    you have to use a 150a dc breaker for the battery. it's on the side specification label on the inverter.

    I'll have 425 amp hours of batteries next Saturday...I think that'll be about right for the amp draw it takes to run my oven..I've got 340 amp hours now and it's almost enough lol ...probably be better when the rain goes away too but like you say there needs to be some amount of reserve because I might want a pizza when the suns not out...I think I'm just getting enough batteries now maybe. I can run small loads for days but a 1500 watt load it wants to drop voltage gradually which I hope the 2 more will kind of fix...I started with 2 in November and I have 8 now so I'm guessing I need 10...at least that's a good reason to get 2 more panels to charge them with...I guess that'll be May's project....I think at some point it all starts to work right...if I get to run my little AC some this year for free that'll be pretty cool ..I hardly used it last year but it'll be free now...lol

    Hello! I am new to this stuff and I has recently purchased a 3KVA 24 VDC inverter. I charge this with 4 solar panels and this seems to work great. Unfortunately, I have a problem when trying to charge the batteries using my generator!!! I am on a 240/50 HZ system here in France and ...NUMBER ONE: I get input/output readings of 260/270!! (It is like the batteries are actually ADDING to the input/output!!) NUMBER TWO: The batteries do not actually charge...in fact....using the generator in the circuit seems to drive the batteries down to the low voltage cutoff and the inverter then shuts off. Any suggestions/opinions regarding setpoints and/or how to program this inverter properly would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, Anton

    You need a 100amp fuse. Between the battery and inverter. If the inverter is 2000watts. Then 2000÷24volt battery=100 If. 3000watts inverter. Divide it by the battery volt. 3000÷24volt battery=125

  • @henvan8737
    @henvan8737 3 года назад +2

    Nick you battery voltage appears very low. Fully charged the voltage should be if using AGM battery's around 28.8 volts. Each battery appears around 100amp hours so you have 2 battery,s in series and 2 banks in parallel. So that 28.8 volts is 200amp hours. Regarding DC fuse between the battery and inverter. If you want to draw the whole 3kw from the inverter you will need a 125 amp fuse. Your programming is not correctly set. The MPP inverter are a very nice product once correctly fused and programmed correctly.

    • @immrnoidall
      @immrnoidall 29 дней назад

      NOT A GRID TIE. These are an UPS, INVERTER/ CHARGER, WITH A BUILT IN SOLAR CHARGE CONTROLLER ALSO.Has separate AC IN AND OUT, AND solar input. also has connection to turn a generator on,if there is no house power or solar power or charged batteries. all in one . uses and charges batteries. it's the coolest thing going . this model is still only 300 bucks. BUT. it is said to be only for lead acid batteries, but I've been using lifepo4 for years with no problems. the voltage requirments are the same. These only have PWM solar charge controller, which is no big deal with only 6 panels in good sun. But you can also, or instead, use any other MPPT solar charge controller to charge the batteries, if you want.

  • @95sirak

    Hi Nick how are you doing? So I recently purchased the exact same inverter but I have some issues with it so I'll try my best to explain. So I live in an apartment and needed an inverter to power on my home appliances whenever we get power cuts. The inverter is connected directly to the grid panel that controls all the power in my apartment. What we tried first was connecting the AC input to the main fuse/switch of the grid and the AC output was connected to a separate fuse in the grid panel that was not in use. So while the main power/primary source was on, the inverter was charging and once it was full, I noticed the red fault light blinking. One day the power went out and the inverter showed an error 5 code. The system was unable to switch over towards the inverter in order to provide power to the apartment. So then once the power came back, I switched the inverter back, it went back to charging and the fault started flashing yet again. For some reason, when the power goes off naturally, it isn't switching over to the inverter so that the inverter can provide power to the grid. The only time when it does work is when we manually shut off the grid entirely and once we turn on the grid manually, the inverter switch over to the main power supplied by the grid and starts charging again. I also have to mention that I did configure anything in the programming so maybe that could be the issue but what are your thoughts on my situation? Hope to hear back from you. Thank you!

Example: 400W output and battery's are almost dead? I had a very bad experience with this case since my inverter went unstable and has blow up some electronics causing fire ...... I have seen this system on you tube with the same extension cord into wall socket configuration, so I am not sure why 'eveybody' seems to be ignoring the manual!?
    Also, quoting the manual again: this inverter/charger should be connected to a permanent grounded wiring system'. I cannot see this clearly in your video. How did you go about it?
    Thanks in advance!

      Hi. I have the exact same question as yourself. Manual says it needs a seperate breaker for the AC input. Perhaps they mean you need a breaker if your plug does not have a fuse, or if your inverter is wired directly to your homes consumer fuse box?

      @@klausschwab4019 This goes deeper than I thought. Reality is that most people on you tube either don't really know what they are doing, or they are taking a bit of a risk. At the moment, in my situation, I am not going to add AC input because it seems to be too much hassle to do it safely (and I don't understand the issues fully, anyway). 'All in one' inverters with AC input are a new thing, and even local electricians don't know how to deal with it. Main issue seems to be the earthing/grounding arrangement.
      Best resource I have found is Rolland W's channel and specifically the playlist about earthing inverters. I have also written some comments there that may help you.

      @@headphonekiller5 Thanks for the reply. I think with the small 1kv version I have it already has a fused plug. Where it asks you to add a breaker in the manual Im pretty sure its referring to the plugless versions that therefore dont have fuses and thus you need to wire it to your consumer box and add a 10A breaker. Thats what I think it means anyway. My version comes with a plug with a 13A fuse, this is obviously sufficient.
      How do you charge your battery without AC input? You cant really use this device for its intended purpose without AC input?

    • @headphonekiller5
      @headphonekiller5 Год назад

      @@klausschwab4019 Sure, I may be overcomplicating things, and you could be right. My system didn't come with a fused plug, but it'd be easy for me to attach it myself. However, for what I have read, this is not good practice (for my system anyway).
      I'll be charging the batteries with the solar panels of course!
      Let me know how it goes with the AC input plug, or if you find a definitive answer at some point please.

      @@headphonekiller5 I am not an electrician but I have some experience with electrical work, fitting breakers, fitting electrical showers etc. under supervision from a qualified electrician. I always make sure I know exactly what I am doing before I do anything electrical but I am not qualified to give advice, but this is what I think the manual is asking for, and people should only use this as a guide to find the right answers elsewhere, I wouldnt trust some idiot in a youtube comments section.
      My system is a smaller system, the inverter is only the 1KV system which comes with a plug you can plug directly into a normal plug socket, the plug is obviously fused and so will blow if the unit tries to draw more than 13 amps.
      I believe the larger inverters do not come with a plug which I can only assume is because the power is larger and so they need to be wired properly with the correct gauge of wire to your consumer box with a proper breaker switch, which would make it much safer than the plugged system, but of course the 1KV system doesnt need to be that safe because it is lower power, this is my lamens understanding of it.
      Bear in mind Im an idiot and I briefly considered splitting the plug wire in half and putting the battery breaker in between the plug socket and the inverter, thats how confused I was, this wouldnt have been dangerous as long as the breaker was never touched, ofc its ridiculous and hence why I didnt do it, but thats what it seemed to ask in the manual lol.

    Hey, Okayyyy i'm convinced to buy one. Bye the way about you're fuses .....
    It's P = U x I so 2kW should be like 2000 / 240 = 8A fuse for AC output. 2000 / 24 = 80 A fuse for de battery
    But good job, at last somebody is explaining objectively and testing most situations who can happen.
    I hear a lot of people complaining that the inverter is not working any more after two months? So how long are you using yours? Is it still ok, are the battery's happy?

      I have read through the manual from cover to cover but I couldn't find anything on the voltage when the system restart after it shutdown when the voltage is low. I observed that even when the battery voltage has risen to 26V the inverter is still didn't start. I have to manually start it by switching off and on the main switch. Another problem is when I hookup the generator it keep flipping the output between the battery and the generator. Everytime it flip you can notice the switching over from the generator and the battery. Very annoying. I don't know why it cannot power the load by the generator alone. Another observations, it's not charging the battery.

    Ok I bought this solar inverter and i would be good to know the following for people who are thinking to do so as well.
    - The battery connections at the bottom of the inverter are very close and can cause fire when having a short circuit.
    - But most important ..... don't let this inverter work with AC backup since it can not guaranty a solid 230-240 Volt when the battery goes under 21V. At that moment the inverter goes on en off every second witch can cause damage at you're devices, certainly when the voltage starts to swing between 190V till 210V. At that moment the inverter should just stop with working. (I had fire once with a light dimmer who exploded in that situation)
    - You should have extra fuses, diff switch and over voltage checking system at the output of this inverter.
    If you have a AC backup there seems no problem since the inverter will connect to AC when the battery is low, and it will wait till the battery is fully charged again. A extra security to cut off the output with manual reset, when the battery is lower than 22 V would give me more peace of mind.
    it looks as a good inverter and does what it should do, but be aware this is not a plug and play device.
    Hope you like this positive feedback. Cheers
