Contentment is never in the next season if we can’t cultivate it in the present one. You don’t have to like your situation to regonize that Christ is always with you. He sees you, he knows you, he is with you and he loves you

This is exactly how God brought me out of depression. It started with the pivot. He had to change my mind set, and I had to catch the negative thoughts before they turned into more negative thoughts then that would lead me down the path of depression and anxiety. Once God revealed the negative patterns to me, I was able to take control over my thoughts. I used to think I had no control over my depressing thoughts because I was such in a deep state of depression. Now I’m free! I still have to remind myself to replace negative thoughts with truth. And learning how to be content in the situation, not with the situation. That really lit a light bulb in me. I’m going to try my best ^_^

Very timely for me. Always grateful.
Complacency vs Contentment. Complacency is my default. I hide under it because I am afraid of being hurt. I don't believe that God wants nice things for me. I believe these things with my head, but not with my heart. People used to call me resilient, but I was hiding. I didn't feel hurt, didn't want to want because I was scared and had given up.
I really like what Wade said about the practise. I can stop wishing that I was born positive or optimistic or content and just practise it daily like a sport.

Well done Pastor Wade! I usually don't comment, but I felt God's presence from the moment Chasing Contentment started. I just finished watching Pastor Steven's Flip the Bag, and I want you to know that you're flippin'' the bag like nobody's business. In this season of my life God's been working on my contentment in all situations issues. Doctor's diagnosed my mom with dementia, and I've been taking care of her for the last 7 years alone; so, God's been workin' this contentment hard in my life, and it's true, as long as you keep your eyes on Jesus, every little thing will be alright. And although it's tough, I'm strong beyond my wildest dreams. I just keep figuring ... God must have something unbelievably important for me to do for Him to strengthen me the way He has all my life ... right from the very start. Sermon very well done, thank you, and all the praise ... honor & glory to our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ!

This is one of my favorite sermons. Thanks Pastor Wade for not letting your nervousness, deter your obedience.
As a mom and someone who has worked with kids, my heart broke hearing the statistics for Wade's daughter. So (if not done so already), I'm proposing a prayer chain for his little girl. I pray she would defy those statistics and become a symbol of what God can do when His lifeblood is flowing through her body. I know there is no limit to what He can do. And I pray when she lives on into her 50s, 60s, 70s, her life would serve as a testimony of just that. In Jesus name, Amen.

1) Practice the petition. Contentment means appealing to the Higher authority which is God
You can't have contentment w/o hope. Stop hiding from God and start running to Him
2)Practice the pivot. Even in the trials you can change your focus. Contentment isn't a feeling, its a focus
3)Practice the present: Be present in the moment, Contentment is not the next step, its the now

What an excellent, timely word. I never saw that scripture in that light. When I first heard the word Sunday morning, you said you had a word for someone. I know it was me. You were instrumental in me learning to pivot instead of sabotaging my life. I was able to pray, petition, and offer up thanksgiving for even the intense heart felt emotions knowing God is good and will use everything for good somehow. This message hit home for me. So many times I prepared myself for a no. I prayed for a yes but deep down, I prepared myself for a no so I wouldn't be disappointed which was a total waste of time. I always felt like I shouldn't tell God how bad I felt or how much anxiety I had over something because if I did, it meant I didn't have faith. Even though I knew God knows how we feel and what we think, I didn't feel I could pray and tell God that or else I wasn't showing faith and trust. No matter, I know God loves me and will never leave me. Even if I don't like my situation, I know that God will never leave me there in it. God is Good. He is with me.
