    The Reverend was fantastic in his concise explanation of the goal of Shin Buddhism. As a Shin Buddhist practitioner in the USA I have heard Sensei Akahoshi several times and have benefited greatly from his teaching. Again thank you for including him in your TV show.

      Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. Indeed Reverend Akahoshi explained Shin Buddhism in a way that anyone can understand yet in a very deep level. In our regular Carving the Divine show, we cannot go this deep. So, having a conversation with him was just a blissful experience!

    Shin is not about "accepting the moment" or "being open to life". It is about accepting Amida Buddha's transcendent gift of Shinjin or "perfect faith". "Perfect" because we do not create it, but rather, the Buddha creates it within us as a pure gift.
    This is why Shin eschews meditation and all other forms of self-power methods - because Amida's action makes them utterly unnecessary. We can do nothing for our own salvation and enlightenment. That's why we cast our karmic destiny solely on Amida Buddha.
    Amida is spiritual life and light, NOT a "symbol" of such. Amida is a living Buddha, not some signpost of an indifferent process that leads to enlightenment and Buddhahood. Sadly, the Reverend has fallen into modernist/materialist falsehoods, and, worse, he is disseminating ideas that are so utterly contrary to the teaching of Masters Honen, Shinran, and Rennyo that the Masters would not recognize the Reverend's weak, watered-down misrepresentations as at all associated with the authentic Shin Dharma.
    Amida is not a "reminder" that we are connected to each other (science and Paganism both have been telling us this for centuries).
    Amida IS our connection ... to Himself, and not just to each other, and certainly not to this samsaric world of attachment and blind passion that is unfolding in this dark age of Dharma Decline. Amida's light is a holy ray that issues each moment from His transcendent realm and slices through the fog of our samsaric purgatory to reveal His infinite compassion. Thus is Amida Buddha both "here" (immanent) and "more than here" (transcendent).
    No one is redeemed or enlightened by a symbol, a reminder, or a sign. Only a living Dharma-agent can do this, and for Shin, Amida Buddha is precisely and primarily that agent.
    Shin modernists have discarded the real Amida Buddha of the Masters for the fake, empty figurehead "Buddha-construct" of materialist-reductionist secular culture. This is the world's loss.

      Thank you so much for sharing your research and interpretation. Talking about the religious tradition is very tricky because there are always people who have different views, different interpretations, different background, different teachers, different research and so on. This is precisely the reason why there are many different kinds of Buddhist traditions around the world. While Buddhism travels different parts of the world it is inevitable that they change shapes and forms. Also we are different as individuals who interpret messages differently. The problem is that some people always come forward and say “I’m right and you are wrong” without taking any risk. You are welcome to express your opinion but please be respectful in our community. Please do not shame others. If you do not like it then please look for the community which always agree with your point of view. Respectfully.

      @@CarvingTheDivine Respectfully, I didn't "shame" the Reverend. I said he was wrong and in open contradiction of the Shin Masters. He is not describing Shin, but a fake modern version of it. No worries, though, I won't be returning.

    • @CarvingTheDivine
      @CarvingTheDivine  4 года назад +12

      @@stephenbastasch7893 Respectfully, somehow if you know what the “truth” is. What the true information is. So any interpretations and versions that do not agree with your belief is “wrong” We are not promoting this kind of right or wrong conversation in Carving the Divine TV. We might not agree with everything that everyone says all the time. But we try to create a space where people respect each other’s differences. I wish you could have found a different way to provide constructive criticism (which people would appreciate a different point of view) than just saying is fake and wrong. I wish you the best.

      U are right. U have to agree with u. 🙏 The whole time he didn’t talk about Amida’s pure land as a salvation for human’s endless rebirth in the sea of suffering. Amida is real. Not a symbol.
