Today, We work on my 1998 2nd Gen Dodge Ram 1500 , we install a set of LED bulbs in the speedometer

LEDs have a polarity, if a bulb isn't lighting it up, take it out and turn it 180°. This is totally normal.
I mentioned I switched them around and still didn’t have any luck, I’ve had multiple sets of LEDs. I think I just got a bad batch.
@Hunterrnorris pretty common to get bad ones. I think 30% of the ones I bought were bad out of the box. There cheap enough it's not really a big deal.

Incandescent bulbs are voltage driven. The LEDs are current driven, meaning a proper dimmer uses a PWM circuit instead of a potentiometer.

I was thinking of doing the same thing to my Ram. It is strange that the lower center of the cluster is more dim than the rest.
Yea, I even tried another bulb and flipped it around, but still the same result
@@HunterrnorrisIt does work, you just have to change the correct lights. I did the same thing on my 2nd gen and it looks great and isn’t dim in weird areas
Mine doesn't have that issue with the one bulbs but not the factory cluster for the truck it's in . stepper motor failure and that led to a botched solder pin terminal repair that burned through the printed circuit
You need to take the ones that are not on in the bottom half and turn them they aren't in correctly
How do you plug the Wires back into the Instrument Cluster? Mine are very short. Do the wires stay on the Housing wall?

Not 100% sure. I do know thats two different types of dashes tho, so it might have fitment issues
Nope different dash and i believe the plug is pinned differently and i don't think it is even the same plug?!
Do you have a link on the bulbs you bought?
I tried looking, I can’t seem to find them now. But theirs plenty that are similar. Many guys run the Auxito ones and have had luck. I think I might have a different year
What were the bulbs you bought the second time?

I put leds in mine and they flash for a moment every time I hit the brakes with the headlights off.
Now Ill def not do this in my 2nd gen!!
