I am 81 years of age and now live alone but am not prepared to pay for a service no longer required. Why on earth should anybody be expected to buy a licence to watch any 'live' programmes when for example ITV and Freeview are financed by advertising? I certainly would not watch any BBC programmes because they would not be of any interest to me Any particular sports broadcasts I can join friends in a local sports club or pub and enjoy the atmosphere - so problem solved.

The answer is to sell your TV. And buy a computer monitor instead. And then connect that to a computer and then stream all of your TV from there. As long as you're not actually using a TV set that can receive a broadcast signal, then you are not legally required to pay for a TV license.
The BBC will end up costing billions for a viewership of 50,000 hardcore lefties. All mainstream TV will be gone by 2040 anyway. The question is how much can this government throw down the drain keeping that rubbish alive. The think it is still 1975.

When HD came out I was at my grandads house and I said "You should get a HD TV grandad, it's a much sharper and clearer picture" He pointed at the screen whilst the news presenter was on and said "I can barely stand the sight of her as it his, can you make it blurrier?" The funny thing was he was actually quite tech savvy, and when he did get a HD TV, he deliberately detuned all the HD channels because he really didn't want to see the news presenter in HD!

One fawning caller to the programme seemed to suggest that the 500,000 who stop paying the TV Licence fee each year are deceptively still watching TV. They are desperately trying to convince us how wonderful and indispensable the BBC is and cannot bring themselves to admit that TV is mainly rubbish these days and people that people genuinely don't want to watch and that's why they refuse to pay.
