Beardies are the funniest animals just because sometimes their reactions are incredible, like when I'm tryna feed some kale and he just closes his eyes. Bruh. Watching them chase mealworms is hilarious also
I had a super old rescue berdie, who was fed on pellets, as in dried pellets, for his *whole* life. We genuinely didn’t know how he had survived that long, poor bugger. And he hated live insects and you had to pretty much spend time with him on the floor to get him to eat. Every. Single. Time. But bless him, he was lush. RIP Charlie 💕
We had a little mint garden and our beardie would get one mint leaf a week as a much loved treat. (less than a teaspoon a month they were small) and fresh dandelion greens pretty often too
Omg! I don't own a reptile and never will, but I love these videos. This one is my favorite. My daughter would only eat mac and cheese as a child. It drove us crazy wondering if she could be healthy on such a poor diet. Seeing these beardies close their eyes and turn their face away made me giggle! What picky little boogers they are! 🤗
Mine doesn't do that. Though he did sleep all day yesterday and today he was up running around. So I'm not sure. He is very odd. He will sometimes laze around for two to three days even if the temp is right in the tank. I would think he had a disease if he wouldn't start running around after that 3rd day of hiding in his tank.
@@ingavaickute8995 I was told brumation in captivity depends on the heat levels of the tank. My beardie doesn't brumate at all and I keep his tank the same temp all year. I was also told if they are going to brumate they will do it regardless of what you do
Inga Vaickutė well since they dont live outside, the rules of the wild dont apply. it depends on the heating/lighting etc not the season. theyre inside animals.
I never thought of doing this with our dragon. He’s super picky! I have tried all sorts of leafy greens, and he seems to like a mixture of Kale, Brussels sprouts, radicchio, and broccoli the best. He won’t touch any chards, dandelion greens, or collard greens.
Blueberries! Are the perfect treat. My little beardie will literally chase them around the floor to get them. 😂 Sidenote: seeing the one go after the entire bunch of Kale is such a mood. My beardie sees me coming with a bunch of kale to rip up and feed her, and she tries to get into the bag before I can tear some up.
My first beardie absolutely had a favorite food, dandelion flowers, if it was on his plate he was on it immediately. Another one violently hates strawberries, shook his head to get it out of his mouth and didn't touch the plate after for the rest of the day. Additional fact, if I walked into my room with watermelon, no matter if it was sliced or an end, my iguana would cross the room in seconds to get some. Like crawled up my leg and started trying to take bites out of it.
It could also be that some of them were full at the time when they "no-ed" a few of the foods. My beardies will go Pell Mel at fruits and veggies some days and not so much other days, and what they liked today, they may not be too fond of the next day. Banana, mango, papaya, strawberries and blueberries are usually go-to's that I mix one or two at a time with their salads (mixed greens, like mustard greens and dandelion greens), which I give them every other day, otherwise they'll just ignore them. I also just pretty much skip crickets now. They smell, they escape and the noise... arg, the noise! We've gone to mostly just superworms with dubias when hubby isn't looking and the green tomato worms as treats. I use a spray bottle to give them water. Every other day I slowly squeeze the trigger until it dribbles and they will lap it up until they're full.. or ignore me altogether. I went with this because leaving water in their homes is bad, one of mine got a lung infection early on, so I nixed the water bowls and went to syringes, but the plunger gets stuck and sometimes you'll end up squirting them in the face, which is funny to me, but they don't like it so much. So, I went to the spray bottle and it's worked great. They get a weekly soak in the tub to make sure their pheromone spots don't get clogged up and it keeps them clean-ish. They reach take turns being an hour to run around the house. They usually stick close to either one of us or the cats, who oddly seem rather protective of them. My beardie, Wary, sleeps on a felt covered heating pad that registers around 73-79°. He sleeps next to me in the basement because my night terrors don't seem to bother him, but they do bother my family so I'm down here. It's OK. Thanks for taking care of all those wonderful beardies and helping them get better and find new homes. Tell Stan to get some exercise, he needs to get some muscles! Exercise will help his bones, too.
Wow I see thinking some of those pieces were too big. Maybe mine will eat better if I give her bigger pieces. Lotta great ideas for feeding techniques too. Thanks so much
My beardie is very new to me (rescued) and was never fed anything but pellets and mealworms so I’m having a tough time getting him on salads, but we’re making slow progress lol
Butternut Squash is my dragons absolute favorite. It tastes better raw when it is not ripe yet. Pre ripe is like a carrot crunch but ripe is like an uncooked pumpkin- gross. Also, I'm surprised he doesn't know the taste of mango.
I love the beardie close eyes against an undesirable food stuff... but ripe mango is much nicer than un ripe. And green capsicum is un ripe; red, yellow and orange are ripe. And for leafy greens, book choy is popular with my beardies. But the best of all is blueberries...
@GoHerping my fellow likes dandeilion most which grows outside just, interesting to see how different their taste is and how uniform their nutrition suggestions, cool video thumbs up :)
I tried feeding my beardie a red pepper and he loved it 2 days later I try an orange pepper and he refuses it so I think colour must effect something as after I tried the orange I got more red pepper and he ate it perfectly fine
Hey, I have a question. We own a bearded dragon named Puff, and he really likes attention. I would be working on the computer and he’d be scratching the side of his enclosure trying to escape or asking for a treat/food. Here’s the thing... he never eats from the bowl and only when WE feed it to him. Is this normal?
If they grow with small seeds within, like tomatoes, or blueberries, etc. it’s considered a fruit! Although, squashes have seeds! So are they actually a fruit without searching?!! Curious!! 😁
I cannot ever get my beardie to eat any fruits or vegetables! He just refuses, and I've tried over and over, still trying over two years later. He just closes his eyes when he's had enough of me trying. He only goes for superworms, butterworms, hornworms, and the occasional silkworm or waxworm. He's a healthy weight (if anything, maybe slightly chunky) and I leave greens in his bowl all the time but he just never eats them. I've never been able to "sneak" it in his mouth either - he just spits it out! The only non feeder he's ever eaten was a couple of blueberries when he was younger LOL
Just a quick note: the colours of peppers MASSIVELY changes the taste. Greens are kinda….dull? It’s hard to describe, but they’re a very dull flavour. Yellow are salty, but very refreshing. Red have a wonderfully rich flavour. Orange is kinda half and half of yellow and red. Shocking, I know.

Tomato, both squashes, mango, pepper, and pear are all fruits :P
Use the red peper it has the most nutrients
I'm glad I watched this usually feed my beardie kale everyday
Be careful!!! Kale binds the absorption of calcium which can upset the phosphorus balance and lead to MBD
I love how the one just kept snapping at your hand but not opening his mouth he was like "hmmmm maybe I'll try this one... *SNAP* HAHA SIKEEE"
I let my dragon try them as well.. She LOVED them :)
Bearded dragons are so cute lol
I tried feeding my beardie a red pepper and he loved it 2 days later I try an orange pepper and he refuses it so I think colour must effect something as after I tried the orange I got more red pepper and he ate it perfectly fine
What kind was the lizard that made a special appearance near the end?
My beardie LOVES yellow squash, but not the others
Hey, I have a question. We own a bearded dragon named Puff, and he really likes attention. I would be working on the computer and he’d be scratching the side of his enclosure trying to escape or asking for a treat/food. Here’s the thing... he never eats from the bowl and only when WE feed it to him. Is this normal?
Could be by the time you get to the last items, they might be full?
If they grow with small seeds within, like tomatoes, or blueberries, etc. it’s considered a fruit! Although, squashes have seeds! So are they actually a fruit without searching?!! Curious!! 😁
"The last VEGETABLE we have here is a PEAR"
The yellow squash is actually crookneck squash
I have one beardie that goes insane for banana, another that love tomatoes
So cute!
The only non feeder he's ever eaten was a couple of blueberries when he was younger LOL
you should do another one with more fruits
When ever he tryed the squash it he waa like instant regret trying it
my beardie really enjoyed mustard greens
Just a quick note: the colours of peppers MASSIVELY changes the taste.
Greens are kinda….dull? It’s hard to describe, but they’re a very dull flavour.
Yellow are salty, but very refreshing.
Red have a wonderfully rich flavour.
Orange is kinda half and half of yellow and red. Shocking, I know.
I've never been able to tell a difference, maybe i'll do a blind taste test
Anyone ever wonder what song that is at the beginning

Kale is a staple food for a beardie mine loves but gets it all over is tank too
My bearded dragon loooves squash!
My sister's beardie viciously goes for blue berries.
“ Idk if there are multiple SpEcIes”

Mangoes are actually really good
pepper, and tomato are also fruit
