But you know what's the fun fact about the film? You might wonder what made the film Asoka, and not Ashoka. In Asoka, the 'h' for history has been dropped since there's no history in Asoka, the film. Ashokavadana is 2nd century book published by Buddhist monk which talks about life of Ashoka. No Buddhist source ever mentioned that Ashoka accepted Buddhism after Kalinga war. Even Sri lankan Buddhists claim that Ashoka was already Buddhist 4 years before his kingship. He also carved a warning tablet after Kalinga war ,asking people to surrender to him.
