Thank you for not putting some sh*tty background music to this and preserving the original audio.

I'm not a big fan of turning everything into a music video. Music has its place, but if you shoot video with good sound in mind, you shouldn't have to cover it up with a bad soundtrack.

One of those rare (not on this channel) vids where spinning blades are shown realistically.

Thanks for noticing, Jet Ranger. That's a detail that most people don't notice.

***** love the Huey sound- great video- did you shoot with as slow a shutter speed as you can to show the rotors spinning 'realistically' or did you do something else 'photoraphically' speaking to create this result?

justinspirational I'm shooting at between 1/30 and 1/60 of a second depending on the light. You can actually see how the rotors are spinning through the view finder and I adjust shutter speed until the tail rotor is a full disc.

Great video & realistic also, Thanks for sharing. I love the sound of the Huey Wop-Wop of the main blades. How did they ever think they could sneak up on people in Vietnam, you can hear those blades for at least 3 miles before they reach your location.

iflyhelis it wasn't about sneaking up, it was about getting there quickly into remote areas other aircraft couldn't.

Always gives you a good feeling though when things are going to shit and you hear the wop-wop-wop-wop as a Huey approaches for a bucket drop. First time I ever saw a Huey drop up close they literally dropped across the hood of the unit. The next two drops were near, and then on, a burning shed that I was standing by.
It was so awe inspiring to be standing there in the rotorwash as they come in and drop, then after they drop it feels like its raining for a solid 10 seconds afterwards despite the fact that they dropped 30 feet away.
I don't know what the new Firehawks will sound like, but it will be sad to no longer hear that wop-wop-wop and know that the Calvary has arrived.

I feel like it's kind of useless to have a marshaller to signal a help into an open field LZ with a Bambi bucket but that's just me. Maybe it was just a good opportunity to practice marshalling. I don't really know.

That. Initial take off was pure “hot dogging” I would expect more from them especially being on video.
