Super handy for printing gaskets in TPU, used it for a long time. Just scan a flanged object on a flatbed scanner, clean the image up in paint program of choice and all good.
Lithophane or lithograph. Convert to greyscale first and add a border (I like irfanview for simple image edits). Darker is higher. 100% infill, 30mm/s, 0.12 layer height. Print it vertically with the image in the x axis. Printing flat creates artifacts.
Ive used this for some time, Ive found on certain pictures converting to a black and white helps with details before importing. Also instead of searching using there open file function you can just drag and drop from your explorer into cura, makes easier then switching to what file your looking for.
good lord it feels like you have SO many cool tips and tricks on this channel that always come in handy when i need them...the stamps, the tpu settings, the slicing tolerance, and now this? people have said it before but you deserve WAY more subscribers for all the cool work you do!!
This works really well. I made one of my black dog against a light background and it looks great. No preprocessing, borders or anything. I just downloaded the jpg and loaded it into Cura.
I found out about this a fews weeks ago on Reddit - 3D printing. Highly recommend joining this subreddit to find out interesting bits 'n bobs. Haven't used this feature yet, but definitely will be using it in the future!
Try using MS Word to type your sign [eg; Signs for vegetable beds] select all and insert 'word art', then resize to the size you wish to use, when you have done this take a rectangular area screen dump of the sign and save to .JPG to your preferred safe place.
Heard about it, but didn’t have any faith in its application for my prints since i work with higher dimensional precision that’s needed with vector drawings or .obj / .stl files. It does sound interesting for logos and casting if all you have to work with is an image file.

What. How come the video score is 89/53? Did you get spam downvoted or what? Oh well. Cool info mate, I'll definitely check it out once I get my printer early next year. You could do some really cool mood lamps with that.
so you could.. if you wanted.. take a cube, or any model, create the text panel, overlap it with the model so just the text was poking out, and put text onto something else all in cura... MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

That is a brilliant idea! I would have had to use fusion 360 to do the same.
oh maaaaaaaaaaaaaan, this is great and solves my "how the fuck do i get a seal in this weird shape and size" issue im having on this project!
OMG you solved an issue ive been having and ive just picked up a fresh KG roll od TPE and TPU so I shall experiment :)

Yeah I always forget about drag and drop.

Wait for tonight's video too! 👍😉 thanks for the positive comments!

I've done this in the past. But in the last five years, this has gotten much better.
This is a game changer. Thanks!

Hehe, I'm on the sub already 👍
I randomly came across this once a while ago but never actually used it, now you got me thinking about it again.
Earned the subscription (again) with this.
I never knew. I’ll have to try this!
"That's a relief" lol
Definitely a tumbleweed moment there
Did not know this. I am shook.

This seems perfect for making challenge coins and novelty currency.
"Ahh, that's a relief" - LOL...what, just me?
Apparently so 😂 well at least someone got it.
Thanks for this video. I'm putting my poems It is amazing

I learned about it by accident when I dropped a picture on the cura icon. I thought about using it, but I don’t know what for yet.
Hahaha, that's a relief.
"that's a relief"
Hmmmmmm, I'll need to break out the cura download and see what I can do with this.
Spent last weekend doing lithophanes. This would have been much easier than the method I used. I'm guessing it might give a better result too.
It might, I guess it would be hard to compare objectively
"all supported types" lists all files with extensions that Cura recognizes it can import
"all files" simply lists all your files
I did it once accidentally but felt like I didn't have a use for it at the time.
I did not know that, printing a known soft drink logo as we speak to test it out
What's the worst that can happen!

I accidentally discovered it a while back when a thingiverse file had images but no .stl or other file types. I played with it a bit, but that's all.
Not tried this myself but you can use the Xbox kinect to take a 3D image picture
you know, I was looking at that just this morning, and yes, with some extra software, you can!
@@LostInTech3D I also I have 3D camera lol
@@LostInTech3D been struggling with curling any advise
I didn't know about this, I have used Photoshop, but 3D is no longer going to be supported in that program.
I have joined the discord new to this 😅

yeah it is bugged! it's 105/2 right now which is pretty normal.
@@LostInTech3D You're right! Now it shows 114/2. Haha good to know it was just a bug. Cheers!
