I subscribed to your channel for the simple fact that when you are riding your bike I actually see wildlife like hogs and deer and foxy’s,And all other bicycle riding tours they don’t show stuff like that so yours is more realistic
We rode the course just this past weekend and loved it. Except when a loose german shepherd bit my foot. But ANYWAY... it was an amazing ride! I think you rode it backwards, though? Everything I've seen shows it going counterclockwise and you did it the other way. Will you be at the race?
Brett, I may have ridden an older version of the course, which did go clockwise. Uncertain about appearing at the race this year? Glad you enjoyed the ride, and a bit of a bummer about the loose mutley.
@@GravelCyclist Thanks for the reply! Here is the route we rode from 2019 and it was fantastic. Lots of differences from yours, and no closed section. Thanks for all you do and keep it up! connect.garmin.com/modern/course/68973089
I have heard from riders of past years that the sandy sections were terrible and see a comment below about this. Your video didn't make it seem like sand was much of an issue. Can you share your perspective on the sandy sections? Not sure if the course has changed any over past years...
I understand the 2021 courses may be skipping some of the sandy sections? Recent rain helped me cruise those sectors in the video, but having good skills is essential. For sandy / loose stuff, practice, staying loose, and a small gear helps. It's all about momentum, the moment you get bogged down, game over. Welcome back to Texas Two longhorn thumbs ☝ Are those cantilever brakes you're using wow 20,000 gravel cyclist no bull sh*t thumbs ☝and 100 gravel cyclist bobble heads to match
Jom, what is the bike that you are riding in this vid? I like to see you riding vintage on occasion. That’s not to say that the new bling isn’t fascinating but I’m sure that there are a lot of folks who would like to fix up older cx bikes. I have an XO2 with cantilever brakes and 35 gravel kings on it and it is very capable. Enjoying the videos always. Keep up the good work!
Welcome to East Texas
Looks a lot more green and lush than I would of imagined
East Texas gets much more rain than central or west Texas. And there's been excessive this year.
I'm diggin' the new intro music!
Thanks, was way overdue changing it up.
100 gravel cyclist bobble heads agree

Thanks Billie, I appreciate your comments.

Hi there, it is my personal Ritchey Breakaway Ti CX bike. The video description has a link all about the bike.
I can confirm that, that course in dry weather has the worst sand. It sucked and will never ride in that sand ever again
Any specific tire recommendations for this course ? I'll be riding in September
I had no problems riding 700c x 35mm Panaracer Gravelking SK's. An FYI, you can make anything work, do not overthink tyres. Good luck!
@@GravelCyclist thanks mate ! Ride on.
Jom casually rides and films a century to share new content with us. We don’t deserve you sir.
This is rural America these days.
A crying shame.

Time for a dog encounter compilation video 😀
I've already begun working on such a video :)
Where I ride there's lots of hills
Texans pronounce it "Palesteen."
Noted, thank you.
Everywhere I ride dogs
Ghost town.
Pronounced like palesteen
Thank you.
