

@@CyanWatercress4 If we want a buildup from the first 2, that also encompasses irrationals, then we would get C. Thats why i said "also", as to not alienate avid fans of the series.

Thanks to you I have played N step steve part 2 and i have to say... This is probably the most BRUTAL, mind bending puzzle game ever made. This puzzle series is a hidden gem, thank you for finding it!

Tyler I think you might be able to push the flag closer to the star on that one level with the flag through the conveyer belts and leave the level through the right side. Curious to see if there's anything past it.

i remember that star actually being one of the last ones i solved. i did play this before 5 step steve, but i think getting the right position still would have taken me a while

7:02 my guess is that no it wouldn't be because respawning starts a turn and doesn't end it (you can see this by the fact that when you respawn rocks on conveyor belts don't move until you do)

6:02 Without knowing anything about N step Steve (being introduced to it by you). I'd imagine that the difference between spikes and 0 pip flags is that spikes just kill one cat, and can be used as stepping stones if you have multiple cats, but 0 pip flags are just a hard "do not step on this tile" kind of hazard, as they'd end all your cats. I haven't watched the rest of the video past this point, so I may be vindicated by the end of it.
There's also a situation with the "If you step on two flags pick the one with the greater number" meaning if you step on another flag and a 0 pip flag at the same time you can safely cross the area
I love N Step Steve, it's like 5SS but so much better!

It's a triple puzzle in one room... one for get pass the level, one for the star in the room, and one for the extra exit behind the star...
There are some rooms in part 2 which have 4 puzzles (the cat, the star, the exit behind the star, and the cryptid)

Because- ooohh...
My guess is that she saw them from above, below, or some sort of diagonal. (Perhaps below due to her position?) Maybe she is tall or has x-ray vision and can see over rocks. That or she can respawn too, but this seems doubtful for many reasons.
Thinking about it, she probably saw them from a different room.

So I may have not realized there was an N Step Steve Part 1, and thought “Part 2” was just because it was the second game of the series. That may have made it a little hard

The 0 flag is basically a "kill all" spike
No it just sets steve's moves to 0 meaning if you have 1 steve on a 0 flag and another steve on a non-0 flag you won't die (the sideways scrolling room in part 2 abuses this a lot to get the cryptid)
The game gets so incredibly amazing in part 2, im not gonna spoil it though, youll have to see for yourself
