This video is a bit older, but I wanted to say that because of it I bought this pedal.. with the midi presets and its functionality, it's become the center piece in my board. With this and the boss rv500 and dv500.. I can set up endless patches with a hundred different tones. This a great pedal and this demo rocks!! Thanks Pete
Well said SonicBlue. Nice setup BTW. Don't you find the ability to call up preset EQ curves alone - even in boost mode - to be fantastic? I do run a comp and some other stuff in front of it. It is my last drive stage into my pre-amp. I am thinking the buffer helps in this setup.
I do, I love having two identitical patches with simple eq differences is really cool. you can tailor the OD sound for verse/intro etc and make each part shine... it's really convenient. I run it with the boss es-5 which lets me move it before or after the other drives/effects. Such a versatile yes simple rig really. I'm ordering the Tremotron for it's midi capability as well for xmas. We live in a golden era of effects and tones.
Your demos are absolutely on fire this last month. I think many of us would love an album of fleshed out demos like these, lol. Tons of emotion, patience yet speed, nasty nasty bends....very cool solos... And for what it's worth, I think your selected drum track sound fits especially well this time, and helped put this one over the top.
I tried one out on the Fuzz Guitar Show in Gothemburg, Sweden. Hell yes! I use a vintage Selmer amp and a telecaster and this is just the pedal I've been looking for!
Ok... how many synth guys are here? Great demo too bro! Just picked one of these up from Thomann for cheap. I think Sweetwater might be blowing them out also. Gonna hook it up to my Moog Grandmother and utilize the CV input as well.
Just got one for ridiculous Euro 70,00. A way unlucky underrated pedal. It's a 'cleaner', because it cleaned my board from at least 3 Boutique Drive Peds.
...And... why don't you just do an album with Chris Cornell?! Between this, the Orange Baxgeeter demo, Kirk Hammit OD demo, a couple of others... the album is practically written. That would be awesome!
The best way I can describe your videos is that I feel like I should of paid something to watch them. They are so good I actually Bluetooth them through my car when I'm driving.
Hey Pete, I am not particularly surprised that as a guitarist you have not heard of Elektron, just wanted to say they are one of the bigger names in synthesizers, at least when it comes to more boutique-like stuff.
I sold my one, but will buy another as it sounds great and can do all my other pedals in one box. Not sure why it’s not seen on more boards. Perhaps people prefer having all those different flavours in different casings.
This could be the best od ever! and with midi control and exp control for foot controllers like rjm pbc WOW! Thanks so much for this great demo Pete , awesome talent my friend.
I am seriously looking at the MusicomLab mk5 or LE but will say it plays nicely with my H9 controlling it over MIDI. At least for preset switching obviously. Only thing I wish was that it would save the on/off setting with the patch. Oh well.
Another great demo. This pedal seems really useful, both live and recording. I like analog pedals with digital controls. The only drawback is the large size, but I suppose it can replace two or three other drive pedals.
''Sounds Kind of Awesome I Think'' Yeah, I'll second that. Great demo Pete, I love the use of the overhead cam while you are going through the different settings. Insane playing man!!!
Just added this pedal and have been using it with an Eventide Space and Modfactor. Wow. Once you get all the midi stuff worked out it is a game changer. Well worth the $99 they are selling at right now.
hey Pete , great video, great pedal as well! ...did you have a chance to test guitar volume roll off on the different circuits , I wonder if they clean up .. seems to have a buffer on the input side , not sure if this would prevent that , its just nice to have some control over the break-up point with guitar volume pot
Amazing playing as always. If this demo doesn't convince people to get this pedal, frankly nothing else will. On a side note, does anyone else get the impression that this is what the Strymon drive pedal should have been in the 1st place?
Pete, you have the best demos on RUclips! Also, I think you should go ahead and buy that bass, unless you are doing the "Minnie Pearl" thing! LOL. Great stuff!
Sounds very good, and great demo as usual .. thanks Pete, gonna check the price and just to give credit where due, I would buy something if it's what I'm looking for without having to try it out safely knowing it's been given your approval and listening to your excellent straight to the point demo's .. very professional .. 10/10 👍👍👍🎸🔊🎵🎵🎵
You made that pedal sound amazing! Any noise gate or noise reduction software in the chain? The other demos of this pedal have been a bit noisy, and you've got such a clean signal, even with the super high gain settings.
Is this pedal good? I dont know as i havent used it. One thing i do know is that it will not replace all of your dirt boxes on your board. Why? Because we use differentl boxes in different places on our boards.
Pete in Drop C!?! Man I love your ability to effortlessly traverse different genres. Does the Wolfgang's D-Tuna handle going from D Stand to Drop C OK? Great playing as always, I really look forward to your videos because it's not endless wanking it's all TASTY playing.
Awesome demo Pete! Your videos are so inspiring. Are you using the Suhr Loadbox and Ownhammer IRs for the guitar tones or is that a mic'ed cab? Thanks.
This plus a regular Fuzz, a Muff, Power Booster, Compressor and 3 Source Audio One series (Gemini, Nemesis, Vertigo) pedals in the Neuro Hub, Line 6 M5, MIDI loop switcher - I could sell all my other ODs and Distortion pedals, my Octafuzz. That would pay for the Elektron with change to spare. Heck, sell my Tumnus, OCD and MI Super Blues Pro - that'd just about cover it! Probably keep one legit analog delay and one separate OD (Bluesbreaker and/or Trainwreck style pedal) on the board, and hang on to one of my dual Ods for a small grab 'n go board. It'd still leave me ahead on drives and cash! Elektron FTW! Sold to the man with too many drives!
On the strength of that I ordered one today ! So on one of the examples you have a delay ! Did you use it in line or in the fx send and return in the amp ?? Awesome playing as usual Pete 🎸
With a solo like that... how do you feel about some of the other RUclips guitarist like Rob Scallon or Jared Dines? Jared Dines recently did a huge RUclips guitarist collab... if you were in that you'd blow them all away. Awesome demos as always!
Great video! One question, Pete: Is the changing of the drive patches pretty much instantaneous, or is there a fraction of a second of silence that would be noticeable when playing live? Thanks.
kennyopr generally it's guitar- tuner (TC polytune)- amp (usually PT100) - suhr reactive load- lately, a meris preamp into the line in- UA Apollo Interface- Logic- mixIR2 plugin to host IRs for speaker simulation. Mostly using the new Celestion IR's. That's it!
I have not tried that with mine. I doubt it would sound right. Will report back. Am jamming tomorrow and going to get more acquainted with it. I have been using it in conjunction with an Eventide H9 to switch presets live and it works perfectly and sounds KILLER.
After some time away from this Pete, what are your thoughts? It seems that you were pretty inspired in this video in particular. The sounds are very organic. Do you agree?
I really liked the opening track, but when you solo'd the parts it kind of lost it's luster. I should really consider more "in the mix" type noises when I play with things. Great demo!
Out of all the demos of this pedal I've seen, this is by far the best. Your creativity is jaw dropping also. Keep it up!
Krish Patel thanks!
And again! Another great review, but again another truly amazing solo by Pete. Brilliant.
This video is a bit older, but I wanted to say that because of it I bought this pedal.. with the midi presets and its functionality, it's become the center piece in my board. Very cool pedal, very interested thanks for showing at Pete… And is always half the fun is watching you jam
Rod Morgan thank u Rod!
First demo of the Elektron Analog Drive that made it sound good!
Whenever I want to be humbled I watch your videos. Thank you for sharing your talent and passion with us!
Ray Williamson aw thanks Ray
Your demos are absolutely on fire this last month. I think many of us would love an album of fleshed out demos like these, lol. Tons of

SmokeDogNY420 coming pretty soon! Been working on it
I tried one out on the Fuzz Guitar Show in Gothemburg, Sweden. Hell yes! I use a vintage Selmer amp and a telecaster and this is just the pedal I've been looking for!
Wow Pete, this thing sounds great!! And you blew me away with the demo! Great playing and a helluva an influence on me and a lot of other players!
Dang Pete I so love your reviews. Keep up the great work! Love!
BTW, your playing on the last like four pedal reviews done has been nothing short of amazing!!!
man those riffs kicked major ass so heavy
fazeel ashraf thanks!
liked that whammy bar and bending and wailing. that's some old school kickin that sounds so nice to still hear.. keep it up
Ok... how many synth guys are here? Great demo too bro! Just picked one of these up from Thomann for cheap. I think Sweetwater might be blowing them out also. Gonna hook it up to my Moog Grandmother and utilize the CV input as well.
What an awesome pedal and demo. You were on fire for this one! Cool!
Great demo ,great product, Thanks!
Awesome intro riffing and solo! Great heavy sound!
Dave Petrella thanks!
Intro: A little djent, a little Gilmore, all Pete! --- This seems like its an excellent tool for the studio where multi function is golden.
L. Scott Music thanks!
One your best sounding videos, you can really hear ALL of the colors this pedal can do,....WELL DONE !
mark valentine thanks!
Just got one for ridiculous Euro 70,00. A way unlucky underrated pedal. It's a 'cleaner', because it cleaned my board from at least 3 Boutique Drive Peds.
Pete, best opening to a review/demo vid ever! Tones and a tune!
...And... why don't you just do an album with Chris Cornell?! Between this, the Orange Baxgeeter demo, Kirk Hammit OD demo, a couple of others... the album is practically written. That would be awesome!
Reading this comment months after his passing, brought tears to my eyes. Rest in peace Chris Cornell.
The best way I can describe your videos is that I feel like I should of paid something to watch them. They are so good I actually Bluetooth them through my car when I'm driving.
Bill x that's quite a compliment! Thanks
Awesome Pete thanks!
That riff / tone is so good...
Seriously, I think an album is needed at this point.
Corey Clark coming along!!
Wow!!! That solo had soooo much feeling! It came right from the heart. Great review man.
Eddie Bowman thanks!
awesome video Pete!
Sick, sick, sick playing Pete!
Great demo, awesome playing,thanks Pete!
Awesome Pete!
Great review, Pete.
Hey Pete, I am not particularly surprised that as a guitarist you have not heard of Elektron, just wanted to say they are one of the bigger names in synthesizers, at least when it comes to more boutique-like stuff.
Damn!!! most excellent riffage Pete. That pedal sounds effing badass.
tasty intro demo as usual Pete........nice.
You just downright surprised me with that demo! That sounded amazing!
Sakari Kempas thanks!
This is some naaaaaaaaasty guitar playing. I am not a guitar guy, but this is amazing. :)
Excellent demo, Pete!
Nice demo Pete.
Amazing playing as usual!
Versatile songwriting! The pedal looks awesome...
I sold my one, but will buy another as it sounds great and can do all my other pedals in one box. Not sure why it’s not seen on more boards. Perhaps people prefer having all those different flavours in different casings.

''Sounds Kind of Awesome I Think'' Yeah, I'll second that. Great demo Pete, I love the use of the overhead cam while you are going through the different settings. Insane playing man!!!
Mud Wiser thanks!
Pete`s playing surprises me every time
Heavy, rockin, and stellar. Nice riffs, solo...thank you.oh the pedal is great too, but it shines because of you bro. Keep doing this please!!!
I have been waiting for ADA to make a version of the ADA MP-1 like that!
That pedal bank sounds much better than about 80% of the pedals available... really a remarkable product.
Thanks, Pete...
Just added this pedal and have been using it with an Eventide Space and Modfactor. Wow. Once you get all the midi stuff worked out it is a game changer. Well worth the $99 they are selling at right now.
DAMN PETE!
Hardcore song!
I love your rock songs but as a metal head, this is by far my favorite song.
Great tones and pedal.
Fantastic pedal but incredible playing and riffing. Love those picked out chimey chords with picked out riffs. Great composition. Well done 👍
Pete and Andy make pedals sound like nothing I can get out of them. It’s just not fair.
Dude sick intro! Keepem coming bro!
joesoupcoxman thanks!
Damn Pete! Shot out of a cannon this week?! Did someone pissing you off? You came six guns blazing. Great demo! I feel the money leaving my wallet.
*piss
Nice review - pedal is definitely big but sounds really good. Main rhythm riff has a big time King's X vibe -- dig it.
Tryed one today and it rocked! Now I know what to do with my next pay check. 😀
You are awesome Pete!
Pete or community, can you have this in the chain where a drive should be, with compressor before it, and reverbs and delays after it?
Yes!
Pete Thorn is beast! Thank you!
God Damn Pete. Your intro track was killer
Sean Kebely thanks!
Pete could make a pumpkin with rubber bands on it sound awesome.
hey Pete , great video, great pedal as well! ...did you have a chance to test guitar volume roll off on the different circuits , I wonder if they clean up .. seems to have a buffer on the input side , not sure if this would prevent that , its just nice to have some control over the break-up point with guitar volume pot
"Rock n metal n stuff" :) Great vid (as always), very cool pedal
Jesus Pete... I'm so used to asking you about gear I forget just how unbelievable of a guitar player you are
Cody Carrig thanks Cody! I think I'm a hack! Still much to learn
That lick at the 1:00 mark (!) Holy hell, Peter... How'd you even pick that?!
wgb01001 my 1 sweep Lick 😂
WOW you ripped my frigging face off. Great track and may be my favorite dirty sound I've heard here. There goes my $$$
I also like the cayon delay pedal one could really make some serious melodys with this
Amazing playing as always. If this demo doesn't convince people to get this pedal, frankly nothing else will. On a side note, does anyone else get the impression that this is what the Strymon drive pedal should have been in the 1st place?
Something seems to be missing in the high end, like the very top end sizzle is cut off. Anyone else noticed this?
one of my fave tracks from you man. heavy as fuck. love it.
fabrizio peretti thank you!
You are a real versatile player. I am hearing some Ty Tabor influence I think.
William Son ❤️ kings x from waaay back.
Your´re the fucking greatest guitar player in the world! So melodic! So technically brilliant! Fantastic!!
I'm very familiar with Elektron. They are a high quality company, through and through.
I wonder how could Pete sound via Boss Katana or other modeler. This could be cool to see nice sounding vid of these.
Way Nice'EnormousAwesomeness!👍🎸🎼
Pete, you have the best demos on RUclips!
Also, I think you should go ahead and buy that bass, unless you are doing the "Minnie Pearl" thing! LOL. Great stuff!
BakerImageGroup haha! :) I don't know I have to try the bass a little more to be sure.... another couple years
Sounds very good, and great demo as usual .. thanks Pete, gonna check the price and just to give credit where due, I would buy something if it's what I'm looking for without having to try it out safely knowing it's been given your approval and listening to your excellent straight to the point demo's .. very professional .. 10/10 👍👍👍🎸🔊🎵🎵🎵
You made that pedal sound amazing! Any noise gate or noise reduction software in the chain? The other demos of this pedal have been a bit noisy, and you've got such a clean signal, even with the super high gain settings.
Blair McClenny doesn't seem to be exceptionally noisy, to me, anytime you add gain there will be some increase in the noise floor but it seems fine
Great! Thanks for the reply. I really can't get enough of your gear videos. They're just great. Thanks!
Is this pedal good? I dont know as i havent used it. One thing i do know is that it will not replace all of your dirt boxes on your board. Why? Because we use differentl boxes in different places on our boards.
sounds sick
when will the next Q&A video come out?
I'm on the hunt. I have really great amps. I love them for rhythm, but leads not so much. Whats you favorite pedal for shred a la Vai/Satch.
Thanks.
Another great review and inspirational playing! BTW, What is that beauty you are strumming on for the first couple of riffs?
Jim O'Brien and hats my EVH Wolfgang, strung with heavy strings tuned to drop C :)
Can you boost one circuit with another? octave into thick gain for example?
just wondering on price on Elktron Analog drive and is it preamp tube driven?
On the strength of that I ordered one today ! So on one of the examples you have a delay ! Did you use it in line or in the fx send and return in the amp ??
Awesome playing as usual Pete 🎸
Great demo Pete! I really like the new format with the looper. What Cabinet/Mic or IR did you use with the PT100 here? Cheers.
yeah this intro sounds perfect
Alexis Alescio thanks!
Thanks.
Since it is digitally controlled, is this a true analog pedal?
Hey Pete would you be so kind to tell us what is your RECORDING chain... I would love to know what you use to record the guitar .. thanks in advance!
kennyopr generally it's guitar- tuner (TC polytune)- amp (usually PT100) - suhr reactive load- lately, a meris preamp into the line in- UA Apollo Interface- Logic- mixIR2 plugin to host IRs for speaker simulation. Mostly using the new Celestion IR's. That's it!
kick ass man! Thank you !
Great sounds and performance as always....Pete do you do all the production yourself or do you have Interns running around like Santa's Elves ?
I wonder if the Elektron will sound half as good when connected to a solid state amp or even a modeler?
I have not tried that with mine. I doubt it would sound right. Will report back. Am jamming tomorrow and going to get more acquainted with it. I have been using it in conjunction with an Eventide H9 to switch presets live and it works perfectly and sounds KILLER.
Pete have you ever demoed a Zoom G5n?
After some time away from this Pete, what are your thoughts? It seems that you were pretty inspired in this video in particular. The sounds are very organic. Do you agree?
+David Marshall definitely a nice pedal!
@PeteThorn Hey, Pete! Wondering if this was recorded with a mic, or if you recorded this with a reactive load and IRs? Thanks!
I really liked the opening track, but when you solo'd the parts it kind of lost it's luster. I should really consider more "in the mix" type noises when I play with things. Great demo!
Aaron Profitt a song is always the sum of its parts!
What are your plans for that Distressor back there? :)
TheFelineEmpire cuttin vicals!!!!
TheFelineEmpire vocals that is! Haha
