You can extend the life of these if you're not going to be using them for the full 8 to 10 hours by putting the pair of warmers in a zip-lock sandwich bag, squeeze out the air, zip it closed.
I have gotten a week out of one pair since I go out for an hour in the morning to walk with my cat. Come in, put them in the bag for this evening's walk of about the same duration. So far, have gotten 6 days! I keep them in my jacket pockets, too much exposure to the air will cause them to die out earlier. Stay warm out there folks! I keep a healthy supply of these in my car's trunk.

These saved me many times during those long, wet, windy, and cold shifts standing outside all day. I put 2 in each pocket, and they last for about 6 hours. I rub them in my hands when I need them to get hotter. I have them everywhere in my car now.

Yes, toss some in go & get-home bags. Then, stash some more in the utility room. Over the last week, power failures have been common along the eastern seaboard, with snow from Florida to Canada. Especially useful for those who do not have fireplaces, kerosene/propane space heaters in winter grid down situations.
    Thanks for sharing.

These are extremely helpful up here in Minnesota. We've gotten colder than Antarctica at times (seriously), and these hand and foot warmers really are a life saver. They're also a really good addition to a first-aid kit if you end up dealing with frostbite or hypothermia. And for $5, you really can't go wrong with something like this.

I just thought of another great winter survival tool, Milwaukee has their heated hoodies/jackets that run off the same 12volt battery system their tools use. You take your 12volt battery, connect it to your power source adapter and then plug it into the jacket and tuck the battery away in the pocket. While this isn't anything new, the cool part is that Milwaukee redesigned their power source adapter to where you can recharge your battery from the adapter itself, so you can take your favorite solar recharging tool to recharge your battery for constant heat. Plus the batteries are compact enough that you could keep several fully charged in a bugout bag

My package said 140 degrees and you said 158 degrees on the hands, and I was thinking that's way too hot for bare skin to slip in gloves. I'm reading online that 120 degrees for 8 minutes will give you a second-degree burn. I just wanted to figure out how to safely use these and not get burned. I operate heavy machinery in the cold, and I have to constantly have my hands on the controls so pocket use doesn't work for me.

Nice idea for working out side or sitting on the deer stand all day. My wife stashes them everywhere. We had the -30 here and several days bellow zero the entire day. If you want a safe zone just stay here for the winter. Even the dumbest crook won't go out in this.

Great great warmth, even underwater in winter diving for urchins off coast of maine keeps my extremities warm. I do wear leather boots and they are really, really dry from the mortar , so even under water, do they work?

Also GOOD for your sleeping bag and in your car if stuck in the snow. Thank you for the video shared :)

I believe that these are the same things as the oxygen absorbers that are used for long-term food storage. They could serve a dual purpose.

I use these for hunting, if they start to cool down I just reshake them and they warm up again. Thanks Don

On the small hand warmers:.....If you mess with them to much they will start to have some of the activating chemicals come out of the seam. I now put some tape over the seam to make sure I do not end up with a pocket full of the activating chemicals. What I mean by messing with them is that one has a tendency to squeeze the packets when they are in your pocket or hand muff.

Wow! Some of those warmers plus some Thermacare stick-on neck or wrap around back warmers and you're set to be warm all over!

Avid runner and mountain biker ALL year. Use the toe-warmers in mittens facing fingers.
Use one hand -warmer in a sock in front of my junk. Works to 0*f . Swear by them.

I keep them in my gear and B.O.B. but they are also in all of my medical kits to aid in helping treat shock all year around. I also use them to keep my camera and other electronic gear going in cold winter weather. Thanks again Sooch. graet info.
