  • If you're looking to save some money and buy Apple AirPods Max from a 3rd party that is NOT authorized by Apple, pay attention to this video. After over 1 year since the release of the December 2020 AirPods Max, we finally got presented with a counterfeit pair in our shop. The AirPods Max are a higher price point, so there is more incentive for scammers to attempt to make fake ones given the opportunity to cheat folks out of more money. We previously have seen fake AirPods and AirPods Pro in the shop, but this was the FIRST time we got presented with a fake AirPods Max set. In fact we got TWO pairs from two different customers in the same day ironically.
    In this video I'll share some of the tell-tale signs of fake AirPods Max that you can identify without even opening the packaging and just looking at the labels on the box. Then I'll show you some more signs just by looking at the headphones themselves inside the box. Last you certainly will find differences inside the headphones if you were to dismantle and take them apart, but for most of us we'll just be looking at the box and the headphones, so that's what I'll focus on in this video. Above all, I want to help you avoid getting scammed or ripped off by a fraudulent seller trying to take advantage of you by selling you fake AirPods Max.
    Here at Jay Brokers we have a ZERO tolerance policy for all forms of criminal and illegal activity including presenting counterfeit or fake merchandise for sale like these fake AirPods Max we got in the shop from a customer. In the USA selling fake AirPods can be punishable by fines and imprisonment. In most jurisdictions selling counterfeit AirPods is considered a felony.
    We hope this video is helpful in showing some of the latest and more sophisticated counterfeit AirPods so that you can AVOID getting RIPPED off or scammed by sellers that are passing them off as authentic. Don't be a victim of fake AirPods Max! If you've been scammed before, let us know in the comments what tipped you off...how did you find out that your AirPods were fake? Share in the comments...

    As of now two things to look for: 1-On the fakes there is a clear line/seam on the magnet flap when you look at the case. There's no such seam on the original. 2- Inside ear cups on the fakes there is no pin hole to remove the headband. Real ones have a pin hole. Of course these can get updated on the fakes at any moment...

      I got some fakes sold to me that had the little hole, so far the only things ive seen that they get consistently wrong are the flimsy buttons and volume knob and when you actually try them, the head tracking audio and the sound isolation dont actually work even though the music stops briefly to pretend that it does work.

    • @JayBrokers
      @JayBrokers  2 года назад

      Not necessarily...we've seen some really good fakes with the wrappping and the tab pull in tact. In the end they are fakes too. Check the box for typos such as "CaTifornia" or "china" (lowercase). Then, as you open them check the headphones are metal and not plastic. Anyway, certainly other things you can check too, but those seem to be the most common traits on the fakes.

      If it is "Sold by Amazon" (aka Sold and ships from Amazon) then you should be safe. It could be hit or miss with the 3rd party sellers on Amazon. Some of the fakes are very convincing, but I'd say you'll have better success on Amazon compared to facebook marketplace, offerup, etc.

      Probably authentic in that case, but I wouldn't say 100% safe. We've had some fake AirPods Pro in shop before that registered and showed up via Bluetooth as expected, but indeed were fake. I'd say let that be one factor among all the others that help point to whether they are real or fake. It's kinda complicated as the counterfeiters go to great lengths to fool us, so have to use multiple points and tests to determine whether real or fake.

      I like to add to this, today I encountered a scammer for Airpod Max's. Serial number checked out. Only way I was able to tell they were fake was the weight, build quality, and doing the clacking test which is tapping the 2 sides together. The box with serial number isn't enough, gotta try it out. This is kind of cheating, but I had real airpods max for couple weeks now, so I kind of know what the weight, feel, and coldest of the airpods feels like in my hand. Be careful is all I can say, if it's new and "Still wrapped", if you are a serious buyer, asked to unwrap it and try it out.
