TCL is honestly impressive to me, I feel like they kind of came out of nowhere in the past couple of years. Feel more comfortable recommending TCL at their prices than Samsung or LG to other people who aren't looking at the creme of the crop TVs
It would be a shame if they don't upgrade the processor, the C93 would be just about perfect if it had full uncompressed signal at 4K144hz. Weird, according to the HDMI Wiki you only need 39Gbps for 4K144hzHDR, so the full 48Gbps bandwidth of HDMI 2.1 should be doing 4K at 175hz. Display makers are leaving untapped potential.
I'll be honest. I like brighter. I'm not as much into reference accuracy. I definitely do appreciate the higher dimming zones though, hence I have a Samsung Neo G8 32" with its 1196 dimming zones. This is on a monitor size of 32" so its very concentrated. The question isn't if Samsung can do it, its just a question of when they do it and at what price point. I have high hopes for dimming zones, eventually it may match OLED while not having to worry about OLED burn ins and dimming procedures.
If you look at a TV-s set in a store with your eyes, you won't see a radical difference. The picture is depend on setting also and it is different in the shops. So these tests are good to help you decide. In many cases, even if the TV is better than other in terms of its parameters, there is a big price premium which is not worth the little extra.
Great review as always. Beware who are sensitive to PWM flicker. I suspect C93 has the same strange PWM modulation C83 does have. Eyes are really strained by flickering.

I thought it was too bright maybe so turned down the brightness, still didn’t work. Must have been the PWM flickering all along. Never had this on my previous Sony XH90

TCL TVs do surprise you sometimes with what they give you for a so called budget TV. I guess if they went all out with features they'd have to charge more for their TVs.

** Can you address why every OLED I have owned or even looked at has a distorted reflection effect when looking at it while off from the side. The screen almost looks wobbly and reflections are distorted like a fun house mirror. You cannot notice it from the front or while the screen is on, it doesn't affect picture quality at all. When I got my first OLED (C9) I thought it was damaged or detective so I went to look at the displays at Best Buy. Virtually all of them had this characteristic as have the two other OLEDs I have owned since. Is it the anti-glare filter underneath the screen? Whatever is causing it seems to be under the screen, not the screen itself. I really hope you will respond to this comment. Thanks
Is Local Dimming a faulty tech which only works in a certain scene and situation? Let says if there is 2 black bars at the top and bottom, the HBO wording is at the top right black area. I am seeing this HBO word getting dim from scene to scene for my TV, but the source suggest that this HBO word should be light up at a brightness level (if the local dimming is off) the whole movie. Is this normal? As this translate that the subtitle or some details will always be affected by the local dimming adjustment. Opposite of blooming, the local dimming will dim unnecessary areas, because dimming zones are at a much bigger size, which means its not working as intended.
Because of limited availability of the C935 and my old TV dying after a small bang, I choose to buy the 55C635 that was on sale for €400 with the idea to eventually move that to the bedroom and get a better one for the living room. But to be honest, I am quite impressed with the quality of the C635. Technology has improved drastically since I bought my 1600 euro LG TV in 2012. I don't want OLED as this technology will cause burn in, or suffer from ridiculous measures to prevent burn in so that you can never fully enjoy the technology without fearin the dreaded burn in effect. If you spend 2000 euros on a TV I don't want that to be an issue. I now am quite satisfied with the C635 and will wait for next years models or maybe even the year after that before I get my bigger TV for the living room as interesting improvements are most likely to happen with newer SOC's and maybe even finer miniled grids. Also Android TV 12 will bring an important feature that allows instant framerate switching (I hope that TCL will give an update to this version on the C635). Oh and TCL: the fact that the volume indicater will not disappear when you mute the speakers is simply stupid. I don't want to go through all menus to change the setting to ARC everytime I just want audio on my surround set. Luckily when you set the volume to 1, it is barely audible but I really hope this will be fixed with an update.
My A80K is here! I have a question regarding HDMI settings. I use an AV receiver (X2700H). My PS5 is plugged into the 8K/4K120 input on the receiver, and then Apple TV and Oppo 203 in the other inputs. Receiver out to HDMI 3 on the TV (8K, eARC, etc.). Should I set HDMI to enhanced or enhanced Dolby Vision?
I am totally lost now, especially because of this bright line on top of the screen. Which would you advise to go for size 65inch, C935 or Q80B? And is should i not consider QNED 86?

There's was nothing better available from Mediatek at the time the TV was produced. If you want a better Mediatek Chip all brands like TCL, Philips, Sony have to wait til next year.
@hdtvtest you had another video about this TV where you had an interview with the head of TCL Europe. Is it deleted? Now I cannot find it. After having watched that, this video of yours confused me. Any Help / Info will be Very much Appreciated !!
Is a Sony oled the best tv to buy then? I’m mainly looking for a tv that will show me what the director wanted me to see if whatever I’m watching. And if so, which Sony oled is best?
The Sony a95k (a qd-oled) will get you as close as you can get to a mastering monitor in 2022. It only comes up to 65” though. If you need bigger, the Sony a90j is based on an lg panel, but their second best tv for straight movie quality. The other option would be LG g2 oleds. They are better for gaming than Sony, but the Sony has a small advantage in movies.

I'd like a 27" version to use as a desktop monitor. Having to wait so long for decent 4K + HDR + VRR + no burn-in in desktop sizes. (OLED is already great for the sofa.)
Tempest gp27u
@@Zicrixdoesart I wrote that off due to not supporting VRR + HDR at once, but now I read they fixed it, which is good. But then I went looking for stores/prices and... it seems Cooler Master forgot Europe exists, lol. Oh well. Maybe one day.
when did yt fix the scrollbar? the only burn in i ever had is that red line and the blue ad button. at least they fixed the red line, that blue button is still here. thank god i mostly watch yt on my phone
Does anyone know if issues with light flood on top or other issues mentioned in video are fixed with FW update? Also what strikes me odd is that TCL claims on their site that all HDMI ports are 2.1, when in fact all evidence I can find points that only 2 ports are 2.1.
I sent u the question more than one time and you mentioned in tcl last video that 144 not working and need firmware update!! This time you didn’t say anything about it !!
That mean they will not fix the issue kindly respond
Dynamic tonemapping is always recommended to be off now?
I love the detail. This is wonderful stuff.
Can you do a video on TCL's "micro dimming"? I figure it is largely software controlled but is it any good at all? Or is it simply marketing gimmicks? How does it compare to FALD?
I recently returned a QN900B due to excessive blooming and it seems to be that the QN95B suffers the same. I have a QN94A which exhibits nothing like as much. So is it an across the range thing that Samsung have got horribly wrong with the B vs last year's A models?
I’ve got the 75" version. I paid 1600 euros for it and can honestly say that it’s a beast of a TV which nothing close to it at this price point of ever 500 euros more expensive!
Where? And when did you bought It at that price?

LG B1 77” OLED was 1799€ here. I’m not saying it is better, but it’s not worse.
@@kiisseli1337 b1? Is that 120hz 4k?
Thanks
2:23 What movie is this?
Oi mate, what is the closest thing to the Sony HX310? I mean from the 1000 dollar range tvs. Is it OLED?
Still no fix on the white line below the black bar in movie mode.
Curious as to how well these hold up over time?
TCL = The Chinese Liars
Thanks for the comparison but please can you help me decide between TLC C935 and HISENSE A85H in 65" please.
Should I set HDMI to enhanced or enhanced Dolby Vision?
offtopic: in one of your last videos you recommended HDMI-cables. I just can't find it anymore. Can you tell me the brand/model?
HI... Is this Better than the TCL C855 ??? Picture? color? Motion? Contrast? ECT
I am totally lost now, especially because of this bright line on top of the screen. Which would you advise to go for size 65inch, C935 or Q80B? And is should i not consider QNED 86?
Is there any image quality difference between the Samsung QN90B and QN95B? The 95B is just slightly more expensive, $200. Still on the edge.
What is the equivalent model number in the US? A friend is looking for a non-OLED 55" TV and this would be perfect.
I bought a cheap budget friendly LG 55UP7550. Is there anything I can do to make it better than what it is when it comes out of the box?
Hiya Vincent. Can you please do a video on game settings on this year's Samsungs and explain what the latest HDR settings in game mode are all about. X
hello I have a problem with the Samsung QLED 65" Q77T tv my son was playing in the service menu and now the picture is very dark and you can't enter the service menu anymore. Please help
Are you still in communication with Samsung on the S95B VRR and Game Mode HDR firmware issues Vincent?
Having a high respect for your insight, do you think Sony will produce a higher end 43" LED TV than the X85K in the near future, or is their focus in another direction? If not, I will purchase the current offering out of pressing need. Much thanks.
Talk about cutting corners. They do everything else right but skimp out on the processor lol
There's was nothing better available from Mediatek at the time the TV was produced.
If you want a better Mediatek Chip all brands like TCL, Philips, Sony have to wait til next year.
I would like to know what is your personal TV that you have at home. Surely that's the consensus you arrived to be the best tv
What is the difference between TCL R655 and the C835 we get in Australia (Google TV)
@hdtvtest you had another video about this TV where you had an interview with the head of TCL Europe. Is it deleted? Now I cannot find it.
After having watched that, this video of yours confused me. I was very eager to buy one, now I have second thoughts..
BTW why do you compare it to a previous generation TCL which is also a different size (65C83 vs 75C93)?
Edit: found the previous video
tcl UI and software is plagued with bugs/glitches. many TCL flasgship TVs still from 2019/2020 still have gone unfixed to date.
Can you do a buyer's guide for OLED TVs for Xbox Series X that would tick all required boxes on it?
I have the C83 and when connecting my HDMI 2.1 graphics card to HDMI 1, I cannot enable the Game Master. Would you be able to talk to TCL about this?
Scratch that, found everything, me dumb.
i was gonna go for the qn95 b over the sony x95k, both seem really good. thanks
What is the video called for this test, I want to try this on my qn92b
Wasn't dynamic tonemapping supposed to carry over the creative intent? Why is Samsung applying some kind of overbrightning on top of the tonemapping metadata? Just to look extremely bright in the store?
They're not. Their dynamic tone mapping just can't be turned off. They aren't adding anything extra
Hi Vincent, I picked-up my LG Oled 55 C2 the other day, it's Quality in both watching and gaming on my Xbox Series X BUT I know it can / should look even better with a tweak to some settings via calibration !!
I was wondering if you know of anywhere that shows the calibration settings that I could refer to / copy or would you be willing to calibrate my C2 for me.....Obviously, I'm willing to pay you, I would like to have my C2 showing the most accurate picture possible for both watching and gaming, so I thought I'd ask the best guy on RUclips !!
Any Help / Info will be Very much Appreciated !!
HI can you help me with Settings for the C935? i have 75"
Is a Sony oled the best tv to buy then? I’m mainly looking for a tv that will show me what the director wanted me to see if whatever I’m watching. And if so, which Sony oled is best?
A95K is the best 4K Sony TV
The Sony a95k (a qd-oled) will get you as close as you can get to a mastering monitor in 2022. It only comes up to 65” though. If you need bigger, the Sony a90j is based on an lg panel, but their second best tv for straight movie quality.
The other option would be LG g2 oleds. They are better for gaming than Sony, but the Sony has a small advantage in movies.
@@mrsittingmongoose yeah I knew about the a95k but it’s a bit expensive at this time so I was only looking at the regular oled models.
I’ll check out the a90j then. Ty
@@Anony.Mousse if the a90j is too expensive, you can look at the lg g2, then the lg c2, in that order. The lgs often go on sale.
Without exposure from the camera I'd bet the QN95B looks better. A shame the EOTF curve is fuckep up though
@HDTVTest Vincent can you please tell me what is the very best 55inch 4K on the market for my needs? 🙏 I only watch 4K discs, game on my PS5 & stream 4K content through the tv’s internal apps. Will streaming from Apple TV 4K look better then using built in app in TV?
Thank you for your amazing review! 🥳 Do you have your preferred TCL 935 HDR movie settings available anywhere? 😊
Sup boss ❤️ Where is my Philips 9636 review? Been looking on the 936 and 9636 to see which would be best for me. You only have a 1 year old ”presentation” on the tv. I only trust you on youtube, and LTT.
The blooming on the q95b is horrendous
How does it cómprate to the Hisense u8h?
Good video as always. Do you have a Samsung Qn95b video by itself? Thank you.
Is the c93 essentially the 6 series in the US? The r655 model?
No. The R655 is the C83. The C93 was supposed to he the 8 series in the US but apparently TCL decided not to release it.

Big manufacturers are trying to much to make the image look "better".
Has anyone calibrated their 75" C935? Looking for some advice please
Above 1000€ I'll always go Oled unless you have the TV exposed to sun from south. Picture quality on oled is on other level
@Hichem im on a e9 since release, its still ok.
Does the TCL TV hammers you with adverts? If not it may be another advantage over Samsung (and others).
Nope, never seen that.
Do you have a video on LG's delay on MLA?
Nice that you add pixel response time now 👍 It would be nice add ufo 🛸 test also to see how good tv really is in motion
Hi guys I would like to ask something. Is IPS and OLED TVs have difference in bright room except pixel response time?
IPS is LED

So basically skip TCL this year as well and hope for the next year models.
Maybe it's the camera or RUclips compression but at 1:05 personally I think that TCL looks terrible. Skin tones look orange and nothing like the reference monitor. I'd rather see them a bit washed out then have everyone look like they are from the Jersey shore.
@El Cactuar found the TCL owner
@El Cactuar The guy who's still correcting minor grammatical errors in RUclips comment sections in 2022... As if it's still funny and or matters.
