I believe this was Dimash's first solo concert and it was a dream come true for him to be able to sing these meaningful songs he loves in front of a huge crowd of his fellow countrymen. The emotion of the moment clearly got to him.

Thank you for your reaction. Dimash arranged this when he was 15. This performance is part of the Bastau concert, which was his first solo concert and a celebration of his success in China.

Thank you for your reaction. Yes, Dimash got very emotional here, not only because this was his first solo concert after China, the song was very special to him as well. That huge group of dombra players, or dombra men, need to understand, dombra is traditional instrument in Kazakhstan 🇰🇿. Dimash had once said that if you are a true Kazakh, you must have a dombra and learn how to play it. There he was dressed in traditional Kazakh outfit looking every bit the Kazakh prince we all love. 💕 His emotions overwhelmed him at the end. He knelt down and bowed down low to the floor to show his immense gratitude to his audience… What an amazing person and phenomenal artist. Love Dimash❤😊

In addition to the information from others in the comments about the background of this song, I’d like to add that Dimash re-arranged the music to this song when he was about 15 years old. He told his teachers that ‘it should resound in a new way’. He dreamt that one day he would sing it all over the world on big stages (bringing Kazakh history/songs to the world). So this performance was really a dream come true for him especially when the international audience joined in singing it with him!! Even today Kazakhs in the audience often can’t quite believe that his followers join in singing this song & get emotional!

Thank you for doing this incredible performance. The instrument is the Dombra btw. Did you see that Dimash's inner ear monitor was not working and he signaled off stage, but he still went on to do this wonderful vocal and it was so beautiful and emotional. This is a story about a man that was wrongfully arrested for treason. While in prison he was lied to about his love. They told him that she no longer loved him. He wrote this poem to her. Later he was released and they were reunited. He was later arrested again and died in prison.

As always, fantastic reactions. There is a sad true story behind this song. This is from Google….The song “Daididau” is about the love and heartbreak of Kazakh poet and scientist Magzhan Zhumabayev (1893-1938):
    Imprisonment
Zhumabayev was arrested and sent to a Siberian prison camp for political adversaries.
    False news
While in prison, Zhumabayev learned that his wife had left him, but she actually never did.
    Reunion
Zhumabayev was released from prison in 1936 and reunited with his wife.
    Execution
Zhumabayev was arrested again and executed in 1938 as an enemy of the state.
    Song
Zhumabayev wrote the song to express his feelings for his wife, calling her “Daididau”.
The song was long considered folk, but scientists later discovered that Zhumabayev wrote it. Dimash Daididau performed the song in the 2017 Singer competition, wowing the audience.
I believe this performance is his 1st Solo Concert after The Singer. ❤❤❤

This song is very sad and it tells about a very dark time in the history of Kazakhstan, not so long ago. In case you are interested in the history of this song.
The Kazakh poet and writer Magzhan Zumabayev was sentenced by the Russian regime to 10 years in prison for conspiracy in 1929 and imprisoned. While in custody there, he was falsely (probably more intentionally) told that his wife (her nickname was Daididau) had left him. If I am correctly informed he is said to have written the lines of the song in prison (as a letter to his wife), probably to express his deep sadness and despair over is.
Although he was released in 1934, he was arrested again a few months later and was executed 1937.
The lyrics of this song are so sad I could cry every time I hear it. It never leaves me unmoved. Even after hearing it so many times.
I was at his concert in Düsseldorf in 2022 and will be there again in November 2024. He always performs this song in his concerts, playing the dombra (a Kazakh folk instrument) and asking his Dears to sing with him in his Kazakh language (he looks like a Kazakh prince with his traditional clothes). Every Dear knows many of his lyrics in Kazakh and we love singing his songs with him at his concerts. I find it incredibly impressive and wonderful how a single man manages to bring together so many people from meanwhile 150 different countries and continents with so many different views in politics or religion, with so many different languages in a common group and to celebrate peacefully together and to sing in his own language. You always can see how proud he is of his country and how happy and moved he is when the audience sings with him in his concerts🥰.
    Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

This song is based on a poem by famed poet and patriot Magzhan Zhumabayev.
Magzhan Zhumabayev was writing about freedom and modernization. In 1912 his Kazakh poetry collected with the "Şolpan" name was published and quickly became popular among Kazakh intellectuals. In 1917 he was accused of being Pan-Turkist member of Alaş Orda and Japanese spy, and was arrested and got convicted for 10 years.
During his time in prison, he was mistakenly informed that his wife left him. The song Daididau is a response to this information:
"Are you determined to leave me?
To whom shall I divulge my sorrow?"
He did find out it was a lie and reunited with his wife after his incarceration.
Sadly, he was arrested just a year later and executed.

Dimash brought this Kazakh song to the Chinese stage in 2017 when he was on "The Singer" competition. Dears have been singing it since.
Last year, Dimash's family opened a restaurant named "Daididau". There are some of Dimash's costumes on display. (Some are based on Kazakh stories.) Some instruments are displayed as well. Everything looks amazing! 😄
A big Kazakh news source "The Astana Times", had a story about the restaurant. It's so beautiful!

👉 ADAI is popular in Kazakhstan and is composed by one of the greatest dombra players, the Kazakh folk musician and composer Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly (1823-1896).
👉 DAIDIDAU is a poem written in prison by Maghzhan Zhumabayev.
Thanks to the great performance of Dimash Kudaibergen in 2017 (The Singer). Daididau is now the most famous Kazakh song in the world. (Dimash's stage costume is based on the traditional Kazakh coat, called Shapan.)
The true story: The poet Maghzhan Zhumabayev was in prison in Stalingrad (now Petersburg/Russia) and had just been informed that his wife had left him. This song was his answer. He named his wife Daididau (it could be derived from 'дедім айдай ау' - the moon-like one.) It was false information, a way to torture him and others arrested for conspiracy. Also through Gorky's (a famous Russian writer) intercession, Zhumabayev was released. He saw his wife again, but only for a short time. He was executed by the Stalin regime in 1938.
The widow secretly collected all his poems. (They were banned until 1989).
This song was first used in the Kazakh-Soviet film 'Shanyrak' directed by Edige Bolysbayev and thus became known and very important for the Kazakh people.
