    " Failure to plan on your does not constitute an emergency on my part." Definitely applies here. And when someone asks you to put it in writing before they do the 'task' means you better stop and look at the situation. Because smelly stuff is about to roll down hill.

    If the son in the last story is so capable, why can't his father arrange something with his employer? Oh, right, he has less clout than his son-in-law has.

    Last story - I really hope that Bill works out well on the job and can move out of his parents home! Perhaps he'll blossom on his own.

    That last story, that father and son are both delusional. How much do they expect to make when the kid has no training, knowledge or sense to be anything besides a low level employee.

      yeah, sounds like both of them have Delusions of Grandeur and think that they’re better than everyone else

      the son did atleast realise the alternative op mentioned was a good one. but yea defenitly some delusional in regard to beliving what type of job they would get. but it did sound its hope for him considering he was willing to try the alternative job op mentioned.

      And it doesn't even look like he knows how to be a low level employee if he thinks he would have been a bigwig with no skills.

      I didn't think that the son was delusional, just the dad. The son was just coddled too long by his parents, and I suspect that deep down he just wanted to get out of their clutches. The only thing that the son said that was out of touch was a mild complaint about his starting wage, and that was probably more due to a lack of real world experience than to full blown entitlement or delusion.

    Son dropped out of college not once but twice. Never held a real job. Yet he wants his son to be a project manager for an engineering firm because managers do nothing but sit at a desk all day? Why didn't the father get his useless kid a job working alongside him?

    Most people just can’t separate business from family/friends. My Dad owned his own small construction company in the late 90s. Fresh out of high school I was digging trenches and fitting pipes with the rest of the guys for the same wage as them. He actually made me do more than usual to prove to his guys there was no favoritism and to teach me a valuable lesson in EARNING your money like he did growing up. Didn’t appreciate it back then, but sure as heck do now! Thanks Dad!

    *Second Story:* Yeah, OP definitely works with government suits. "Paperwork is God," indeed. That bit about the polluted land also reminds me of how bass-ackwards government agencies can be. A disgruntled ex-employee jabbed a hole in a historic gas station/repair garage's diesel tank, dumping hundreds of gallons into the soil, and it needed to be cleaned up ASAP because it was right next to a drainage ditch that feeds into the sewers. County wanted to dig up and store the soil for tens of thousands of dollars and potentially damage said historic site, I suggested seeding oyster mushroom spores to detoxify the site for about $100 (bioremediation). Six months after seeding, the soil is even cleaner than it was before.

    The person in the first story learned the world doesnt revolve around her and is now paying more for child care. As to the second story that project manager is lucky to still have a job. As to the last story the fil is delusional. At least the bil is starting to come to his senses.

    It is clear from the phrasing in parts that the last story was from a non-English-speaking country. But it seems it would have to be European, since it used a meme of east European immigrants being semi-skilled (other highly developed areas would have some other group to disparage). Anybody know where the story is from? Just cudious.

    Second story makes me think of the time I got thermonuclear revenge on my dispatcher at a carrier. I was an OTR driver and deader than a deer on opening weekend in Texas that got shot in my logbook. I was at the yard getting my truck serviced and some needed repairs done when the FMCSA inspection team waltzed into the office and said full compliance audit on everything. Well I'm dead on hours can't move anyway as my truck is missing a wheel bearing and drum as their replacing a wheel seal. Out comes my dispatcher screaming at me to get off the lot and get going to Chicago right now or he's going to starve me out of there. I've literally got 2 federal agents and a state police officer who was going to inspect every vehicle on the lot behind me as he's in my face. The very nice looking woman inspector goes now who was that. I said my dispatcher Brad and no i can't leave as I'm out of hours and my truck is getting what they say is the only repair besides an oil change it needs. She goes he's does this alot I went yes every time we run out of time in the HOS he demands we run illegally both on the satellite and on the phone. I said i have his messages here screaming at me why don't I just run illegally to make my delivery faster. I went truck is governed at 68 but he wants 750 miles out of his drivers west of Lincoln Nebraska a day. She went we're going to hang his ass.
    He cost that carrier over 5 million dollars in fines and years of constant harassment from DOT officers. But their maintenance office didn't help that either. My truck alone that was being quote fixed that DOT inspector found 18 out of service violations that I had written up that they said were fixed that nothing was repaired on. I literally left them as soon as i had another job lined up.

    in the last story if I was OP I would have gotten up and said we're done here I going to put this in at the ministry of labor and good luck with finding a job because I won't be giving you one your father saw to that so blame him

      Then his wife would be mad at him. As it is the kid showed up at 7AM, hopefully he got to work and got his act together.

  • @mizu7662
    @mizu7662 9 месяцев назад

    'it only takes your wife 27 minutes to get here', so half the trip is 27 minutes. There and back is the actual whole trip and would come out to 52 minutes. They have to make it twice a day, once to drop the kid off and once to pick them up. That means they spend 104 minutes a day on this trip, roughly. Does OP think people reading the story can't do math and won't realize the woman is spending over an hour and a half a day on taking their kid to daycare if they limit themselves to mentioning only how long a one way trip takes? I know they were asking for unreasonable accommodations but that is no reason to downplay how much time a day they were spending on getting their kid to your service.
