    Stuttering is one of the main causes of my depression. I’m terrified to talk at all even to my family because I don’t like to hear the way I talk. I wish it would just go away.

    reading books has almost cured mine. I disliked reading but now I love it, it has raised my intelligence & almost cured me. start by reading 5 pages silently inside your head but say the words inside your head as if your speaking normal (don't read fast, just fluent). then read 2 pages out loud, go slow if you have to. turn on a loud fan go to your room whatever. no worries less stuttering so you should do OK reading 2 out loud. then go back to 5 pages silently then 2 and repeat. I read a book a week and have found a new hobby. it has changed my life. praying to Jesus has helped as well through all the times I had to present, or even just order food in the drive in or anything, you know what I mean.. what do you have to lose? good luck and God bless

    • @kentalimojanid8603
      @kentalimojanid8603 7 лет назад +22

      that's what i thinking. when you practice ur mouth try to speak out loud.. when i'm in ROTC we always speak loud after 2 months my stutter was gone and i speak fluently. but after 6 months i had so many problems in school and then my stuttering starts -.-. and it's gotten worse :(.. but i never give up to myself... life is hard :(

    • @TitusKingdom

      kent alimojanid that's part of the reason I haven't went into military I have always wondered that but interesting you think it helped. Start to read books. Find something you are interested in and regularly read. I'm up to 2 hours a day. Not all at once but yea it significantly helps I can't stress this enough. Meditate also helps. Work on clearing your mind. Start small, 5 minutes a day. I hated it at first. Now I can do it so well, most of my anxiety is gone. You can just accept your predicament or you can do something about it to fix, or at the very least, alleviate, the problem. That's my philosophy

    • @ArishTheLilStar
      @ArishTheLilStar 7 лет назад +4

      Hi Joe, your way of practicing seems interesting and I hope to start it soon. I want to know how long have you been practicing this? 2 hrs a day is too much for someone who is new. I think, if I get benefit out of it than I may have to continue this practice for whole life! Do you also think so. Your comment will greatly appreciated.. Thanks

    • @TitusKingdom
      @TitusKingdom 7 лет назад +4

      Amit Das, it didn't take as long as you would think. I've been reading for a few years but it only took maybe a few months to get it up to two hours. Not all at once either and obviously there are days (and phases) where I can't get 2 hours in but an hour is good too but not as good ofcourse. Idk it works for me. Just pick books that actually interest you. Actually comprehend what you're reading. Clearly say the words when you read out loud a few pages. Practice breathing properly as if you're reading infront of a group. Stick with it most importantly. It works for me, but at the very least, it can help you and help many others. Meditating helps too with clearing anxiety and stopping the over thinking (both of which lead to stuttering.. At least for me) let me know if you have other questions

    As a 29 year old stutterer, I think stutter is more of a psychological issue. Let me tell you some proven tricks from my exp to get rid of the stutter/stammer:
    1. Accept yourself the way you are. Accept that you stutter/stammer and it's normal because it's none of your fault.
    2. Start ignoring people. Ignore what others think. It doesn't matter.
    3. Stop thinking about the words you can't say. Believe me, if you force yourself on certain words, it gets worse. I couldn't say even my own name which starts with "U"
    4. Be confident that your words don't define you. Your work defines you.
    5. Mostly important, the faster you forget that you stutter, the faster you will get it away. Convince yourself that you don't stutter untill it's gone and you don't have to worry about it.

      Excellent view. There is a science to get rid of stuttering. I can show you how to talk without any delay in speech when you are ready.. Coach Davoud at your service. www.nlpsuccesscoaches.com If it is genetic why people start stuttering in different ages. Even if it is, you could change our genetic blueprint according to Dr. Bruce Lipton professor of molecular biology. Also if parents of the smoker the statistic shows more likely the children will see that behavior and will start and get I habit of smoking. So if one of the parents were stutter then the kids see it and could learn it by imitating the parents who are role models of the kind. I have helped many to get rid of their issue with the scientific methods of understanding (genetic or not you can do without the speech delay.). When you are ready, I will be at your service. Now, seeing it first hand im very interested in better understanding the underlying cause because it seems like a fixable problem to me. I have knowledge and experience studying many many substances that alter brain function. May I ask you a few questions?
      1.) What pills have you used to help your stuttering? Or at least, which ones did you research?
      2.) If you use nicotine do symptoms improve or worsen? (Nicotine can be obtained using the transdermal patches or gum. Smoking/vaping is not necessary to test this)
      3.) Does coffee or tea make things worse or better?
      4.) Is the stuttering better/worse in the mornings directly after sleep?
      5.) Are symptoms worse when sleep deprived?

    When I see videos of others having a worst stutter than me, it's heartbreaking man. I can't even imagine what they feel like, stuttering can be so depressing, frustrating and stressful even suicidal , friends or family may tease you for it, they don't mean it but it saddens me a lot and I show it, I'm 28 and had stuttered since childhood, Man I wish there was cure for it, I get so stressed out with myself and I begin to get neck and shoulder pains, it really sucks man, and I'm even more embarrassed when I talk to new ppl and I begin to stutter, sometimes taking deep breaths and talking at a slower pace does help, I do get anxiety from it, wish I talked at a regular pace and normal 😕

    I’m only writing you this because a year ago someone did the same to me and I’ve improved tremendously. If you want to combat stuttering please read “How to Stop Stuttering & Love Speaking” by Lee G Lovett. I attended speech therapy for almost a year and never felt improvement in my speech, but after reading that book, I found improvement after two months! I just want all who suffer to find this book because it’s really a God send. If someone like me, who had very low self esteem and thought my stutter could never be fixed, could defeat stuttering than so can you and anybody else. I wish nothing, but the best.

It’s so frustrating because it comes and goes... All I can say to people who have this problem is to read out loud in the mornings and give clear thought of your words before you speak... But most of all don’t let it punk you down... Shit sucks but it’s just something you have to work on... Be confident in all areas in your life and you will be able to handle it.

But it's exactly the opposite for me now. I appreciate it. For me it's a gift,....it shaped my personality , my mindset and continues to do so. It had put me on my personal development journey that i am now on . I am thankful for this. Of course sometimes it gets hard, but in a long run it is worth it. So people of the internet hehe, try to appreciate it, because it is representing the most authentic you. I wonder if underdevelopment, or damage to specific
    parts of the brain attribute to stuttering. Thanks for the vid, and showing people that even though someone stutters, it has absolutely nothing to do with how smart or “normal” they are ❤️

    As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I have worked with PWS. I think if you can get to the cause of your stutter, you can get to the cure. I have found the cause of 100% of my clients. Stuttering is caused by a traumatic event between the ages of 2-7. Any thing from a dog barking in a child's face, to a child seeing someone get shot! This is the spectrum that I have worked with. A lot of people can't remember what caused their stutter. But the subconcious remembers everything. So with Hypnotherapy it is easy to get to the traumatic event. Now that you understand what caused the stutter, now you can let it go from your mind and body. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your time.

    I stuttered really bad as a kid, I was told to take a deep breath before a sentence or a phrase, that helped me a lot , later I found out when I speak a foreign language with native speakers of that language, I do not stutter as much as I did with my native language, and then it completely (almost) went away , I still kinda have a slightly off lip and jaw movements sometimes, but nobody can tell I stutter ( unless they spend hours and hours talking with me)
    So, if you stutter, keep pushing yourself, choose to speak publicly, read aloud and repeat a phrase with a deep breath, nonstop, multiple times everyday, till you get it, and try learning a new language - May be its the nature's way of guiding you in to the the right environment where you can speak fluently without speech blocks.
    I know how hard n tough it is to have speech impairments, and wish you all the best in getting rid of them, Oh, I almost forgot, if you somehow overcome the speech blocks, YOU WILL DEFINITELY SOUND BETTER THAN MOST OF THE SPEAKERS WHO DIDN'T HAVE THESE SPEECH BLOCKS. Mark my words on that!!!

    To all the people like “ I get bullied cause of my stutter” “ people mock me” the same as happened to me but what you have to do is get over it. It’s in the past and now focus on how to get rid of your stutter here are some tips
    1. Try repeating what your gonna say in your head a couple of times before saying it
    2. Everyone says this but try talking slow and fully thinking your sentences in your head
    3. It is hard but you can do it
    4. If it makes u feel more confident, studies show that people with stutters are actually smarter then most people
    Goodluck you can do it.

    Someone said stuttering is shit and I totally agree with them. I've been stuttering since I was 9 and am 43 years old now. As a qualified engineer expected to make presentations time and again, the stuttering really freaks me out and disturbs my flow almost all the time. I've been very lucky to have colleagues and friends that do their best to extract meaning from my unclear speech - it hurts deeply especially since I once had a dream of becoming a radio presenter.
    Now, my two daughters appear to be stuttering: my observation is that they do so whenever they spend time with me - coz each time they go on vacation with their mother they come back with almost no stutter at all. I'm convinced that their stuttering is a direct outcome of them trying to speak like their father .

    I realized that increasing self-esteem alleviates stuttering. There was a time when I was very motivated, I wasn't nervous or anxious about speaking in front of people. However, whenever my self-esteem or confidence drops even a little, I become speechless. It still is. It's just that people are more vulnerable to stuttering than the general population due to genetic factors, but stuttering is not a lifelong disability that cannot be cured.

If it's in genes it probably can't be cured, but if it was a psychological condition it could be potentially treated as it lives in the brain. probably they are idiots , how can you speak in 100% accurate way when you are alone ? if genes are causing us the problem then we shouldn't be able to talk at all. Real problem is we started with small fumbling , then due to anxiety and social bullying it become worst , and we started ignoring people and soon we got that fear in our mind developed that we can;t speak at all, so soon our mind developed the situations where we can't speak , whenever you are in that situation your mind sends your body a signal to not speak . No matter how hard you try you fail again and again. Now coming to the solution , we can get rid of it with the help of meditation , I have a 100% free course which will help you 100% please message me if you want that . mail is peterthewebdeveloper@gmail.com, one more thing am not selling anything , am a stammerer like you are . Zinat, spot on comment cutting through the nonsense and bullshit. Dysfluent speech (the starting point) is physical and starts in the brain, the step from "c/c/c/c/c/can I..." to blocking and stretching your sounds is all psychological. Researchers need to distinguish the two but they don't. I love transactional analysis and psychodynamic theory to explain why people change from being 4 years old and having some dysfluent speech to being 5 and really struggling, blocking, stretching, all that stuff with real struggle. It's down to parents and society making children believe they can't talk or that saying "c/c/c/c/c/c/c..." is bad/wrong/failure that changes a dysfluent speaker into a stuttering or person who stutters. Take care.

The one tool that this most helpful is using a Brittish accent. Why do you feel less than them? You have fears and worries? So does everyone else. You are not different. You are equal in every way. If we speak consciously ,we never stammer , but when we go subconscious mind like fear,anger, anxiety we do stammer , so 1)create a new speech pattern 2)go gratitude meditation 3)do affirmation like positive words(I'm the great stage speaker, I can do anything, I'm a achiever, no one is a great stage speaker except me) 4) do imagination practice (wherever you want to speak ,do it in imagination) consistently do it for 3 months , u will get a tremendous result .These are the things which I learnt from my stammering class
