- Cheese had a rough start but has bounced back really well! Looking back, I should’ve definitely rescued a bearded dragon because they are one of the most neglected reptiles in the hobby. However, that wasn’t a viable option for me at the time. My next one will definitely be a rescue if I decide to get a second!
More Information Below
---------------
Always purchase dragons who are older than 3 months. If you buy them too young they’ll have a difficult time coping with stress and may possibly go off food for too long and it causes more issues than there should be.
Bearded dragons should also be kept together until 3 months old to develop basic hunting skills and sibling rivalry. Most dragons who are sold/separated too young also tend to have eating issues opposed to dragons who are kept together until 3 months old. Dragons are SOLITARY however and NEED to be separated after 3 months or it can develop into other issues like stress, dominance issues and sometimes even death depending on how severe attacks may be. It’s not a good idea to house adults together as they are naturally solitary animals.

I love how beardies turn from small happy babies to grumpy angry lizards

I guess just yours. Mine are both perfectly happy.

Cheese is SOOOO cute!! I just lost my beardie after 10 years of having him 💔 I feel completely lost and heartbroken right now but your video made me smile and reminisce of my baby’s younger days! Thanks for that😊
Sorry for your loss. It’s best to focus on the positives- I lost my rabbit awhile ago, it’s tough. I try to think about the fun things we did together though, that usually helps!
Holy crap ten years, that’s amazing life span
SlippingAway I’m very sorry. I had the same experience, but with only a few month old lizard 😞😭but at least I got a new beardie! ☺️
Plant based life thanks but I already know. We gave him it on his live crickets but he still wasn’t strong enough to last
Dear Little Ignatius you need to feed them dubia roaches, they are way better than crickets

This is exactly what i'm going through. I bought my dragon at PetSmart 6 weeks ago. He won't eat unless I hand feed him. Very weak. I keep upgrading the lighting and the heat and trying everything I can hoping that it will help. They couldn't tell me the age of the dragon at the store but looking at your video I realize how young he is. Anyhow, your video gave me hope that if I hang in there long enough I can get him big and healthy.
Can you give an update on his condition now?

My first beardie was from PetSmart I had her for a year and three months and she was very sick and wasn't doing good at all. I had to have her put to sleep back in April. I was so upset. I vowed never get another reptile from PetSmart or Petco. My new baby beardie is very happy and healthy. Just keep an eye on them there health can go down hill very fast.
My bearded dragon Dino, passed away the other day. She had Adenovirus, she was two and a half years old

Damn I’m sorry
I wish you my deepest condolences
I don't know who u are but I am crying
My dragon, Bruce, was 8 weeks old when I got him. The little dude was eating like a pig from day one. He loves attention and will tap on the glass closest to my bed until I get up and let him out. All beardies have different personalities I guess. He's 5 months old and 16 inches already.
_idekanymore mine is the same to
Mine grew 3 more inches after 1 year and a half
@Spooider Playz EBLX i know your comment is very old but is your fancy red? I have a fancy and it yellow brown but every time i look one up on google they are red? Will they turn red
Mine is just chill, she usually just sleeps then I pick her up and put her on my shoulder or on my hand and she just chills there.
Stimy Mcdongal i know this comment is over a year old but I want to inform you just incase you haven’t been, “fancy” is just an umbrella term for any bearded dragon outside the average one. They are considered morphs, my beardie is a citrus tiger and he is a yellowish orange, so unfortunately he will not turn red and may stay a little more to the yellow orange side for me.
My baby girl Phoenix is now about 6-7 months old. Was beardie sitting for a friend who went out of town and ended up being able to keep her when she was about maybe a month old; shewas the runt of the bunch at the store, my friend said. She was very small and grew slower than others, I knew nothing about bearded dragons until I educated myself on caretaking. I fell in love with her as soon as i had her. She’s healthy and happy but stubborn w greens lol. I didn’t know that she shouldn’t have been sold but I’m glad she ended up in my home. She’s very loved here ❤️
i always feel like beardies grow super slow for the first 3-5 months then hit so many growth spurts and you blink and theyre huge
my beardie is almost a year old and he just moved to a bigger tank today so he has more room to grow
Mine seems so much smaller than this one. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong. He or she isnt a fan of fruit and veggies which is weird.
I really hope so. I feel like my four month old (I suspect he's a male) isn't growing very fast though he is always gaining weight and gets longer. My last baby passed away after never growing so I'm a little paranoid watching Oliver. It's hard when they grow slower since you always see them you don't see much of a difference.
who else loves to watch these videos while your beardie lays on you
Looking back, I just wanted to say you’ve really been a great parent to her and she’s blessed for having you!
Mine just likes to cuddle and lay on my chest and sleep
Just likeme 👌
That probably means that the bearded dragon is cold.. they are not pets like cats and dogs
benjamin Johansen let them be happy
Vlad the inhaler I wouldn’t over doo on the calcium powder, and it’s good to have your beardie on a wide stretched diet so he’s getting everything he needs just like in the wild
I got hissed at, because he fell off of his branch.
Scaley ties I call them
It amazes me how small they are as babies. They grow faster than I thought too
My beardie, Trico, was from a reptile store in my area. He was about a month old. I didn't know any better but luckily he was eating and being the derp he was (and still is). 4 years old and vibing strong now.
Cant believe your dragon watches the worms/crickets for so long, the second mine sees a worm hes chasing and jumping for it
I got mine from PetSmart and he was even SMALLER than that . Looked like a hatchling I swARe . But Orangie is 9 months old now and super happy 😊
Watching this has made me want another dragon. Mine died last year. I miss him
Here my story I got my bread dargon 2weeks ago he 6months he stared bonding with me last week frist he was shy now he getting to that playful mode he isvery funny one day I took him out on a Sunday he did not run from me like he use to then I stared watching a movie with him and now I with my cousin can’t wait to see him tomorrow
I GOT MY BEARDIE ON THE SAME DATE BUT THIS YEAR! my baby was maybe 2-3 months when i got her, maybe on the younger side but has been doing pretty well regardless plus was one of the biggest and thriving babies of her bunch from the breeder we got her from 💞 so glad yours is doing better than those first months shes very beautiful!
Aww. I'm so proud of her! She's adorable.
That was adorable! Both the story and cheese:)
This is why I need a bearded dragon.
My bearded dragon was watching on my shoulder! I never want too loose her ❤️
Thanks, you inadvertently put me at ease over the sudden reduction in appetite of our 8 week old fella🍻
He/she is always saying cheese with that big smile!
Yours is so awesome this helped me get my bearded dragon
Good stuff. So happy for Cheese.
I love bearded dragons it broke my heart when my dragons died
I'm sorry for your losses
@@Pigzter thanks they died from tail rot and one suffered from MBD and then died from respiratory infection all thanks to Petsmart for all their lies about how much humidity in a tank and telling us to buy a cricket calcium pill when they eat it the calcium goes to the bearded dragon that’s why nowadays I go to pet supplies plus.
@@metallibasscovers oh crap.

Awesome video. Beautiful animal. Thank you
I see your beardie started out growing slow too.. same with my dragon got her from PetSmart I think. She was barely growing took her to the vet and found out she had parasites. She is slowly getting better and this video is so reassuring for me.
oh my god the name cheese is everything😭💕
So pretty!!!

Yessss I loved this as I just got my bearded dragon dawn
I got my beirdie when he was 2 months to 6 weeks old and hes fine . But u seem to take gud care of ur beardie . Keep up the gud work

I got my boy Penguin at 4 months! Its been such an adventure seeing him grow and seeing his attitude change lol
Just got a bearded dragon and his name is Tyrone
My cousin used to have a bearded dragon named cheese! ;3
What a little cutie!! I just bought my first beardie at the end of February. She's tiny now, but I'm so excited for her to get big. Her name is Helia!
That’s awesome! I’m sure Helia will grow super fast. Babies tend to get huge growth spurts around 3-5 months from what I’ve noticed. Mine doubled in size around that age!
My baby girl, Rhaegal- was adopted real young too before I had known. However, she never actually struggled with stress and appetite, shedding problems! I was lucky, getting such a sweet and laid back dragon :) It's sad that this isn't always the case.
CHEESE IS ADORABLE!!
I'm so happy Cheese is looking so well after an entire years + time!

By now you already have him or her I am assuming but it’s not recommended to get one that young but asking as you properly care for them you should be fine I got mine at one month old and I didn’t think that was bad but he is doing great now
Caden Hausman | yeah, i have him now :) he’s perfectly healthy and getting bigger and bigger each day ;)

we bought our lizard at like 7 weeks because we didnt know. She was tiny and grew up to be a runt but she never did have problems eating when she was young and was always attracted to us. She ate right in front of us and now shes big and healthy and we love her.
I bought mine in October and he was the size of my thumb now he is almost as big as my hand
Thanks I thought my beardie wasn’t growing but now realise that he is the right size
I got a beardie from petsmart that was way too young (also didn’t know at the time) and it unfortunately ended up passing away after about a month of refusing any good amount of food. We brought him to the vet multiple times with no improvement. I have a new one now named Picasso and I got him at 4 months at a better place and he’s very healthy and happy! Can’t wait for him to stop growing as crickets get expensive with the amount he eats! Definitely important to get beardies at a proper age! PS Cheese is such a cute name!
Sorry for your loss! Unfortunately, a lot of the reptiles in chain stores like Petsmart or Petco are kept poorly. I wish you the best of luck with Picasso! I ended up spending a fortune on feeder bugs too as I'm not in the US and insects are so expensive here.
Where did u get Picasso??
Just got my first beardie recently and like you, didn't know that you should get them a little older. She's almost 2 months now and seems to be doing well, but I cannot get her to eat her greens. I know if she had her siblings with her she probably would've learned by now. Going to keep trying until she gets it, but at the very least she eats insects like a champ.
It's nice to see a bearded dragon that is well-pampered and cared for :D wish it was more ubiquitous with reptile owners.
I have 1yr old baby girl.....love this video so much
Got mine from a pet store and most likely a month n a half old, first time owning one too! New to everything lol
I got 2 beardies, one is a Blue Hypo Trans. The other favors this beardie alot. I’m pretty sure neither of them could have been older than 2 weeks at the time I bought them, but they are doing great. Both very sociable & eating well. I do understand why people recommend only buying BDs that are a little older though 💯
My beardie named charmander is 4 in a half and still runs around happy! He's from pet smart too
my 4th grade teacher loved animals and she had them in class as class pets so she had a bearded dragon that was 2 feet long and it was a girl but she died because she wouldnt eat she was very old. and she was everyones favorite. she also had a tarantula, 2 turtles, 3 hamsters, 2 guinea pigs and then 1 cat that would just rome around while we r working. im in 9th grade now and looking back. that was probably the best year of my life
Such a liar
bruh.... all that for 5 likes?.... how pathetic
SO CUTE!!
Yo omg at 2;16 that is the most happy looking bearded dragon I have ever seen
Yes I got my beardy from petsmart a couple days ago. He does not have appetite at all however I’ve been misting his cage, and giving him water orally as well. I’ve tried worms, crickets , however I’m gonna get him a supplement that should bring his appetite up. I’ve been holding him though and he definitely likes it now then in the very beginning. He falls asleep in my hand and watches me all the time 😂❤️
I’m About to get one On Christmas IM SOOOOOO excited
Yayyyy!☺
It will be here in a few blinks. 🎅✨🦌

dont worry phrenn my dragon grew up like that too and he is SUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR ACTIVE
i got my lil baby when he was a single month old. he is a precious man and he’s turning 8 in just a few months
i just got mine, hes a month old too ;( any tips?
I had almost the exact same experience with my petsmart purchased beardie (Leonardo). He was so unhealthy for the first three months I had him, but with constant care and vet trips he rebounded completely. He is now a happy and healthy one year old bearded dragon. I couldn’t agree with you more though, I will not be purchasing any animals (especially reptiles) from petsmart ever again.
Andrew Bove that’s so lucky. I’m really happy for u 😊 my very first beardie (that I got when I was like... idk, 8?) was so cute! Because after many years of waiting for my parents to go finally agree to get one... the only memory I really had with him was when he crunched his crickets and was like a mini dog when he dug in the sand... I still look into his cage, on his favourite stop (on a fake log) where my new beardie now sits. He got dehydrated after only a few days of keeping him. Before that horrible day of his death, the last words I got to say was: Norbert, I love u. Just thinking back to that is heartbreaking. 😞😞😭😭😭😭 I miss him so much! If only I knew what a healthy beardie was ment to look like... fat, chubby, and tiny eyes. As my beardie had big bulgy eyes, he was very skinny and was extremely week that he could hardly eat sometimes. The vets just couldn’t do anything... I guess they’re not to blame. But when I grow up, ima be a vet to save many more beloved animals lives, mammals, rodents, birds, and of course... Reptiles, in memory of Norbert. 😔😣😭😭😭😢😢😥
Aww so cute
I have a petsmart beardie. He never lost his appetite. He is growing like a weed.
That’s good! Babies should be growing like weeds once they hit around the 2-3 month mark from what I’ve seen. Once they start growing, they grow really fast
I got my beardie when she was alittle less then a month old. With that fact it is kinda hard to feed her 3 times a day because of work I find it all worth it in the end.
I got mine from Petco and he is about 2 months old. But he’s a healthy, very active and friendly lizard
Awww Cheese 😍😍
They grow up so fast
I like how he is smiling on every pickture Almost
she is gorgeous!
I wouldn't say don't buy one under 3 months old. Just as long as they are 6-8 inches, they should be fine. I got mine at 6 inches, she reached 12 inches withing a couple months. 4 more months later, she's now 17.5 inches long and very healthy. Just depends on what they eat, environment, etc. Each dragon will grow differently so don't be alarmed, but yes some pet stores will sell them under 6 inches which I think is against the law. Great video! :)
It’s best to keep hatchlings together until they are 3 months old because it encourages them to hunt and eat (classic sibling rivalry). I’ve seen a lot of the times from people who buy young dragons at chain pet stores, the dragons usually tend to have a harder time eating vegetables because they either refuse it or they don’t know it is food. Babies when kept together will try to outcompete each other and will try to eat anything and everything!
Getting the larger ones is always better though as it shows the dragon is more dominant and you’ll usually run into the least problems with them as they’ll have an easier time transitioning to their new home and accepting new food.
Hi! I had my bearded dragon for about 9 months and he didn’t grow a lot. I was wondering if you have any tips on what to feed her, so she will grow.
i just bought a 4 month old bearded dragon and his/her name is mango
I hope my girl grows up, I got her from petsmart too and I'm feeding her via syringe right now since she won't react to anything else.
How's she doing now?
my beardie is about 2 months old and just a little over 7 inches. i've had him for almost 3 weeks now and it took about a week before he started eating regularly. for a few days he wouldn't eat anything at all. his appetite is pretty good now but i have to hand feed him his veggies to get him to eat them. he loves his worms and scratches at the glass when it's food time. he seems in good health but i still worry about him constantly that he's not going to grow fast enough if he was sold to me too young :(
Soooo cute!!! 😍😘🥰
I got one from pet smart and had it for not even a year! I realized he stopped eating and moving as much and thought I was doing something wrong. I took him to the vet and he wasn't to sure what was going on and said I was doing everything right. We started medication and been doing more soaking and going outside for more direct sunlight. After a month he wasn't improving and we did blood test and found out his uric acid levels were extremely high and had gout. The vet believes he was born with it but it took time to show and is very painful. I couldn't imagine the pain I gave him when trying to handle him ( vet had own experience with gout in the feet) and said it's the most painful thing ever. I ended up putting him down
That’s very unfortunate, I’m sorry for your loss!
Oh... Oh god... That is very unfortunate

I just got a hat long bearded dragon. He’s sooo small but cute. The breeder new me personally though.
i got mine march 27th!!! i am pretty sure its a boy, but its name is syrax!! the people from petsmart said that it was 0-3 months but for as small as he is i'd say maybe a mont or two months, he is starting to eat vegtables and he loves crickets but not a fan of worms, he is getting bigger, but ive noticed that this week he has been turning a dull color, but i am unsure why.

My husband rescued a clutch from someone about to drop them off at a pet smart and IT HAS BEEEN A JOURNEY. You are right...do not adopt little babies...especially without doing your research! It has been exhausting. But man do they make my heart explode. God bless.
I got mine at 2 months and he’s perfectly fine

i guess every beardie is different! 🤷🏼♀️
The pet store I got mine from didn’t even know their ages, they said that they were just hatchlings... I’m assuming that mines about 2-3 months old maybe even just a month old...
I just got a baby yesterday looks to be the same age as yours I got her from pet smart to. She seems to be doing fine tho was eating great yesterday when I brought her home.
My beardie is from petco. she’s 2 years old now and healthy. i feel lucky
You can get beardies under 3 months if they’re from a reputable breeder as they are introduced to greens and a variety of insects since the beginning of you get them from the big chain stores where they keep them on pellets and some veggies it’ll take more time and probably won’t grow full size I got my baby at 2 months from a breeder and he’s been doing amazing
looks like my Norboy! 2:58
p.s. he is the sweetest lizard i have ever met and if you meet him you'd probably agree with me
Any recommendations to help them eat better? Mine only enjoys eating romaine, ate a bit of a cricket and worm in the span of 2 days
