Thanks man! I have a question... in the third verse, Uncle Kracker modulates to a different key... you know the part... "Can't give you money... can't give you the sky..." In the original it goes from F# to G. Can you help me out and give me an idea where to play up from these notes... it doesn't work to use the same chords... I tried! Help o great guru of stringy things! :-)
I love this version of the song, and your chord changes are really nice; I'm going to work on them. I like the use of fingers versus pick for variety. However, the recording is actually in F, not E (unless you have your Taylor tuned up 1/2 step). But in standard tuning, the chords go F / Bb / C, back and forth. At the bridge or break it goes to Gm / F / Gm / G maj / C / C7 then back to F. Tell me if I am mistaken, but I just spent an hour playing along with the video.

You go over the chords way too fast for a beginner... like even on the first chord @ 1:17 , what does “5th and 4th” mean?

Great lesson! But is it just E, A, C#m, B through out the whole song? And also is there a website that has this specific way of playing the song? I follow along easier if I have like the chords in front of me telling me what to play and when
Jessica D you can find it on ultimate guitar or one of those sites..and hit "transpose" until it changes to these chords. If you're new to transposing chords, type in "Matt mccoy transpose" and see if that lesson can help you.

Matt you posted video a couple of weeks ago but I can no longer find it and I don't know the name of the song, but it starts off with a G cord strum D UDU to an F cord same strum to a C cord, You said it was a slow song strum, can you tell me the name of the song.
