I guess we are fortunate that this line is still open for the Savannahlander services, rather than ripped up like the line to Atherton/Herberton. Looks like there was a decent amount of freight at those times. Last freight I saw on this line from Mareeba was sugar syrup a few years back. Speed restrictions on this line are a problem.
Yes, but it’s not the same as a mixed train. I’m glade rode it. Queensland is the only place I rode a true mixed train, since they held on much longer than elsewhere!
After I Rode on the Gulflander Train from Normanton To Croydon back in November 1992 I remember talking to this Woman who was going back to Cairns to catch the Cairns-Forsayth Train this is before it was called The Savannahlander Train! Was The first time I'd heard of the Train!😀🚞🚇🛤️🌴🐂🦎🐍🇦🇺
Was the shunting at around 40 minutes in at Einasleigh? I was trying to pick out places from our Savannahlander trip in Nov 2018, none looked familiar as we only went as far as Lynbrook on the Rail Motor, the rest was by coach because the last bridge before Mt Surprise was burnt by a bush fire. Anthony
I guess any footage of the old Forsayth mixed is better than no footage at all. I don't seem to recall Mt Surprise, Alma-Den, Dimbulah, Mutchilba, etc. but then, beggars can't be choosers.

My father, Bruce, was a guard on many of these trips (along with some others that you've posted).
I did the Forsayth train three times mid 80's/early 90's ... the GM/EMD 8 cylinder 645 engine certainly has a sweet growl to it ....
This is awesome, thanks for sharing 🤠.
Outstanding, thank you.
Would have been the trip of a lifetime on the old Queensland Railways Cairns-Forsayth Train!🤗🚞🚇🛤️🏜️🌴🐍🦎🐂🇦🇺
Yes, sadly all the quaint parts of Queensland rail are how history
It was a great trip!

Anthony
40 minutes is Forsayth
This line is still active ppl.
The only train that goes past Kuranda and onto Forsayth is the Savannahlander, and that only goes once a week and not all year round. Sadly.
16:50 It's funny - the speedometer makes the same ticking sounds as the Soviet speedometer SL-2M :)
This was Hasler speedo
Would of been a great train trip.
Bought The DVD The Savannahlander by Anthony Buckley at the Model Railway Show in Caulfield Melbourne a few years ago well worth getting!😀💿🚞🚇🛤️🌴🍍🍌🐂🐗🇦🇺

Yes I’m glade I did it!. You can’t but things off in this game!
How long was the journey?
15 hours from Toowoomba
@@andrewsurgenor1294 geez that long whow
@@matthewmassarotti2596 top speed around 50km/h
@@andrewsurgenor1294 is that because the state of the track
@@matthewmassarotti2596 Yes and shunting. Plus the wooden cars had seen better days !
The govt need to connect forsayth and croydon
Be a great idea! But then The Normanton-Croydon Line would lose its status as an isolated Railway Line!🤔🚞🛤️🐂🐊🦎🐍🌴🇦🇺
Don't know if that creature skurrying away from the Railway Line in the first 30 Seconds was a Lizard or a Crocodile?🤔🦎🐊
Crocodile
