Great video! I have most of these patterns. I do use scraps for blankets too. Happy Knitting 🧶

I love using scraps for blankets! I think I have three 'scrappy' blankets on the go right now.

    Hi Tonia,
I just finished watching your TKGA 2023 Conference interview. You looked vibrant and the event was inspiring. It's fun to follow your channel and all the other TKGA Master Knitters on RUclips.

I'm glad you enjoyed the conference and the interview, Jane! There were so many good classes - I'm still watching all the classes I couldn't attend.

Thank you for this video. I'm about to start my first sock knit. But I have been watching everything I can before I start (probably because I'm a bit of a perfectionist). You've been very helpful with all your videos. I've even bought special yarn for the job. But I'm still a bit undecided about a pattern. I've taught myself the German twisted cast on, but I'll have to practise because the stitches are so tight. I don't think I can go up a needle size because it will probably defeat the purpose of doing this cast on in the first place. We'll see. 💜🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘

You could test going up a needle size just for the cast-on and then switch to another needle size for the sock itself.

@@NerdyKnitting Thanks so much for the advice! I thought it might make it a bit loose, but that's what I'll try next. And I don't think I'll knit a swatch (which is what I was going to do if I could just get past the casting on!). I'll just take your advice and jump in and knit the sock (it only makes sense - a sock itself being a small amount of knitting). Also, after 3 small attempts at trying the german twisted cast on (which is really fun), the yarn doesn't look much chop anymore. And I don't want to waste it because it cost me about $20 for the ball (Queensland Collection Perth - 80% superwash wool and 20% nylon). Thanks again. 💜🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘

Thanks for the video! I started making socks this year, and I'm starting to build up a few scraps. Another good pattern for scraps would be Stephen West's Rain or Shine socks.
