NOO WAYYY YOU REACTED TO ASOKA! OHMYGOD! PROBABLY THE FIRST REACTION CHANNEL TO DO THAT! That's one absofreakinglutely underrated movie! The entire cast and crew literally put their blood and sweat into this. There's a book on the making of this film by Mushtaq Sheikh.
    Here's a little anecdote:
“Asoka is the story of the greatest emperor of our country, whose mark stands proudly on our national flag and government buildings. But you know what's the fun fact about the film? You might wonder what made the film Asoka, and not Ashoka. In Asoka, the 'h' for history has been dropped since there's no history in Asoka, the film. It is just a myth and a legend. Another fun fact is that the makers decided to have a tag line along with the title of the film, Asoka. After cut throat competition, three lines make it for final consideration.
    1. ASOKA
Only the dead have seen the end of war.
    2. ASOKA
    History rewritten.
    3. ASOKA
His story rewritten (History - HIS STORY REWRITTEN).”
But finally towards the end, Santosh Sivan decided not to put a tagline. He explained that Asoka is great and nothing can be greater. That's why Asoka the Great was changed to Asoka. Adding a tagline to explain Asoka or entice a mass following undermines and betrays the basic arrogance of Asoka. This is not in keeping with the spirit of the movie. (Excerpts from the book Making of Asoka by Mushtaq Sheikh, 2001)

      @aliaaa20 2 месяца назад +21

@@AdityaLad-s6e There are always people like you who'd have absolutely zero knowledge about something but still would go on arguing. The name of the film is Asoka, not Ashoka. There's no historical connection with the film. Yes, it's a film made on Ashoka, but it is based on the myths, folklores and legends that surround this figure. Asoka isn't a biography of the emperor Ashoka! Go and study history books if you want to know about the figure himself. Don't expect films to be your source of education.

Fake story. He was the biggest tyrant in the history of India. He single handedly finished off the Jain community and did major genocide of hindus as well. One of the best movies of Indian Cinema and super underrated
    Great choice buds❤
SRK owned this role as Raja Asoka.
He is the Greatest Indian Emperor of all times and he had the control of the whole of India during his reign.
The Kalinga war is a great chapter in his life which changed him to become a Buddhist monk.
Asoka’s arrogance is shown in this movie very well by srk.
Asoka wanted to conquer the world but after he killed so many in the Kalinga war.
The bloodshed broke him completely and he stopped fighting wars.
The historical data in the movie might be a little wrong, but the depiction of Asoka is on point.
As I said, srk pulled it off brilliantly

    • @MilkMocha56
      @MilkMocha56 2 месяца назад

Ashokavadana is 2nd century book published by Buddhist monk which talks about life of Ashoka. No Buddhist source ever mentioned that Ashoka accepted Buddhism after Kalinga war.
Even Sri lankan Buddhists claim that Ashoka was already Buddhist 4 years before his kingship.
He also carved a warning tablet after Kalinga war ,asking people to surrender to him.
So there is no record of him apologising or having a change of heart. If Buddhist texts of 2nd century is saying so, shall we believe them or 1850s British version of story?
Cuz they were trying to whitewash their own genixid of Indians.

I know the reviews for this movie were divided. But, I really like this movie. It's a solid movie in my opinion. Very underrated. An epic story that was beautifully made and not over the top. I am not an Indian. Everything I know about the real Ashoka is just on the surface and very basic. So, I don't how accurate or inaccurate this movie is. But, technically, the cinematograph and the music were just so beautiful, the stunts, costume and set design, and the acting were very solid. I am so happy you made a reaction to this.

Bro thinks that Asoka was a buffed body builder.
    Stop reading comics bro.
Indians have always been skinny, even the kings.
But they used to be skinny and strong.
They trained themselves hard and that’s why they were able to lift those heavy swords.
Being buffed is not a trait of Indian kings.
Also mostly buffed kings came from the Delhi sultanate or Mughals who were not Indian to begin with.
And why don’t you all complain about HR who played Akbar with a normal body.
Akbar when he grew up, was a very heavy strong guy unlike Asoka who was slim, great with horses and the master of swords.

Ashoka is the greatest king of India. Nobody in history can match him.

Ashoka was one of the Greatest or the Greatest Emperor in India and the World. His grandfather being the Great Chandragupta Maurya, who was the Founder of the Mauryan Dynasty. Majority of what is told in this not so interesting adaptation of Ashoka's past is mostly false. Many things told are not historically accurate, and the acting is also quite terrible, especially when its from a well established actor like SRK. This film was a flop, and thank god it was. Those who deny my comment, I know its your opinion, but I can guarantee, you do not know Indian History, you do not know Ashoka. Nothing much in this film is accurate enough to show what Ashoka really was and how he achieved the title of Ashoka the Great. I also understand it is not very easy to put in the entire life of Ashoka in one single movie, But if the director and the team have considered to make a movie on Ashoka, they should also have the determination to make a Historically accurate one. Maybe some stuff were made to avoid controversies. But little did they know, that hiding a lot of history has led to various controversies regarding this film.
I am a crazy lover of History. Chandragupta Maurya, Ashoka and the Mauryan dynasty or one of my favorite topics that i have ever learned. One of the Greatest Kings in my opinion. But this film poorly portrays Ashoka. Despite being a huge fan of the Great Emperor, this film was EXTREMELY BORING to me.
Like it or not, even tho the film was made years ago, I dont think SRK is a suitable actor to Portray Ashoka the Great. I know that Kareena kapoor is No way a good actor to Portray Kaurwaki. Most of the casting felt quite weak. Songs werent that powerful, even tho few of them were quite heart touching and good. Director wasnt well established in the field of making epic period films.
tho Ashoka and the Mauryan history is more than a 11/10 rating to me, this film deserves just a 3/10 rating. I could say tho, It was quite a decent try, but could have been way better while they even considered to make the movie in the first place
Telling this again, its solely my opinion, Not meant to offend anyone. If anyone gets offended, Please do know, you know Nothing of the Mauryan Empire.

I think the flying leaps they're doing during the sword fights is inspired by Kalaripayuttu, an ancient Indian martial arts technique. Not sure if it is deliberate, but since Asoka was born before Christ, this technique would have been the standard back then.
