One thing people don't talk about. Your board has to be weightless before it pops. That way when you drag your front foot and lift your back, there's nothing keeping it down. Bend your knees, jump and right before your feet leave the board, pop. That's where the timing comes in for the most part. Jump, pop and right before you leave the board, pop. You wanna start popping as you straighten your legs at the last part of the jump. Then slide your foot until your nose stops your foot. I guarantee you'll get your Ollie faster if you think about it like this. Remember, no weight on the board. JUMP!
That's what is happening with me... To be honest, it has happened when I was younger and I couldn't Ollie... And it's happening today as I'm older and getting back to skating... It's frustrating lol. But I'll get there with these tips! Thanks!

There is a girl who does a tutorial on ollies.. And I think her video is better... She makes it clear that on the pop the foot shouldn't really make contact with the floor... You've got to somewhat flick the tail.
Yo bro Go to the park again, practice practice practice. Other Skaters wont look at you Like "ey that guy is a skate looser". They will Help U. Ask us if u see us skating. We all are cool chilled people who enjoy seeing other people learning Skateboarding. We are one fam bro

When you do that pop thing don't take the foot to all the way down to the ground with that tail thing... You've got to kick your foot down so the tail hits the ground but your foot mustn't follow down to the ground with that tail.... Yep... Spot on.
I was about to comment this as well. I learnt how to Ollie from this video but I feel like it took a lot longer because I didn't realize that your foot never stays on the tail and instead is actually on its way up even before the tail makes xo tact with the gound
Aaron isn't kidding when he says you gotta get comfortable just riding around on your board. I started skating one summer ago and I decided to just take the entire year to ride around, turn, go fast, go slow, balance on one foot, so on and so forth before ever trying to Ollie or do any tricks. It made an absolute world of difference, and now in my second year skating I'm learning to Ollie.

Things I’ve learned on trying an Ollie and giving up three times over the course of 8 years) something they don’t tell you is when to pop. Imagine your jump has three stages, the push down, the push up, and the release. The key is to pop RIGHT as you finish pushing up and your legs start to straighten. Second main thing is that the sliding foot is not only for stabilizing, that slide helps pull the bird up for higher Ollie’s. So if you’re stuck not getting enough pop, try pulling the board up with your sliding foot more.
I just found my board in the basement. I’ll turn 60 in October. I skated from ‘73 to ‘79 and then again when my son started skating. That was from ‘98 to 2000. I chipped my hip slamming hard after catching my back truck while trying to Ollie up a 3-stair with my son and decided to hang it up because I was coaching soccer and needed to not be sidelined from my occupation. I just skated for an hour this morning and my goal is to land a tre-flip by my 60th birthday. This vid helped remind me of some stuff and made it easier to see because I skate goofy. Thanks for sharing your work and insights!
*FOR ANYONE LEARNING HOW TO OLLIE ONLY* I learned how to ollie in just 2 days. Today being one of them. If you are trying to pop too much then try to stop that habit. Also don't lean towards your back foot, lean towards your front foot. That was my key to success. Before you fully commit but after the steps given by Aaron in the video, try stepping off with your back foot after popping and focus on your front foot dragging up the board. Do that for a while. After that try committing. Leaning towards your front foot should help with the board not going in front of you. I hope that anyone reading this can find success after reading this.
+Corey Smith definitely gonna have to try this. I've been trying to Ollie ever since I got my skateboard 2 years ago but I usually bail out of it and just ride around for a few hours instead of actually practicing lol
Okay, haven't yet tried it yet (just watched now), but I really appreciate that -- in contrast to so many other "how to ollie" videos out there -- he didn't present a "trick" to getting it other than repetitive practice and making sure you're comfortable on the board. This feels like the right way to learn it.
Here’s the step for anyone who missed them: Step one: vibe with your board Step two: *p0p* Step three: destroy your shoes so you don’t look like a poser Step four: step on the other side Step five: get out your stop watch Step six: full send the ollie and there you go
I just started skating again a couple of days ago and im the only girl there… i used to be terrified to skate in front of people because i hate being judged.. i was trying to ollie for like an hour and some kid came up to me introduced himself and took the time to help me out.. i didnt get very far cuz i was hella nervous but this video helped me so much! Cant wait to try again tomorrow
I've notice when people are first learning to Ollie, their back foot stays down way too long after the pop. Which we all did when we were learn. But then when you finally get that eureka moment and it all comes together! I remember popping and getting my back foot up in the air as quick as I could as my front foot was dragging my board through the air. Or something like that. Its hard for me to put it into words. That was 1984. We didn't know what a helmet was. Lol "Not the first Try!"✌❤
As soon as I tell people I have a skateboard there like do a trick and I'm like I don't know how to do one then they say your not a real skater The stupidity
And can ollie fingerboards repeatedly. I learned that 25 years ago somehow when tech decks first dropped. Bout to try real skating again. I REALLY want to ollie. I keep thinking i can do it when i watch videos then i try and just get frustrated lol.

I'm very probably younger than you since I'm born in 1990 but I can also relate in that you're saying. RUclips makes such a huge difference.
Dude your almost 60 and skating that's awesome
Me: practices for 2 hours
Ollie: non-existent
HUGE FACTS
😹😹😹😿
I’m trying to hard I broke my leg and I can’t do anything anymore
*FOR ANYONE LEARNING HOW TO OLLIE ONLY*
I learned how to ollie in just 2 days.
Thanks I'll try that I've been trying to olié for 3 days now !!! And still haven't made much progress
Breyden Did it work? It worked for me.
+Corey Smith definitely gonna have to try this. I've been trying to Ollie ever since I got my skateboard 2 years ago but I usually bail out of it and just ride around for a few hours instead of actually practicing lol
+Vulkatiian Dexi same. Lol
Thanks, will try this next time
I just landed my first ollie and i feel so accomplished 😭💗
how long did it take you?
Nice
@@romanehity2724 it took me 3 weeks to land first ollie haha
That s right!
Good for you, I'm 36 and trying to learn this crap all over again to teach my kid. Keep it up.
I’ve been skateboarding for years, and I’ve always had trouble with Ollie’s and this video helped me land it.
Me 1 year ago: Ok i got this
Also me after a year: Still cant ollie
Edit: i just did my first ollie after 1 year hihi
Same im so scared to jump lol
yeah dude same lol
aah I feel you T-T yeee congrats 💫

I did it in 2 days
I’m 38, and recently decided to get a skateboard. BEST ADVICE EVER!! Just ride!!
awesome, good luck!!
Same! Just takes longer to heal now lolz. I saw that 70 year old dude and I was like damn... I better get off my ass, no more “I’m too old”. 😂
That’s so cool I’m 16 and want to learn to skateboard. I hope by the time I get to 18 I can skate comfortably and do some alright tricks.
So your a dad that skateboards? That’s awesome
David Hudson haha datway
This man makes me feel like I can do anything finally got my confidence to skate back again after breaking my leg
So proud of you! That takes a lot of courage, u got this!!
proud of youuuu :)
Same here! Except I sprained it
dam
Proud of you buddy, you got this!
Okay, haven't yet tried it yet (just watched now), but I really appreciate that -- in contrast to so many other "how to ollie" videos out there -- he didn't present a "trick" to getting it other than repetitive practice and making sure you're comfortable on the board. This feels like the right way to learn it.
Just ride your board .... best advice EVER!

you tried ⭐️
At least say it when someone actually hearts and replies
nope. buddy he doesn't.
u look like ur begging for a heart
Lmao look at this bozo
Here’s the step for anyone who missed them:
Step one: vibe with your board
Step two: *p0p*
Step three: destroy your shoes so you don’t look like a poser
Step four: step on the other side
Step five: get out your stop watch
Step six: full send the ollie and there you go
the dude literally had OLLIE as a step, that's not helping.
What does poser mean ?
@@edifatkinson7641 some onw who fakes skateboarding to look "cool"
Brenya Dickens oh lol thanks
I just started skating again a couple of days ago and im the only girl there… i used to be terrified to skate in front of people because i hate being judged.. i was trying to ollie for like an hour and some kid came up to me introduced himself and took the time to help me out.. i didnt get very far cuz i was hella nervous but this video helped me so much! Cant wait to try again tomorrow
Right leg: okay just push the back down
Left leg : leg.exe has stopped
it’s not just pushing the back down, you only push it down with your foot. and like he said, just keep practicing those 2 steps just without the jump

H a h a h a. I guess you're a dad

I'm very probably younger than you since I'm born in 1990 but I can also relate in that you're saying.
RUclips makes such a huge difference. Younger skaters will not understand the struggle it used to be to learn things. This is especially true when you lived in smaller cities.
