    A great review - to the point - of a nice whisky. I tried all kinds of Rum Cask matured whiskies over the last two years and the Teeling still comes out as my second favorite. Thumbs up for the sign btw.

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky
      @NoNonsenseWhisky  5 лет назад

      Thanks for that! I'm not that well versed in rum casks, but I'd have to say my favourite is the Balvenie 14

    • @ramyres
      @ramyres 5 лет назад +1

      @@NoNonsenseWhisky The Balvenie 14 comes in third for me. My absolute favorite is Mackmyra Vinterdröm. It is matured in Plantation Rum casks. It is the only whisky matured in rum casks where I would say you can guess the rum brand still as it is so unique in taste. Maybe also worth a try if you like the rum cask finish in general.

    I’ve had the odd pour of feeling over the years but not for many many moons.
    Just brought a bottle at £40 from a local liquor store, I know I’ve probably paid a tad too much for it but it’s not readily available round by me.

    Sounds like a good value whiskey with a bit more to offer for the price. It is about $40 in my area of he US versus $60 for their single malt. I'll probably try the single malt first. Thanks for reviewing both.

    Damn good whiskey. Popped a bottle of this with my dad and a family friend. Smooth, a little sweet, burn doesn’t overpower the flavor. A double of this is my gentleman’s choice for a relaxed night with good friends. Shame it’s not widely known in my area. Wish I could ask for it at my usual hangouts. Ordering it online is good enough for now though.

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky

      I don't tend to see it on shelves much any more either. I wonder how their stocks are doing

  • @sav7568
    @sav7568 4 года назад +1

    It's pretty tough for a whisky to contain a high malt content yet stay the cheapest in the range and this one is no exception because grain whisky is much cheaper to make than malt. Teeling are now ( 2020 ) saying that the blend is 75% grain and 25% malt. It's currently $33 in Boston and at that price represents great value for money. Teeling Small Batch would have to be the best of the base level Irish whiskies and well worth a try.

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky
      @NoNonsenseWhisky  4 года назад

      Man that's so cheap! I'd say it's about the same but in £ here. The really doing well with their value for sure

    Did you visit the Teeling Distillery when you went to Dublin? My favourite was the Pot Still from their standard range. Write difficult to get hold of now. The Brabazon 01 was also very nice.

    I enjoy this and the other Teeling expressions, but I can't help noticing a very common youthful piney note that I get in most Irish whiskeys. I preferred the single malt.

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky
      @NoNonsenseWhisky  5 лет назад +1

      Although im pretty sure this was double distilled, i think Triple distilling could bring those notes forward. In making it more delicate, those flavours come to the surface. Just an opinion though, no hard fact!

      @@NoNonsenseWhisky I couldn't comment further until now. My daughter was a bit fussy last night. I liked the Teeling Single Grain and their single malt. I've heard that The Irishman Founder's Reserve is very similar to the Teeling Small Batch, except it uses 70% malted and 30% unmalted potstill distilled whiskey (distilled separately, if I understand correctly). Might make for an interesting Versus review. At any rate, enjoyed the review. Cheers, Vin!

Teeling are just one of many... not that its bad stuff... realy nice for the price whiskey
