Two quick notes:
1: This was filmed and added to RUclips 2 weeks ago but I forgot to set it as public so ignore the almost Easter comment...
2: The front of the slide is a fingerprint magnet like the back of a cell phone. I apparently smudged it like crazy centering it up for the camera. Sorry about that.

Great review! THanks man!
Always unplug the machine when taking apart and putting back together
This machine is obviously made for home use. If you want to slice some loaves of bread or ham or turkey it works fine. It’s not for commercial or professional use. Most people will find the machine quite adequate for use in the kitchen at home, but if you do large quantities of slicing, it will work, but not like the $1000 machines.
Thanks great video!!
Hi Joe, I just bought this slicer on sale and Amazon was offering a $10 coupon, so great buy as you mentioned. My slicer came with one serrated and one plain blade, like the one you use on your video. It has lubrication which looks like Vaseline, but I assume it's some kind of food grade lubricant. How often should it be lubricated and do you have any recommendations on a lubricant brand? Lastly, I'm a bit disappointed that you have to shut it down for 15 minutes every 5 minutes of use....again, for the price you give up some functionality and conveniences (not back tray). All in all, I'm looking to save some $ on deli meats which are more and more expensive and have too much salt...so this works for now.
A quite concise demonstration and all the information that I've seen about this machine nothing is ever mentioned about slicing turkey I wonder why that is never been listed like everything that I buy it at Amazon I have a 4 year warranty so if that plastic gear takes a vacation they're going to fix the machine or replace it I bought It to sliced turkey I imagine I could do that anyway I just don't understand why they never listed it because I have been making boneless turkey breast that's one of the reasons why I bought the machine so I can use it to do that makes sandwiches
The blade has grease in the plastic piece on back. Do I wash that? I’m
Have you tried cutting the raw meat frozen? I m trying to cut it very thin amd oh today Amazon doing promo for 106 and a coupons for extra 30 off too.. Really cant beat that price
I usually put red meat in the freezer for about an hour before slicing it for jerky or Philly cheese steaks. That way it firms up without being completely frozen. I haven't actually tried it fully frozen on this machine yet. I use my commercial slicer for frozen meat.
Have you tried other machines? If so is there one you would recommend for under $150 beyond this machine.. thanks
If u interested please PM me
Nothing I've found explains the proper usage of the serrated and smooth blade
They suggest to use the serrated blade on raw meats. That might make a difference in cutting it.
It was mostly due to trying to cut awkwardly around a camera tripod, and slicing a piece of ham that was so large it didn't quite clear the blade when pulled all the way to the leftmost position. Next time you stop at a deli check out their slicers. I don't know if I've ever seen a serrated blade on one. Serrated blades funny enough are better for bread (or tougher meats) ham is relatively soft. I don't even have a serrated blade for my commercial machine. But you're probably right on the company suggesting it for most raw meats. They're probably assuming more people cutting beef than lunching meat. I'd definitely suggest trying both and seeing what works best for you.
Got mine today it cut really well, but had the whole house smelling like an electronics fire in under a minute. Returning for a new one hopefully i just got a bad one.
Yikes, I hope quality control isn't a common issue and they sort that out for you. Mines still going strong but admittedly I only use it about 50% of the time because we do have a commercial slicer as well for larger projects.
@@averagejoelife6121 what commercial slicer do you use?
The higher end belt driven machines are the way to go. They are whisper quiet and well constructed. The flip side is you'll pay about $500 for it. I suspect people will buy this machine or a similar (the market is flooded with them) and be disappointed in the long run.
I think it really depends on what you need which is why there's machines at multiple levels. Not everyone needs a go to weekly use machine. Also storage is 100% a consideration. I have a commercial unit that is awesome and absolutely the go to when processing a large amount of meat. When I just want to make jerky or slice up half a ham the smaller size and way easier clean up makes me lean towards this machine more often than not.
What is the small black plastic piece that came in the box with it?
I think I read somewhere it is like a clip you use to hold the blade flat against the machine, for storage. Unfortunately, I threw it out before I read it. When I unpacked my slicer, I took it off and tossed it.
Super
Do some rump roast raw for 1/4" slices for beef jerky that's the test
Works great for jerky, just make sure you put the meat in the freezer for a few minutes to slightly firm up! I use this one for small batches. But this time of year I bring out the belt drive one I own to process way more way faster. This is definitely more small family/small batches for sure.
I would not be happy with that. The minimum machine I would get chefs choice 650
Looks poorly designed and constructed. That motor sounds like it's struggling.
I ordered this from Amazon and it is supposed to arrive on Friday. I’m not really going to use it for meats. Mostly vegetables, particularly for slicing thin slices of onion and tomatoes for my submarine sandwiches. Also to slice raw sweet potatoes to air fry. Since raw sweet potatoes are quite hard I’m hoping it’s strong enough to handle it. The reason I won’t be using it for slicing processed sandwich meats is because I cannot find slabs of it in grocery stores that are nitrate free. The only nitrate free cold cuts I can find are already pre sliced and packaged. Hopefully it can cut the onion slices thin enough for the subs.
You would have been happier with the Mandoline slicer. I have one from Amazon and it's waaaay less expensive. Mandoline Slicer for kitchen,Vegetable Onion Chopper, Potato Slicer Julienne Dicer Adjustable Thickness, for Salad Zucchini Carrots Onions and All Vegetables with Cut Gloves and Food Safety Holder
You can adjust the thickness of the cuts of vegetables you make. I use mine for everything!! Quite literally everything.
Let me bet- you have NOT used it in the while for your sandiches now., one year later.
It’s Too Loud!!!
I bought this and returned it after the second use. Total piece of garbage! Do not waste your money on it.
Interesting, what issues did you have with it? Maybe quality control isn't that great because mines been working fine, but I've only tested 1 unit it's a small sample size. Granted it's definitely not the same as my commercial slicer, but for the price it does small jobs with half the clean up for me.
Why don’t you just get the cheapest one on Amazon there’s one for about $40+ and review that that’s what everybody wants to see
