    When I do wear gloves I like to put them on the back of my hands. Doesn't affect dexterity and blood vessels in back of hands carry heat to fingers better.

    Great video Jason . When I come out of the woods and my hand warmers are still really warm and I only used them a couple hours I put them in ziplocks and force the air out . They shut down and I can use them again that day or the next morning for a while before I have to open up new ones .

    You gave me more places to place my warmers. I used toe warmers exclusively last season and thru Ice fishing season due to the adhesiveness. They worked great! I place a toe warmer in a soft, insulated lunch box with my ice auger batteries and it worked great also. I hesitate to place the warmers directly on my batteries because the warmers do heat up to pretty high temps.

    I feed homeless cats here in Ontario, Canada and use these to keep their bowls warm. Sometimes they work, but most of the time they dont. but I trie. These days coming up we are going to be extremely cold and all I want is the cats to have the time to make it to their food before it freezes!

    I find putting the toe warmers on top of my toes instead of under works better. With them being air activated, under your toes, you can cut the air between the bottom of your foot, and the bottom of your boot. There is usually a small air pocket between the top of your toes, and the top side of the boot. The warmers get more air exposure on the top of the toes, and in my experience, work better.

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  4 года назад

      Thanks for sharing your experience. I might have to give that a try. Never put them on top before.

  • @YankeeWoodcraft

    Yaktrax are the best for boots. They don't rely on being exposed to air unlike the other brands so they continue to stay warm for hours. For my hands, I use the Zippo rechargeable handwarmer that's like a big bean inside of a waist pack in front of me or in the pouch of a hoodie.

  • @Kritter2020
    @Kritter2020 4 года назад +2

    I run a hand muff that has holders built in for these. Keeps my hands toasty and dont have to worry about gloves. The foot warmers have never worked for me, I'm not sure if they dont get enough air and stop working but I've resorted to slip on boot muffs.

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  4 года назад +2

      The slip on boot insulators are also fantastic as you already know. I have heard from others that sometimes the feet warmers dont get hot. It probably has to do with the boot type and like you said not getting enough air.

    Great tips, got one more for you. I use the 18-hour warmers. I taped them to the top of my foot using self-adhesive 1 inch tape, easy to remove. I throw the warmers ,still good, in my boots at the end of the day to dry my boots for the coming day. This is made a huge difference.

    I find that the tone warmers are more comfortable and work better when you put a cotton sock on, stick it to the top of your foot then put on a wool sock. Keeps the heat in and your not stepping on it.

    Jason, have you ever found a battery operated heater for cars or trucks (not propane) for either overnight or early morning sleep sessions prior to hunting. That would be a great podcast. I’ve searched all over and haven’t found any. Better than running the truck for hours. Peace!

    Be careful with the toe warmers and adhesives when sticking on to mid layers they do get hot and they can burn I know first hand from experience

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  4 года назад

      I think it all has to do with the amount of air flow the toe warmers get. I have never had a problem with them on a mid layer but I also wear a wind resistant jacket and wind resistant vest. Never had them get hot enough to burn me or even close. But I did once drop a toe warmer I was going to put on when in stand and when I got down I picked it up and it was ballooned out and pretty hot. So I bet if they get alot of air flow they probably go into hyper drive and really heat up.

  • @tatty_angel

    Can someone tell me how to turn them off? It says they can lasts for many hours, what If I don't need that much? How am I supposed to torn them off and throw it away?

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  3 года назад +1

      You can put them in a zip lock bag to seal off the air supply and this with turn them off and let you use them again later. They last about 5-8 hours total. They don't get hot enough to burn anything so if you want to throw thwm out at anytime you can. But the zip lock bag is best way to stop them and beagle to re use them.

      not sure. could be expired. But if i remeber correctly (been a while since I used any chemical warmers) the toe ones take longer to heat up do to lack of air flow.

      Throw it out. They are disposable. Or if you seal it in a zip lock bag usually it will turn odd and can be used again for a short time when you open the bag.

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  4 года назад +1

      I wear the titans about 3 to 4 times a year. They are my extreme cold weather boots. I wear them when temps are in the single digits or below. Never get cold with them. They are are great boot you can still climb sticks in and functional unlike some of the other extreme boots. But that said if you are walking a mile in them you are probably gonna get sweaty feet unless you take your thick socks off until you get to stand. I walk to my stand in regular cotton socks and then when I get there pull boot off and let foot air for a second and then put on thick sock. Everyone's chemical make up and circulation is different. My feet dont sweat alot. My buddy Joe on the other hand sweats like crazy. When he wears the titans he takes the liners out for any distance farther than 400 or 500 yards and puts them back in once hes up on stand.
      Hope that gives some ideas.
