The reason they went for the music video at 9:00 is because the scene, the context and the song were all there at this exact point in the original Amitabh Bachchan classic.
To answer Jaby's question at 9:30 , yes Kareena was a huge star back then also, with huge movies lining up like Omkara, Tashan, Jab We Met to name a few, with her starry public appearances with the then boyfriend Shahid Kapoor, with multiple special apperances in several movies... this being one of them where she can be seen recreating this iconic song of the legendary Helen. Generally stars were considered for special appearances back then and the fact that she was chosen to fit into Helen's shoes, was testament to her stardom back then. Also if sources were to be believed back then, she was the first one to charge in crores for item numbers like these, in a male dominated industry.
Kareena was a huge star since her first film. She is a kapoor. She was a star even before she joined industry. People wanted to watch her.

You should also watch Don 2. I'm sure you will like it. Action part it too good in that.
Don 2 is one of the few sequels in bollywood that I absolutely love! The story (though cheesy at times) was so good!
True... Considering 2012 it has an awesome action sequences.
Best part is that most of it, almost all were self done... The car chasing, and specially that roof jump from skyscraper... All the behind footages are there and I am so thtilled that Srk had just recovered from that 2009 surgery and still went on to do it.
But luck is so unfavorable, just after completing this he broke his arm in Chennai Express.
Sad life but he didn't stop again in Fan.
He gave his best. But there he used a bit body double.
Don 2 is 100X bigger and grand than this! That is a must watch!!
This movie released way back in 2006 but the action sequences and cinematography is still better than some of the recent action movies in today's time.

The reason that Rikshaw blew up like that is because it's a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) vehicle, and even a tiny spark near the gas tank would make it blow up like that as it's HIGHLY inflammable, so yeah that shot wasn't as illogical afterall.

It's a remake of Amitabh Bacchan's 70s classic. That's why they had to keep most of the iconic dialogues and scenes as is( Kareena Kapoor's dance sequence), though it may seem cringe or out of place 40 years later

Also, this movie is a remake of the old Don(starring Amitabh Bachchan) so the starcast is also equally massive to fill the shoes of the legendary original stars. Kareena was the highest paid actor at this time surpassing her contemporaries including Priyanka.

19:36 The hero you saw in last is Arjun Rampal. My very fav and most under-rated in the history of bollywood as he was most handsome, best actor yet he didnt became a superstar. SRK is a good frnd of him so he came with him in some movies. You can watch "ankhain" starring him, akshay kumar, amitab bachan and paresh rawal maybe to know how good a actor he is. "Ankhain" is a very good movie of early 2000s.

That music video in the seduction scene was a testament to the original down to the music of choice. There are more references throughout the movie which old timers would like but would seem Bizzare to us, like the untimely action sequences and music videos.
Don2 is peak of Indian action movies for me... I was blown away by it... Loved storytelling... You should def watch it after this
