My go to 1st soup would be old fashion beefy beef soup cooked in the oven either the trinity and when it’s almost done. I add some of the broth with a half cup of flour to make a delicious gray and the make some CORNBREAD ❤. You are a 💎 Mrs. Denise. May god bless you ALWAYS 😊
Sounds great! I’m already thinking about a vegetable beef soup…kind of like I had from the Campbell’s can when I was a girl. I think I’ve got some beef in the freezer. I don’t buy it often because of the expense.
Whenever you can..would please add ingredients and measurements in the description. Please and Thank you 🙏🏽 I found your channel a few days ago and subscribed immediately. I love the simplicity and affordability of your recipes. The BEST PART for me is your teaching me how to cook. Myself and co-worker watched you today at work. She’s a mother with family of 7. Your much appreciated here in Denver Colorado ❤
Hi Denise, I love watching you in the kitchen. The vertical is ok but I think I like the regular screen better. It’s probably because that’s what I’m used to. You make me desire to make my own chicken broth. I don’t have the fresh ingredients though. Thank you for all you do for people like providing info on where to go to get food in the community.🙏🏽
Hi Hummingbird, thank you for your input. I’m learning this vertical format and where is best camera placement, it’s a struggle, They want us to try at least three so I will but here’s the thing. I may learn that cooking should not be one of the three. I;ll try it again but use a burner on the counter so it’s easier for you to see. I look forward to your input as I trial vertical livestreaming.
Sharon, thank you. I recognized the limitations as soon as I got started. I'll figure this out and do better the next time. I appreciate that you stayed to watch and found value. Next time, I'll try something simpler and more narrowly focused.
Thanks for coming. I must admit I enjoy cooking live but I’ll have to figure out how to make this work. The vertical format was a challenge. What did you think about it?
I always made chicken soup for my family. My mom always made chicken and dumplins, not dumplings... it is pronounced with the hillbilly, Lebanon Missouri accent pronounced as dumplins.😅 I'm not ashamed of it at all.
I'm a soup gal. Already have a couple in my freezer for colder weather. I lke the wide camera better. You dont have to keep turning the camera when you move around the kitchen.
Is this Laura? But yes…I think I prefer a wider view, too. They are encouraging us to try this but I think I have to figure out how to make it work. Maybe cooking on a burner right in front of the camera? We will see. I have to learn best practices for this format.
Hey Ms Denise🤗 I’ve been catching a few of your videos and enjoying them as usual ❤️ I prefer the old way of filming bc the screen is wider and we can see you better 🤗
Patience! I have been missing you. Where have you been? And I'm glad to see you. I agree. I prefer the horizontal format best. I can control the camera and the whole scene better. I'll see how I can use this vertical format but make sure it works for the viewers.
I'm so glad to see you make your chicken soup. I really try to perfect recipes...things can use a good tweeking at times. Thr family loves an Italian sausage tortellini soup I make. I like the copy of the Olive Garden chicken gnocchi soup. But, I also enjoy black bean soup and a homemade tomato soup recipe I got out of the original South Beach diet book....I smiled when you made your cornbread...I grew up mainly in Ohio, and always added sugar to cornbread. Now, a Georgia transplant, it's referred to as "Yankee cornbread." Southerners do not add suger. Have you ever made Brunswick stew? Learned about that when I moved here. Great hearty dish.
I've heard that about sugar in the cornbread isn't Southern; however, my Mississippi delta grandmother always added a little sugar to hers and so do I. 😊
I don't know about Brunswick stew. I don't think I've ever made that. As for Yankee cornbread, I don't know about that either. I'm from Indiana and so is my mom. One grandmother was from Michigan and the other from Arkansas. I don't know how I learned to put sugar in cornbread. It just is. I didn't know you could make it without sugar. Hahaha.
I can't tell you if it's southern or not, not being southern myself. That's just how I make it. Who makes cornbread without sugar? It's got to taste like something is missing. Hahaha! And you know, so much of today's generation make Jiffy cornbread. And I love that!
Grand Rising Mrs. Denise, it's a joy watching you cook, reminds me of my mother and grandmother. The vertical angle is wonderful but prefer horizontal. I've taken your advice on making homemade chicken noodle soup for my family tomorrow. Thank you.
Hope you enjoy well…I think I prefer the horizontal format. The vertical seems a bit limiting but maybe I just need to practice more and choose a better angle. With video…no problem but live is a challenge.
Sinigang (Filipino sour soup) is my favorite soup and meal. I cook it once a week all year round and it is a consistent want for my birthdays. Lee doesn't like it but our son Daniel loves it. It is a love or hate dish.
@@homemakingwithdenise Maybe, since everything is to your desired preference on how sour it is and the tenderness of the ingredients. Mom sometimes does a very light sour but the rest of us prefer it more sour and some like it a little hotter. The hot version adds chili powder to the regular one.
Oh bless you and your timing…I made extra chicken tonite for soup I just needed a recipe. Thanx! Waiting for cool /cold to settle so I can make white chicken chili with cream cheese … so good, especially with the corn I froze from the local farmers market…so so sweet and summer yummy….
Real Good Slow Cooker Chicken Chili 1 can black beans, drained 1 can corn, undrained 1 can rotel 1 pckg. Ranch Dressing mix 1 tsp. Cumin 1 Tbsp. Chili powder 1 tsp. Minced onion 2 8 oz. Pkg. cream cheese 2 frozen chicken breasts (I don’t prefer shredded chicken, so I use chopped up rotisserie chicken) 1-2 cups chicken broth Instructions: Drain and rinse black beans Put chicken breast in bottom of slow cooker Add beans, corn, seasonings, mix together. Place cream cheese on top of mixture. Cook low for 6 hours. After all is cooked, shred the chicken breast and mix it all up really good. Enjoy, friends!
My comfort soup is an Armenian recipe called keshkeg or herriseh. It's a dish made with wheat berries and chicken, boiled together and mashed up. It looks like oatmeal, but it is tasty. It's an ethnic favorite. As for the vertical format, it's ok. But I think we like the regular format just fine.
I don't know if I can do two cameras live. I don't have the technology for that. I'll come up with something more vertical...like on Instagram or a Short. I will sort this out.
I make chicken dumpling soup with German drop dumplings and boil my own chicken, my cats adore the skin. My German grandparents always said the healing part of chicken broth comes from the skin oils. I don't know how true that is though. I got tired of Frost bitten meat/veggies so I emptied my entire chest freezer and regular freezer and vacuum sealed everything, then I did all my dry goods in the pantry, I used almost 200 8× 12 vacuum bags. I was afraid of pantry moths because I heard you talking about them once.
You were busy if you did all that. Pantry moths are a real thing. That's why I wash my shelves with bay oil and put bay leaves in there. I also put most of my bagged things like rice and beans in glass jars or I vacuum seal them. We have got to be proactive.
Yes! Thank you for not over salting or using too much hot seasonings in the soup. I use very little salt in anything I cook. I'll have salt and pepper on the table. I can't eat spicy foods. It's amazing to me when people spice a dish so much that it is inedible to others. My mother was making goulash when I was visiting. I was so excited because I hadn't had it in so long. One bite and my mouth was on fire! I couldn't believe it! I asked when she started putting chili peppers in her goulash. She said that my brothers really like it that way. Lesson learned for me. Watch while she's cooking, lol. As far as the format, I prefer the landscape. It would be nice to see the pot while you're cooking. Minor suggestions, your content is great! Take care, Linda 🦋
No worries. I was asked to try the new format but I don’t think cooking will work. At least not for me.
