This is helpful, thanks! 1) How do you know how many times to move the toggle with your screwdriver? 2) And how far forward does the trailer need to go before the brakes are disengaged and the trailer can go backward again?
Hi, I watched your video, due to a noise coming out of the drum, it worked, it was a weekend, you saved me a lot of grief, with no mechanical background, just followed the instructions. Thank you
i have a trail rite trailer and only the front right keeps locking up after use of boatin salt water and storage for a few weeks! do i need to remove boat from trailer to adjust?
Michael L i live on the west coast so saltwater = rust, but just sitting over a long time most people back them up which engages the brakes and if you don't disengage them they will seize that way. Thanks for watching.
Nanaimo Timberwolves Thanks for the info, I thinks thats what happen to mine. I backed into my storage spot and didn't disengage it by moving forward before leaving it. Unfortunately, I drove with one side locked and ruined a new tire. I didn't notice till someone drove next to me and said my left side tire area was smoking. I was able to disengage it with the info you provided. I'm going to take it now to a local trailer place and have everything safety checked. Thanks again for the info.
You didn't tell me nothing I know how brakes work and I know these drums are froze on. I'm going to take a bfh to them. You probably don't know what a bfh. Is. That's the way I always had to unfreeze them. May break the drums. They got to be free. I just thought someone may have a trick.i got a lot of tricks. But I'm not going to put it internet because most time people ok you use a 10 mm on this. If I didn't know what size I need I wouldn't be doing. People that want to know have work on stuff. People don't know what size and not going to get dirty.
You saved the day for me with this video. I had 5th wheel trailer brakes that were stuck. Thanks so much!!
Thank you.
Thank you!!!!!
I followed these rules exactly without the wheels on, do you think it could be something seized inside the drum brake?

no, you should be able to adjust with boat on trailer. Make sure brakes are free after use ( move trailer forward to disengage brakes). Good Luck
What causes them to lock up in the first place?
Thanks
