T-44-100 has more armor, slightly better forward mobility (with a good rear mobility as well, especially for a Russian vehicle), significantly better turret rotation speed, a roof-mounted HMG and similarly performing APCBC to the Panther II's. The Panther II gets an optical rangefinder, night vision (none for the gunner however), a much higher penning APCR shell and about 2 seconds faster reload speed. I'd reckon it's fairly arguable that the Panther II stays at 6.7 because of the T-44-100's presence at 7.0 plus the 6.7 German lineup lacking an appropriate medium tank, being forced to use the (at that point) fairly outclassed Panther A, G or F. It has a spot in the game that needs filling!
the Panther II with a 88 is unrealistic regardless, they were two different proposals. a proper Panther II would just feature thicker armor and have a normal turret.

The gun still packs a punch and the armor can still bounce a load of stuff, angling the hull and partial hard cover are almost mandatory but that's for almost everyone due to the pre-ERA setting but loads of HEAT rounds everywhere
@danielglushko4908 You can't to the best of my knowledge. It got removed a few years ago and it hasn't came back along with the 105mm Tiger and Coelien aka twin 37mm Panther.

Yes. High tier, armor doesn't mean shit. 😅 it's mostly about learning not to shoot too early and give away your position if you're in an area surrounded by enemies, and if you do take a shot, make sure you either have the reload speed or are well hidden so that nobody shoots back at you xD
In the case of this video, at this tier. Germany is the most heavily armored. So you see him bounce a few shots as he's driving Panther 2 [might as well be a heavy wit that angled armor] and an actual heavy tank Tiger 2. Armor does matter in this case, around 5.3-7.0 if you're on Russian team for example, you'll have a hard time penetrating Germans from the front at this tier. Heavy armor quickly became obsolete and they traded it for utility and mobility. So after a point, most things can kill one another so long as you know WHERE to shoot the enemy.
I absolutely love 6.7 but man you get up br 8 matches to every 1 6.7 game. If you get downtiered, it's because someone on America used a 300% booster and Russia is on the team to assure that guy dies 3 times with no point caps or assists.

Long 88 best gun in game until APFSDS. It has high velocity, good HE filler and it has great pen, all that on tanks with great armor
