    It's another year and another build-off! This year, we're ditching a pair of strings and making the neck longer. That's right, it's BASS time!
    In this episode, I'm going through the specs and features of the build and telling you how to win this thing!

    I play guitar not bass, but I really want that bass! Excellent craftmanship!

    Absolutely beautiful and hearing you talk it through, everything just makes sense. Also, incredibly good demo. A lot of people have a woefully oversimplified perception of what it is an as instrument. Bravo!

    Could you go into more details about how to plan out the faceted carve on the neck?

    I can be very brief about this, Seán.
    That is one awesome short scale bass you built there! Great new high end / modern take on the first ever electric bass guitar.
    Actually, I'd consider making a facetted neck profile on a bass which I have in mind to build. But it was you who introduced this shape to me.
    Too bad the GreatGuitarGiveAway site is currently down here in the Netherlands, as I would love to have a chance on winning this instrument.

    Great to see it finished at last, it turned out awesome! I'm not a bassplayer, but this would be a reason to start, so I bought some tickets.

    Would make a great companion to the not-quite-fretless bass Ben built this summer. Classic 50's P, lightweight, faceted neck, and short scale? Tickets bought!

    Loved the entire build. Love the shape of the body (never touched a faceted neck but looks cool). I do not dig the color but that is totally subjective. Great sound. Do you know how much it weighs? How much for a build like this? Really like your stuff dude. Salutations from Portugal.

      Thanks for watching, I appreciate it! Do far the colour has been the most polarizing on this build for sure. It's not exactly what I wanted either, but I was happy with it. Always the problem with staining a guitar, you'll never please everyone, but I love green!
      I'm not sure how much it weighs, but I was light. If I remember correctly, the body was maybe 28mm thick? The faceted neck is very interesting too. A little weird in the hand, but you get used to it fast.
      Off the top of my head something like this would probably end up around 2000-2200 pounds or so.

    What you call the 'facetted neck" is still the intellectual property of Ola Strandberg of Strandberg Guitars. As you haven't got a licensing deal with him for this feature, he has every right to not only fine you but also to confiscate the guitar from whomsoever 'wins' it in your raffle.

    • @LukeShingoose
      @LukeShingoose Год назад +2

      That’s not how that works my dude lol and his patent is only for a specific design of this trapezoidal neck

    • @stuartbarker9373
      @stuartbarker9373 Год назад

      @@LukeShingoose A well-written patent is not specific to any design. Anyone can read Strandberg's patent to see how specific and how general its claims are. This neck by Sean is an obvious infringement of Strandberg's IP.

    • @LukeShingoose
      @LukeShingoose Год назад +3

      Yeah dude no. If someone copy’s a strandberg neck for a guitar they made in their basement doesn’t mean ola gets to break into their house and steal it because it is ‘rightfully his design’. Copyright only applies if you are making copies and selling them, which last time I checked, no one is selling the bass in the video here and also it’s prob no even breaking the patent, which is for a very specific shaped neck (you’re right, anyone can look it up, and I suggest you do that) lol!

    • @stuartbarker9373
      @stuartbarker9373 Год назад

      @@LukeShingoose That's correct but irrelevant here because Sean isn't working in some basement - he's a luthier working at Crimson Guitars. And he's not making it for himself - it's to be sold via a raffle.

    • @LukeShingoose
      @LukeShingoose Год назад +3

      It doesn’t matter if it was made in a basement or a factory, and it doesn’t matter who made it either. it doesn’t violate anything because it’s not being sold and it’s also not breaking the patent because it’s not the same profile as what the patent is for my dude. :)
