2023 was Ateezes year of finally starting to get some good rapping and getting to show of. So happy for that. And bobby just being bobby. Also loving Xikers raps and so excitedfor what more they will show in the future.

@@arstan8092 Nearly all of their raps have been technically impressive and fairly well written since debut. Carkpop knows this too, which is why he placed them as A tier rappers before 2023 began. They’re not my favourite rappers and I agree that 2023 took them to new heights, but the idea that their raps weren’t technically impressive until 2023 just seems incorrect. Their raps might not have been as ambitious before. I’ll give you that.

It's been from what I have seen a case of they are very consistently good rape, but it's not really before now they have started to show more great raps. He has always rated them pretty high. It is just that this year is their best year for raps by quite a long shot which is nice to see because they obv deserve the praise. .

You’re telling me the raps from the Treasure and even Fever eras just weren’t impressive from a technical standpoint? The raps might not have been mind-blowing but they were consistently solid in terms of flow, delivery, lyrics, speed, etc. Each EP/album before 2023 has had at least a few well done raps from both Hongjoong and Mingi. But I do agree that they have improved and are continuing to improve. No argument there.
I'm forever a KQ girl so I'm incredibly of proud of my boys in Ateez and xikers. That being said, I am SO HAPPY that Giuk made it onto this list. Onewe is never really talked about anywhere and they deserve so much more recognition and praise than they get. Giuk killed it with his solo debut this year and I'm glad that someone is talking about it
I don't listen to Xikers too regularly but every time I do I'm absolutely blown away by Yechan... He's so young too imagine what he will be capable of in a few years
Finally, some One Pact appreciation, it's been hard to find. More people need to listen to Moment, basically a self produced mini album (Tag produced it, basically), Rush In 2 U even the MV is self-made. Also, Diawings need sooooo much more appreciation, they have ACTUAL lyrics (not saying the others don't, but listen to them, and you'll understand what I mean).
Dude the SKZ rapline is getting better everyday i swear, plus Jeongseob, kid's pure talent. Also i was wondering if you've ever done or considered doing a video on Chanmina. I know she isn't kpop, but I'd love to know her fastest raps and best flows, and you seem to be the best channel to do it. I personally love her songs like My Name and Dahlia. If you don't want to, that's fine, but I thought I'd introduce her rapping to you if you'd never heard of her anyway.
So glad YT recommended this video to me. I almost skipped after the "honorable mention" rap (too American style rap for my taste), but everything else was on point. As a STAY with strong Ateez love, you caught my faves. But also expanded my interest. Definitely some groups I need to checkout. So thanks. I know its not quite as impressive as the ones on this list, but one of the standouts of this year for me was Lola's verse from Truth or Dare by Pixy! Initially I didn't think that much of it, but it hit really well and your breakdown of it made me understand why!

I was actually trying to cover Crazy Form and FOR ME the speed is NOT the problem… it’s the great flow and rap style… he ATE that ! Hongjoong’s part is SO iconic !
As someone who is nowhere near an expert on rap and its nuances, and to whom most rap lines sound kind of the same, it’s meaningful when a rap part stands out to me, and I’m affected by it. Koong was one of my top 3 songs of the year, mostly based on the rap line, it just hits so good every listen. Hongjoong’s raps were also excellent the past few cbs. Another that I really enjoyed that was not on this list was J.Seph’s rap in Been That Boy. His parts were good on that entire album, but that one was outstanding. BM said in an interview that they used J.Seph’s guide track for the song. It was so good the first time he did it, he only recorded it once.
if you check the pinned comment you can see the list from the 1st half of the year, Been that Boy came in 2nd, J.Seph has really upped his game over the last year, its great seeing people actually notice kard for once.

I really think, as far as rappers go, KQ Entertainment really has the best line-up in the industry. They have Hongjoong and Mingi, for crying out loud, and even Ateez's less recognized rappers like Seonghwa and Yeosang always come to slay. I haven't listened to Xikers much, but after watching this video, I definitely believe they're the best 5th gen rappers.

A song with one of my favorite raps in it is 'but sometimes' by boynextdoor. I love how they put so much style and emotion into their songs their and Jaehyuns rap in that song just has so much style and is so cool. That song just has so much texture and I love it :)

Nah, Onewe are pretty veteran at this point. The debuted under the name "Onewe" in 2019 as the brother group to Oneus. They're under Rainbow Bridge (Mamamoo, Purple Kiss labal) and are a K-band kpop group. Giuk, the rapper here, is the Bassist and lead writer of the band and their music~~

Love the Onepact appreciation, Tag´s rap in hot stuff is such an underrated rap and the group as a whole is underrated. It only makes it more impressive that Tag produced the beat AND is the only person on the song with writing credits. Dude is a genius
Love this video. I was wondering if in the next CKRA you would add the category "most improved kpop rapper". Imho it would be great to highlight who improved the most. Ngl I love skz's music (imho in 2023 they released their best album to date) and rap so I'm not complaining, but I wish this year would be skz rappers' year, especially Changbin's and Jisung's.

One of my complaints to my spouse who got me into kpop was that rap in mainstream kpop (not counting lk specifically just K rap and hiphop groups) rap felt like it kinda fell to the side, but YEAH ATEEZ and Stray Kids debuted back in 2018 and I felt that shift begin brining it to the front in music kinda slide across the genre and I LOVE IT it just got so much better in 2023, thanks for this list!! Yechan is one of my favorite members of newer groups, he reminds me of Do Han-she’s vocals who is also a fave of mine. Gonna add more songs to playlists courtesy of this video thank youuuu 🥰
Thing is though, Gen 3 actually had a bit better rappers overall. We got BTS, iKon, Winner, BlockB, Monsta X, NCT 127 etc. For GGs we've got Moonbyul, Yeeun, Yezi, Mimi etc. But Gen 4 is still great obv, it gave us the best female rapper no doubt (Soyeon), the only group with two rappers on Car Kpop's Top 10 Best Kpop rappers (Stray Kids, which is also arguably the best rapline in a kpop group ever), plus a bunch of other great rappers such as Ateez and P1Harmony, among many others. Despite this, I do agree though that rap seems to be taken more seriously nowadays.
Have you checked out TAG's “사회생활” ? He writes songs, produces, directs on recordings, and I'm really looking forward to his future. I hope he will be like Soyeon BG ver.
you should for sure check out dreamcatcher's dami! a lot of her raps have a really nice flow (although i admit i know nothing about the technicalities of rap haha) mixed into the rock style that dreamcatcher is known for. her cover of hyo's dessert is really good, also dreamcatcher's cover of bigbang's bang bang bang showcases her abilities really well!
Idk in terms of vocals and dance but in rap kq has made gem after gem, id love a skz rap line and ateez or Xikers rap line collab (outside of shows like kingdom) because that would be FIRE

Ngl I love skz's music (imho in 2023 they released their best album to date) and rap so I'm not complaining, but I wish this year would be skz rappers' year, especially Changbin's and Jisung's.

skz is the first k-pop group i ever got into and it was mostly bc of their rap (also the reason i got into ateez later on)

One of my complaints to my spouse who got me into kpop was that rap in mainstream kpop (not counting lk specifically just K rap and hiphop groups) rap felt like it kinda fell to the side, but YEAH ATEEZ and Stray Kids debuted back in 2018 and I felt that shift begin brining it to the front in music kinda slide across the genre and I LOVE IT it just got so much better in 2023, thanks for this list!! Yechan is one of my favorite members of newer groups, he reminds me of Do Han-she’s vocals who is also a fave of mine.

Thing is though, Gen 3 actually had a bit better rappers overall. We got BTS, iKon, Winner, BlockB, Monsta X, NCT 127 etc. For GGs we've got Moonbyul, Yeeun, Yezi, Mimi etc. But Gen 4 is still great obv, it gave us the best female rapper no doubt (Soyeon), the only group with two rappers on Car Kpop's Top 10 Best Kpop rappers (Stray Kids, which is also arguably the best rapline in a kpop group ever), plus a bunch of other great rappers such as Ateez and P1Harmony, among many others.
Despite this, I do agree though that rap seems to be taken more seriously nowadays.
Yeah rap in gen 3 is by far the best no doubt, most complex verses were released and best rappers debuted in that gen @@Robalexe

you should for sure check out dreamcatcher's dami! a lot of her raps have a really nice flow (although i admit i know nothing about the technicalities of rap haha) mixed into the rock style that dreamcatcher is known for. her cover of hyo's dessert is really good, also dreamcatcher's cover of bigbang's bang bang bang showcases her abilities really well!
