I have been on a sock-knitting bender for the past couple years trying out different heels and toes and methods to see what I like best and what fits me best. After deciding what I like to knit best, I normally just do my thing with the construction and take the stitch patterns from sock patterns that I like. You have put up many that I like in this video and I thank you for that. I, too, have a rather high instep and one pattern I love for that is the Hattu by Nicola Susen. It isn't free, but it's well worth purchasing. I've knit it several times and love the fit it gives me.
Sock knitting is such a wormhole - all the ways to adjust for a perfect fit! Thanks for the pattern recommendation!
Thanks for these free sock patterns. 🙏 My favorites are toe-up. I wish there
were more patterns for flexible DPNS.
I think once you know the techniques for using flexible DPNs most sock patterns could be worked with them.
Love the spiral socks. Had to create my own design for the toe up as everything I saw was top down. Love having different sizes. Need wool socks for bug out pack. Starting my second set today. THANK YOU!
I knitted the Zigzagular sock a couple years ago. I love the socks and it was a fun knit. Since the cabling is on the side there is a right and left sock, although you can wear them either way. So, it's not really a mindless kind of knit, but they are fun to knit and I loved watching the zigzags develop as the knitting progressed. I am going to try a couple of these other socks, too. Thanks.
I am knitting it right now-it's either my second or third go round. Love Hermoiner's Everyday Socks.
Thanks for the list! I'll have to try some of those.
I've knit no-heel socks before, and they're lots of fun. They're also great for kids with growing feet, since if you make the tubes long enough they'll adapt and last a lot longer than socks that require a fixed foot length.
What a great idea!
Thank you for the sock patterns.
There are some great suggestions here! I generally tend to just apply the pattern from the sock to my personal sock recipe at this point because I've knit so many socks I've worked out the right fit for me, but a lot of these patterns look like they have some varied techniques that will help people figure out what fits them best.
The Kiellinie socks by Susanne Reese are my favourite ribbed socks.
Thanks for this list ... and the little push at the beginning to just try it. I've been thinking about trying socks but humming and hawing and didn't know where to start. I have lots of sock yarn left from doing baby blankets for the grandbabies.
You can do it!
I have knitted the spiral sock several time for all my family members. They originated from the war were women knitted them for their men as they had to walk a lot and as they could put them on and twist and turn them every way they did not wear through so quickly. Also great as baby socks.
Thanks for sharing that tidbit of information!
Thank you for the time and effort . New to sock knitting and love these patterns🥰
Thank you! Super!
Thank you. I love knitting socks so great to find more patterns 😊
You are welcome!
This is great! My goal is to make every one of them this year for Christmas presents next year!! I have tons of sock yarn!
Mara Catherine Bryners patterns are no longer available anymore unfortunately! I did want to try the rose city roller one but I think I found a viable alternative but it’s paid
I just heard her patterns were no longer available. That's too bad!
I need to add that sock patterns found at the library are also free!
Thank you! Have you thought about a video on mittens, gloves, mitts etc. ?
It's on the list!
@@NerdyKnitting YAY!

I'm surprised Rye Socks by Tin Can Knits didn't make the list...
I’ve cast on the no-heel spiral before even finishing the video 😊 if this pattern works for me then it’ll be a great gifting pattern as I’m so worried about fitting when gifting
Wonderful! That one is on my to-knit list too!
The sweater on the mannequin is gorgeous where can I find a pattern?
It's my own design [ toniaknits.com/patterns/ ] the Chevron Illusion pattern - right now it's only available with a guild membership through TKGA.
I can’t find your patters on raverly 😊😊
All the links for the socks are in the video description box below the video.
