Wow what a story. I have an 2018 TT RS stage 2 E85 tune. First any reputable shop would never put that sleeve on an intake. All aftermarket intakes use silicon couplers. I thought it was spark plugs or a bad fuel pump. I got my car from Texas, I live in the Philadelphia area. I agreed to the price and paid half to have the car delivered to my home. Got the car and was excited like you. 1 hour into the drive I got a CEL. Called immediately and was told it never happened to them. Turned it off , then back on and it disappeared. Fast forward 1 month and my car was riding very rough. Took it to my guy who works on my R8 and my MK5 Supra. Found out I had a bad front differential. Called the dealer and was treated like crap and hung up on. I went on Google reviews gave a horrible review and the owner called me. Got him to pay half the repair and a 2 yr unlimited warranty on the car. I’d rather not pay anything but it’s the best I could do. My car was certified by Audi with paper work so the tech just missed it. The car is super fun my car puts out 630 hp. Your car is even more modified to have that much HP. New Turbo, fuel pump, and internals. Don’t give up because you had an owner who didn’t know better and presumably a shop that didn’t either. Your car is awesome keep pushing bro.

I would probably have the same bad taste in my mouth on how I felt about the car going forward even though it was fixed. I say weigh your pros and cons on how you feel and then of course make that final decision. Keep her forever. Or let her go. :(

What you were describing with the half a tank hesitation is actually normal if you don’t have a surge tank. I’m surprised that the seller didn’t disclose that. My TT RS, and anyone else’s who is making good power, will also be unable to go WOT under half a tank unless you get an expensive ($5k+) surge tank setup.

    • @teejaylc
      @teejaylc  3 месяца назад

Yes I had the sane with my audi tt rs, you have to keep the fuel tank over half way up in order to make sure the filter housing and tube top is filtrated with fuel at all times as there is a 'kink' in the fuel tanks which reduces throughput... I did a pull last week and hit 650bhp going for 700 soon.

in my head, as soon as you go anything over a quick tune/dyno and start going into other mods then the car is no longer a daily driver, its a project car and anything could go wrong at anytime, so you better have another actual daily driver you can use. that's just how I've always personally seen it. glad you got it sorted though!

Having built 3 of these 2.5, i'd never take anything for face value unless tested. Smart on bringing it to a shop that knows more than you. Though seeing this, I bet there is tons of people that just purchased modded cars and start beating on them with out going through things first. Your last comments are just strange to me, not enjoying things because at one point it didn't drive right is part of working on modded cars period. Nothing is easier on these nor cheap. @@teejaylc i hear you. I had an Audi C7 S6 with the 4.0T making like 600 hp. Wow, but it wasn't the car for me; the set of compromises to love that car was more suited for a different person than I am.
I didn't want to wrench on the s6, even though it never gave me any trouble. I loved getting single digit mpgs, but didn't like paying for premium unleaded, E85 goes a lot faster for a lot more too.
In the end i enjoy my Audi C7 TDI a lot more. Its the girl I know is right for me even though she is ladened with diesel emissions stuff that keeps her from singing as nicely as she could, but overall every time I look at her I love what I see. And yes, wrenching on her is a pleasure.
As for the TTRS?... thats more my girl than an RS3 in terms of 5 cylinder perfection. I don't know that I like the AWD setup as much as the more traditional longitudinal mounted engine cars... the additional utility of the RS3 may make it more practical.
Those are my 2cents. Either way enjoy because you certainly deserve to.

Hey brother... I know exactly what you mean / went through.
I'm going to try and make a long story short. I'm from the Houston TX area and a few years ago I had my mind set on acquiring something fast. I'm not afraid to name - names because they deserve it!
I ended up reaching out to this guy named Jory from Garland, TX (just north of Dallas) for his modified supercharged 392 Challenger. I went up, looked at the car, drove it, and It drove strong.
Came back to Houston and decided to move ahead with the purchase. I went back to Garland to complete the purchase and when I arrived at Jory's house, he was in his garage with the trunk open working on the car and gave me some lame story about him making sure the car was good to go and setting back the fuel lines to the rest he had it (I should have cancelled the deal at that point, but didn't). I completed the purchase and half-way on the drive home the car started to overheat and I had to pull over. I called Jory and he stated he should have just left it the way it was when he was working on it in the garage when I came to pick it up, but he didn't have any idea why it was overheating.
I had to have the car towed to Houston and I'm my haste I did a quick Google search on a performance shop to tow the car to and had it towed to HPC. (High Performance Connection) located on 17603 Kuykendahl Rd in Spring, TX. MISTAKE #2!!!
They (A person by the name of Ellie) said they would get it done right, but never told me a price (I swear I could kick myself for being so brain dead at the time!). When they told me the car was ready, they finally sent me the invoice and the invoice was for $4600.00!!!
When I looked at the invoice they did a bunch of unnecessary things, like installing a new battery, brake cleaner, etc.! Which was ridiculous!! I was pissed! Ellie and I went back and forth regarding the cost. But here's the second kicker, driving on the way home from the HPC the car overheated again about 10 minutes from my house!! I pulled over and ripped into Ellie!!
I let the car cool down for a couple of hours and then creeped home. Ellie stated her was going to send a mechanic over to the house to look at the car. A mechanic came over and did something to the car and stated he had to take it back to HPC. I can go on and on!! I finally got the car back after spending an additional $600 and decided to sell it. The car was functioning well when I sold it, but I refused to put another dime in it!!
I am very honest and upfront. I told the person I sold the car to the entire saga and what I just spent on the car. He stated he was really good at turning wrenches and wasn't worried about it, since it seemed like I got it corrected. He actually felt bad and apologized for the experience I went through with Jory and HPC.
In your case I really think you've ironed everything out when you picked it up from Matt. Keep it and enjoy it since it's your dream car!
God willing, I'm in the process of purchasing my dream car, which is a manual TTRS.
Thank you for your story and sharing it with the community!

When you looking to buy your dream car especially knowing your plan was to modify it and go stage 3 you should have done your research and see which shops around you actually can do the stage 3 build and after buying the built car take it to them for an overview.
Your issues would have been sorted much faster and you wouldn’t have felt so upset or sad about having your dream car. But now that’s it’s fixed enjoy it and slay some supercars 🔥

@@teejaylc Hiya, Congrats on a lovely TT. sorry to hear of all your car issues, what a nightmare:( Guess the morale of the tale is to get your car to the best experts you can find!!!
My 2020 TTRS is running at 570bhp on 99Ron/oct. That combined with the water/meth it'll touch 620bhp on the stock turbo. My engine block is forged, as is all the internals., however, torque has still been capped at 685nm to keep an expensive build safe! That being said, you may want to have your torque checked? As it can damage con-rods, Transfer Box, also put the Mechatronic Box at risk? So, avoid lots of launches if possible, as they can knacker internals, especially if those NM's aren't capped?
As for my troubles? At 49,000mls my Transferbox busted, also bending the Output Shaft? All of which I had to get rebuilt, with a repair bill of £3,300gbp. "Ouch"
Unfortunately my TT was then off the road for 6 weeks as the Output Shaft was on back order from the main Audi Dealership? Btw, the Audi price for the Transferbox is £4,000gbp, as they will not repair them? (no way) For the record though, mine was rebuilt using stronger bearing's for my power output, as it was the main bearing that collapsed and done all the damage!!! Also make sure the Transferbox is serviced at the correct interval's, as often overlooked by Audi? There's tales of woe on the web about that.... Even TTRS's running totally stock have had issues., probably low, or no oil??
Meanwhile running your power? you've gotta keep in mind the above! Also, an engine oil change every 6k is advisable. As for keeping your car? You may feel like me...Better the devil you know. Take care and thanks for sharing.

You seem like a nice guy. But for the love of god never never ever buy some strangers project car sight unseen!!!! Also huge red flag 🚩 he accepted your low ball offer. To buy a stage 3 vehicle you have to know an owner well, or seen his modification journey on a forum, also to see who did the work. You made a huge rookie mistake pal. That said the way you dealt with the situation was commendable. So glad you found a decent shop to work through the niggles. When people modify cars and sell them on you are buying something that is out of oem tolerance, and if not done correctly can be a can of worms. Get yourself a Ross tech cable and learn how to read codes and engine data. You will feel more confident knowing you can diagnose. Live with the car now she is fixed, learn to enjoy and trust her all over again. I understand your head is a mess after all you have learnt and been through. But get this, now she is fixed and you paid less for the car, you have the last laugh over the two faced previous owner. Plus you have learnt so much about your car. Just bought a 2018 Catalunya red ttrs completely stock, it’s amazing. I’d say sell yours and start fresh with a new one, that way you know from the ground up it’s built bright. Plus you’ll get peace of mind and the enjoyment you should’ve had from the very beginning

sorry but if ever buy modified car you need to have some wisdom and good tuner background.... It looks like classic lack of basic tuner cars knowledge... From the beginning i knew that car had fueling and bad remap problems.... You trashed broken car for almost a year.... sorry next time find a proper tuner shop and repair you car before you drive it.... As owner of vr6 3.2turbo audi tt which i use as daily... i think that i would sell this car and buy another one with clean record... it might be broken beyond repair....

Cry me a damn river! For real. Your issues with this car have been basic as hell.
I bought a wavetrac lsd. I do all my own work. I put it in and trans issues. Take it out and all looks good. Try again trans issue. Have a buddy help and trans issue. Take it 7 hours away to a special shops. Again trans issues. Take it to a local German shop guess what trans issue. Finally decided to do it 1 more time on my own and find the lsd was wrong and wavetrac knew about it. So I but a new trans and in the process of install short the electrical system. A year of throwing parts at it. 2 dealers looked at it. Another 2 shops tried Finally a guy from south Africa remoted in and saw my issue in 5 minutes. Got all computers going car fired up. Finished trans install. 1.5 years later I drove the car again.
30,000$ in repairs just to drive it again. Would have been built by now.
Your issue are normal car stuff. Any new car gets a fresh oil change day 1. New plugs new filters. New gas. And running e85 I check every other fill up the e content with a simple checker.

@@teejaylc no man you man a good ass video that I watched. So props to you. But the issues that you ran into were not bad is my point. No need to cry about it or act like your super car killer is a lemon. It's gonna break again and again gotta get used to it.
