I have Nintendo Switch and Ps Vita fat and i gotta say i use more the Vita then Nintendo Switch, I don't know why I think vita is better... I love my switch too.
My Vita broke today. Yesterday I downloaded a PSP game File Save to my Vita. Played it for a couple hours of fun, woke up this next morning and now the batter will not charge up. I got my Vita from Gamestop used almost a year ago. Man... 2019 just a fcked up year.
Some say that Vita is for handheld consoles what Dreamcast was for home consoles. You know, underrated-wise. Since I wasn't into gaming back when Dreamcast came, I don't know for real. But, what do you say? Is that true?
@@septarap3901 Not really. The DreamCast's main issue was that it was in the right place at the wrong time since the PS2 released about a year later and basically killed it. The Vita on the other hand was at the right place at the right time. The 3DS was bombing pretty hard initially, and Sony could've easily knocked off Nintendo in the handheld department. But their greed of proprietary memory cards and lack of 1st party support after the first year was what killed the Vita.
@@eddiew.4650 Oh! Now I get the real picture. . It really sucks for Vita, though. So much potential, which would have eventually made Sony rich and popular in handheld market. But now they are rich, but even they don't trust themselves to make another handheld console (even though they can!).
I still use the Vita for gaming on the go. Games like MGS: Peace Walker and the HD collection, Neptunia, Senran Kagura and the exclusives like Uncharted Golden abyss and Gravity rush are still in my library. I rarely use it for remote play, i used it a couple of times for Just cause 3, the input delay was either noticeable or unbearable depending on the speed. I also used remote play for Gravity Rush 2 for obvious reasons.
@Sam Gaming true about sales. For first 2 years, Vita sold like hot cakes. But when gamers realized that more money will be spent, especially for the basics like memory cards, they backed out. I don't blame gamers for that though. I Blame Sony for getting greedy! . Great vid as always YSN! I love my Vita and use it mostly for Persona, neptunia (till the pc ports) and the quirky rpgs and visual novels. Great system! I love it so much
PlayerPerPerson Personal Gaming Awesome! I’m thinking about buying the PS5 actually. I really love the PS4 Pro, and beings PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 according to Mark Cerny, I’m thinking it would be a good idea to upgrade to PS5 eventually. 😌
Back in the day, parents didn't have $$, or didn't want to buy phones for their kids. The camera, and calendar would have been useful for many. 480P is not bad so close up. That's DVD quality. Idk if SONY upscales RUclips to its native resolution. I still like this little guy. PSP is my favorite of the two however.
Sold all my 6 Nintendo Switch cartridges (after dumping those ROMs) for PS Vita and installed HENkaku Enso CFW straight away just for homebrew, free games, emulators and even Adrenaline to play PSP ISO's. :)
I got a Vita 2000 about a month ago, and it's phenomenal. It can play 4 out of the 6 main-series Disgaeas, all of the spinoffs, as well as La Pucelle Tactics and Phantom Brave. Persona is almost completely represented, except for P3 FES (though P3 Portable is playable) and P5. Neptunia practically lived on Vita, with only the newest and/or most visually advanced entries unavailable. And that's before the user mods the system! People who crap on the Vita don't know what they're talking about, and anybody who's waiting for a Switch Mini might want to look into the Vita's library if they don't already have one.
The PS Vita Slim is way better than the original PS Vita because there is a controller grip add-on from Hori that you can get for it because the controller grip add-on prevents you from touching the Vita Slim's rear touch pad. Plus, no matter what model of the Vita you own, you can play PSP games on your Vita via digital download. For example, you can play PSP fighting games such as the PSP version of Tekken 6, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, The King of Fighters Collection and vice versa.
Also the slim has a standard vs. proprietary battery charger. A big advantage over time and the screen quality is quite good even if it's not an OLED. A gem of a system as a PSP upgrade too.
Just bought a switch a month ago, but haven't played it at all, because of my vita. The fact I can play stardew valley, psx, basically all the older Nintendo consoles, PSP, psvita, remote play, etc. On the go is just a dream. I can't get enough of resident evil 3 and super Mario world, Uncharted is amazing on vita, I can go on all day. Edit: freaking pokemon too!!!
@@AromaKitsune I hacked it originally for Nintendo games, then I discovered psx and PSP and just fell in love even more. Also I've been playing stardew valley everyday on it
I used mine for like a year or two after I initially bought the slim borderlands 2 edition. Played all the games I had and my selection was small so I stopped caring for it... 4 years later I picked it up and hacked it and upgraded it to 128GB via SD2VITA and have literally any game I wanted but could not get then and haven’t put it down. If anyone wants to play COD or any multiplayer games... add me!! theripper0135
The Vita is amazing as long as you have Henkaku installed, you can run game backups, homebrew, emulators, speed up games, use a normal mini SD card instead of the expensive Vita memory cards, etc.
The Vita had so much potential. It's just such a shame they used those expensive proprietary memory cards and never dropped the price to compete with the 3DS. That killed their sales and scared away game developers so the library mostly sucked.

I use my Vita for Neptunia mainly, since my computer can't run anything at a decent frame rate, and I doubt I would be able to run any of them, except Neptunia Shooter probably...
@@nonenothingnull well, I'll see if one of them can run. I was basing the can/can't run part off of a program that you put in a games requirements and it compares it to your computer's specs.
My Vita is a hacked slim model and has a fresh battery in it. I travel a lot and it always goes with me. I use it for everything from Vita games to PSP and PSone.. sometimes I'll dive in to Retroarch for some CPS2 arcade games or NES and GBA. There is some terrific homebrew stuff, like ports of Quake, Half-Life and DOOM, all of which play great with the overclock plugins enabled. Also exclusive to hacked Vitas is the ability to pair up a PS4 controller for more comfortable gaming on most games. This is great for long play sessions on planes..I keep a padded business card holder in my satchel to prop the system on, and a slim carrying case for my controller...certain touch and motion gestures can be emulated by the ps4 controller's touchpad, covering most official titles. This really kicks all kinds of butt. Sidenote: I love the reactions that the Vita can still elicit from people. I'll get questions from passerbys or fellow travelers about it.. the most common comment I tend to get is usually about the controls, and how they wish their phone had them for gaming. All in all, I don't know what I do without my Vita when I travel. A smartphone is great for a lot of things, but if you're a gamer, a Vita is a must.. especially a hacked one.
Been tossing around the idea of getting a Vita for a long time. Skipped getting one when it was new because I had just got a PSP 3000. Still played my PS2 at the time even to this day with games I missed, got a PS3 two years ago and have had a PS4 for 3 years. This is to say all the games I would get for Vita for the most part I have played unknowingly since they would release on PS3, PS4 or even PC. I like that it is a really versatile handheld and in my opinion is kinda more interesting than even a N3DSXL, but someone in my position who isn't a handheld only gamer, who plays these very specific games in most cases already played them, has always been hard to commit. Sometimes I wish Sony would take another shot at the handheld market.
My hacked vita is still on top for emulation, below that will be my gcw zero and psp go for smaller portability and then my gameboy micro with roms on catridge for ultimate small portability
The potential of this system was never realized. Very very underrated. Where Sony went wrong, as far as I'm concerned, was their lack of support for the system and also not only the price of the sd cards [which were astronomical] as well as forcing customers to use their cards ONLY!
The PS Vita gets a lot better when It's modded! Pretty sure that you can mod the camera to make it better. Also pretty sure you need a mod to get that extra cheap storage to function.
i bought PS TV recently while having a 7 year old Vita, just to play Disgaea 4. and on Nov 1 Disgaea 4 will be re-re-released, that i bought on Switch. (5-th time already). man this game is awesome.
Much like the Wii U, the Vita has been useless since pretty much all its library is available on other systems. I've been looking for it for about 4 years to play some niche games and emulate 16 bits systems on the go, but finally decided against it because those needs where already covered and I can't justify the price it goes for while it wouldn't had much to my gaming life. So I patiently wait for the thing to be emulated on PC for the 2-3 exclusives I wanna play, or I might jump if I find it for less than 50$/€, which is unlikely.
Can't really say I'm excited for any more Sony systems though...since they've basically taken a mostly anti Japanese game stance when it comes to censoring stuff like crazy and demanding developers go through ridiculous hoops just to sell on their platform ever since HQ mvoed from Japan to California (for example they now demand an English pitch for a game even for games they don't have plans to localize...or at least localize anytime close to the Japanese development date, then there's of course the censoring of stuff that's already fairly tame to begin with....I'll be blunt part of me hopes the Japanese devs abandon Sony and PS for Nintendo and PC, maybe even Xbox if Sony doesn't stop this BS...or at the least make all games multiplatform or PS and PC with the PC/other platforms uncensored...may finally just buy/build a gaming PC and give up consoles in the end (even though I prefer physical copies of games over digital)).
Ifrit 19 lol exactly, google stadia is coming out so in reality console will die as google stadia will dominate since you'll be able to on play on a browser. Not only that it will be pretty cheap with a subscription of about 60$ a year which is very good for the library of games it will have.
@@tsukuyomi8106 The vita released before the ps4 was announced and was in there eyes a failure, whereas there home console business is booming. They aren't going back to hand helds, unless maybe a hand held device that the game is streamed to.
I have a original Vita model and a PSTV and love them both! Having both is like owning a PlayStation Switch where I can relax on the couch at home with the PSTV or take my games on the go with the Vita.
Just a little tip to everyone who wants to get a Vita: don't get the 2000 "Slim" version, there is a very common issue that is the left analog stick mechanism will sort of break and it'll be stuck on the 'up' direction, making games that require precision input basically unplayable and only replacing it will fix it, yes it may have a slightly bigger battery life, 1GB of internal memory and be lighter than the first model, but trust me it's not worth it. Edit: Also, no OLED screen :/
hack it and you will able to play any: vita games, ps1 games, psp games, and a ton of emulators. vita is one of the best portable consoles when you hack it and open up all the opportunities.
The vita is that one system I keep telling myself I use because when it comes to it the games and general theme of the console is perfect imo. But then again I havent looked at the thing in like 5 months, but Imma keep living in denial I LOVE THE VITA!
I have my Vita and PSTV modded on Firmware 3.65 Enzo. I have sd2vita adepter v6.0 and Sandisk, 400GB micro sd card. I don’t use Sony memory card, it sucks that it only has 64GB and the price is too much. I have ALL Neptunia games on the Vita and I already got platinum trophies on ALL of them.
Only if Sony didn't choose to use their own memcards that would probably make the console "live" longer, why? because Devs wouldn't be so limited when it came to porting or just making games for Vita, I played Borderlands 2 port for PS Vita and I must say that they were really close to make it work properly but unfortunately they had to choose to make that port into a maximum 3,8GB game so that most of the people might be able to play it but it brought a lot of problems with it, like low quality sounds or even the lack of it, but still imo PS Vita is a great console it didn't deserve what it got and I'm still proud of being a user of this console, and yeah because of memcards are too expensive I chose to hack it so that I can use higher capacity memcards for a lot less money
Games can be bigger than that if required final fantasy x/x-2 is 6.6gb on vita but ya we needed better 3rd party support like GTA which was psp highest seller
I traded a laptop for a vita pch-2001 with hard case plus four games like four years ago and I don't use it that much but I still love it. That neptunia game looks cool.
I adore the Vita! Not that that's surprising for a guy with "Otaku Gamer" in his tag xD Of course, I also love being able to play PSone games anywhere, and they look awesome on the Vita's screen. A neat, underrated thing I love is that it has a ton of Vanillaware titles! Odin Sphere, Dragon's Crown and the best version of Muramasa
YEEEEES this apart from the switch being more powerful and being home to marios and zeldas, it is basically the vita 2, the joy cons are a gimmick which ninty have taken out of the lite which is basically a vita... so the chance of a proper vita 2 from sony is high imo and considering ninty hasnt cracked online yet is where i see the next vita/psp taking the portable crown.... the switch is just getting the indies and third parties that the vita couldnt handle otherwise its the logical step even the psvita tv is the swtich its just sony had 2 seperate ideas which ninty combined... there is definitely room for a sony portable... sonys ip stands out from nintys ip and they can survive in this space... mobile is extremely casual... ninty with a 300 hybrid handheld proves that there is also a hardcore portable market
I’m a university student and the vita is handy for me. I would usually have an hour or an hour and a half between classes and that’s when I use my vita to kill some time. I mainly play rpg games. I don’t think I’ve ever tried watching RUclips Twitter etc. on it! It doesn’t make sense since I have a phone, games for vita & phone for social media apps looolz
Mimi Carol No unfortunately. I haven’t seen any classmates. But I am a business student, and I took a Japanese class just for fun and I noticed more students in the fine arts department have them! Still no one in that class but I’ll see people with their headphones plugged enjoying themselves while waiting for class. I’ve seen more students with the switch, but 9/10 times I’d see them sitting on the floor next to a charger xD
I still use my vita from time to time. My favorite function is gaming and especially anime. The series I play the most is the Neptunia games and Mary Skelter with a little of uncharted. I did by it back then with a bundle deal since it was worth it to me at the time. I just wish it had more it was to bad that things didn't get better for it with more of title games and functionality.
I'll sell mine to you for $200! Nah just kidding, I ended up getting mine for $30 almost brand new 3 years ago and it's definitely such an underrated little piece of hardware. Try Mercari, it's like eBay but with cheaper prices.
I might game primarily on PC but the Vita is still the best portable system I've owned. Recently I've been using it to play Valkyria Chronicles 2 (PSP emulated under Adrenaline) and it's fantastic. I'll probably get a Switch someday, but I just love that the form factor of the Vita remains small enough to actually fit in a pocket!
I still own the 1st blue used & 2nd generation brand new. I purchased many games when they were doing super sale on psn. now it seems like they don't do any sales but having 13 games in a sale, I'm just satisfied.
Most cell phones weren’t really better at the time. The colors alone were better on the vita. The screen actually performs quite well for 1/4 HD. Movies look pretty good. Remote play also looks really good. It’s the little screen. Handles hi def games quite well.
Just bought Uncharted Golden Abyss for the Vita to complete my Uncharted collection. Didn't come with the case though so il have to buy a replacement case online.
I still have my Vita, but I want to find a Vita TV for cheap. You can mod it where USB storage is the main storage method, and I can use a controller with full functionality. Mods on the Vita don't allow for L2 and R2 to be designated for touchpad and no L3/R3 support for bottom touchpad.

Love my vita but recently it's been having an issue with just not connecting with my wifi....gotta find a fix for this cause i'd rather not buy a new one if i dont' have to (prefer the feel of the older original version more than the newer ones), thankfully I bought most of the games i cared about but had to delete a few to make some room so i'd still need to connect just to re-download them. The vita was definitely the better of the last gen handhelds technically...just Sony fucked up by refusing to drop the memory card prices (the only real BS part of the system....frigging nearly 40 bucks for a mere 16 Gig memory card, about 60 for 32, 80 for 64 and over 100 for the 128 gig (may be off a little but should be roughly around those prices). Favorite games on the system were Tales of Hearts R, the Vanillaware beat em up jrpgs, the Trails games, Steins Gate and Stein's Gate 0, and many others. Hell even the remote play is even decent most of the time (granted can't use it reliably right now for some of my games because my PS4 has the frigging disc eject issue so not only is that screwing me over when i try to remote play some games it's also screwing me when playing on TV too lol...i'm getting so tempted to just do some methods that make the eject button unusable that should (according to some people who did it) fix the issue permanently).
i have a vita since Christmas 2013 but sadly its quite bet up with scratches, worn out analogs and lots of dings on the sides, I was 9 so I had no idea that the vita would be a failure outside of japan.
As someone who didn't have a Playstation console for most of his life and likes playing on handhelds the vita is a good device to experience some classic games as there are quite a few ports of popular game series and it's backwards compatible with psx/psp. it also has weeb games I guess
I have Netflix on my Vita, it works pretty well. Design wise could of been better, but it works good on the vita. You can also use the touch screen as well.
Neh still happy with my PSP... (that now needs a powerbank to power it poor battery packs lul) so no needs a upgrade Though the thought of getting a used one and jailbreak it is a little tempting. From my understanding a jailbreak vita can play umd 'backups' so I could keep playing all my psp titles
I still use my Vita alot these days, more than the Switch. In fact, I'm about to go to Disney World in a few days and I got a second 64GB memory card and filled it with games. It's going to be a great trip... I also got the first two seasons of Family Guy on UMD for PSP so that'll be great too I guess...
I remember good times with my overseas friends playing minecraft with this godly device Shoutout to keeshan and yasukeuchiha and scorpion, you were good bros
I remember buying my ps vita for around 150 bucks.. then sometime later i decided to hack it in order to overclock it. It is really a great handheld device.
I still use my vita to this day idc if the switch is a thing i use them both and get alot outta both systems tho remote play is usually a hit or miss but i still love the vita unconditionally
I don't have a Vita but I hope to get one soon! There's a massive library of RPGs I've never touched before, and PSP hardware seems to be deteriorating so I'd rather play the games on the Vita.
Yeah......Sony tried to take some anti-piracy measures there with proprietary mem cards, but ended up making them pricey af. I mean, a 64gb card is a little over half the price of console itself!! That sucks..
@@MasonMillerKingofCaturday of course, you can. I currently have a 128gb sd card inserted in my sd2vita. But, that's not the point. Since Sony wanted to digitise their gaming market back then, if original mem cards were priced less, then more gamers would have bought the system and more games (at least non-triple AAA titles) would have made their way to the console. . P.S: PS Vita taught us a very important lesson in modern gaming. A console is not just made by its rich games library, but also by the space to store all those games.
It's strange how you you said that there's nothing weird about Livetweet, even though basically every newer features in recent versions of Twitter were not present on Livetweet. It still runs smoothly though. And I honestly prefer the Slim over the original (I only have the OG Vita BTW), its battery life is better and no longer uses a stupid proprietary charging port (the worst part is that its USB cable only works on PC and its adaptor, if I remember well). Also I don't mind that the Slim's screen is now IPS LCD, IPS LCD screens are not that bad and ages better than OLED (thankfully OLED screens drastically improved over the years).
I found some great obscure PS3-era JRPGs re-released, and being conveniently enjoyed, not to mention the good exclusives like Freedom Wars introducing me to the God Eater series. Still enjoying it, and will for a long time yet.
The major flaw of the Vita is, that it is lacking a video out port. I mean even the PSP had one!! I know there is the PSVitaTV.. but meh . It would be super cool to play it like the switch on the go AND on my TV
@@onenaghi Hacking is not the problem .. but I don't want to have a PC connected to the TV :P you can stream from ps3->Vita but not vita->PS3 .... How stupid is that?

I bought in 2020 a PS Vita 2000 as a PSP replacement, it was already hacked with an 8GB memory card oh and PS All-stars thing, most likely the owner forgot about it, but at the end I used a SD2VITA with a 32GB micro SD and fill it with PSP games, welp I still have my DOAs and Senran Kaguras in it because I like my alluring ninjas.

Nintendo Switch has the watch from here on out. Thank you for your service, Vita! 🥺
PlayerPerPerson Personal Gaming Thanks for taking the time to comment. 😊
PlayerPerPerson Personal Gaming Cool! Thanks again, bud. 😊

1 word: henkaku
If you hack it,trust me you'll get ten times more use out of it
True, I hacked it so I can play PSP games via Adrenaline.

B Gill Micro sd Not Mini ;)
@@michaelheintzer4261 sure
The Vita had so much potential. It's just such a shame they used those expensive proprietary memory cards and never dropped the price to compete with the 3DS. That killed their sales and scared away game developers so the library mostly sucked.

You CAN actually connect any bluetooth headphone to the ps4. You just need a seperate bluetooth dongle.
@@salsaestonia yeah but I'm talking about the ps4 itself
Any headphones on vita 🤔
Their Sony noise cancelling headset doesn’t even work on their PS4, but I can use a headset the quarter of the price...
Dee Lopez I need to get my hands on a gameboy micro before they become extinct
It's worth mentioning that the Vita is still the best home console gaming experience that fits comfortably in a pocket.
Persona addict so... Yea ps vita addict by extension. Easiest &, cheaper way to access the older titles for me anyways.

The potential of this system was never realized. Very very underrated. Where Sony went wrong, as far as I'm concerned, was their lack of support for the system and also not only the price of the sd cards [which were astronomical] as well as forcing customers to use their cards ONLY!
How to use Vita in 2019: Henkaku and RetroArch. The end.
The PS Vita gets a lot better when It's modded!
Pretty sure that you can mod the camera to make it better.

and on Nov 1 Disgaea 4 will be re-re-released, that i bought on Switch. (5-th time already).
man this game is awesome.
Reviews a gaming console by spending half the video talking about streaming videos, why though?
Much like the Wii U, the Vita has been useless since pretty much all its library is available on other systems. I've been looking for it for about 4 years to play some niche games and emulate 16 bits systems on the go, but finally decided against it because those needs where already covered and I can't justify the price it goes for while it wouldn't had much to my gaming life. So I patiently wait for the thing to be emulated on PC for the 2-3 exclusives I wanna play, or I might jump if I find it for less than 50$/€, which is unlikely.
I bought one new 2 years ago and I got some great editions of games like Personal Gold etc and now I just buy whatever I find cheap on it.
I got my vita for my birthday this year and...
I LOVE MY VITA TO DEATH!
Please make another handheld Sony
SageModeLuis they might with the ps5 since the vita was made with the ps4
Nah
@@tsukuyomi8106 The vita released before the ps4 was announced and was in there eyes a failure, whereas there home console business is booming. They aren't going back to hand helds, unless maybe a hand held device that the game is streamed to.

I still play PSP 2019
I'm still using PsVita 2000, until this current year. It still have fun. Because I just love gaming consoles have more tough body. :D
I got a ps vita last week & got to say i love it rn playing lots of persona 4 golden
I haven't touched my Vita in a while. But after watching this I feel like playing with it XD
Netflix and RUclips still both work pretty well for me. Still have a youtube app
I adore the Vita! Not that that's surprising for a guy with "Otaku Gamer" in his tag xD
Of course, I also love being able to play PSone games anywhere, and they look awesome on the Vita's screen.
Netflix still works on vita ... october 2019
Is a vita worth it in 2k19 and why cuz i want one
I’m a university student and the vita is handy for me. I would usually have an hour or an hour and a half between classes and that’s when I use my vita to kill some time. I mainly play rpg games.

I would have got the Vita if the memory was not so expensive.
Yeah......Sony tried to take some anti-piracy measures there with proprietary mem cards, but ended up making them pricey af. I mean, a 64gb card is a little over half the price of console itself!! That sucks..
You can hack it and use an adapter called sd2vita, it seems hard at first but is actually very easy
