I feel your pain my friend. A short story for you. I work snow removal during the winter here in Canada. First winter storm of the year in 2015, 11 inches of snow, our old 2002 Case 580SM blew one of the steering hoses at the front axle less than one hour into the shift. After clearing my own route and 16 hours of non stop living the dream. I went and removed the hose got a new one made within minutes of the last shop closing for the night (around 2am). Now, unlike your blessed, beautiful shop, I had to replace this thing on the side of a city street, in a foot of snow, in the lovely tropical weather that is Canaderp. No less, with a hose stiffer than a honeymoon... you get the point. After friggin around and damn near completing the self destruction of my own competence, I let out one last go and twisted that hose onto the threads. And there it was, fixed and living. I was the only one left working, all my employees had gone to bed. I ran that 580 and completed the operator's route on top of mine, 33 hours in total, it was one of my greatest moments running my own business. There are certain sacrifices worth more than any balance sheet could show you. I really appreciate your work, the smallest victories are always the most rewarding.

i just started watching your videos and they are great. I think that your cause of bringing light to the farming community to the world of social media is a great idea. The main reason i am commenting on your video is because i am sure that you paid a small fortune for the hose, why not make it yourself? There are many company's that would sell you all you need to make the hoses for your tractors. We actually have a setup where i work since we cannot afford to be down for a few hours as a shop makes another.

Story of my life. If need to just move some tractor out of the way, say 2min "job", i have to start by fixing my tools, after i have searched them for some two hours, yeah then fix them some 5 hours and then i can begin the engine rebuild of that tractor because of course the crankshaft is broken just then. So.. after some week or two of 200h of work, i get to move it that 5 meters out of the way. This goes for everything. lol.

A few decades ago, my dad and I were feeding cattle on one of those -20F North Dakota days using a JD 4020D with a Du-AL loader. A loader hydraulic hose broke. But there was no spraying of oil...rather, the oil oozed out of the broken hose like cold tar, or maybe cold tooth paste, in long strings like you would get out of a spray string can. The Du-AL loader had its own hydraulic reservoir, and my dad used to add some gasoline to the loader's hydro oil during those cold winter seasons just to get the oil thin enough for the loader to function. As far as the extra hose in the video, perhaps cut it in the middle and add a union...that would give the hose another degree of freedom to twist...and then you have a spare!

Shouldn't JD take back the hose they improperly resized and not charge you extra for the 2nd hose? You brought them the hose for sizing, it was their job to use whatever hose and connectors they had to replicate the hose, if they failed to do that, well then they shouldn't charge you for it.

I'm not a farmer, but I so feel your JD pain.
I rent a friend's familial home, maintaining it after his dad died. there are about 5 acres of land that needs to be managed.
It came with a 1986 JD 300 lawn tractor..poorly maintained to boot..
In ten years i have spent over 200 hours working on the dang thing.
We have a saying.. "Nuthin' stops runnin' like a Deere.."
    thanks for all youns do!

CLEARLY your definition of 'not doing anything all day'' and MY definition of 'not doing anything all day' are COMPLETELY different.

Dam hydraulic lines....very typical rendition of a fix....usually the dealer says "we need the old one to match to be perfect"....NOT!
Loved the Mario music. Great video! 👍

Glad you and your family are safe up there . Sorry about your broken hose . I got the 3 remotes on my 4440 fixed last week ( they were leaking bad ) . $800 , new seals and dust covers , it could have been worse. Thanks for your videos 👍🏻😀

Can go $15 for the longer hose, but need a new Midwest Equipment Jacket too. Size XL.
You are fixing problems, so the day was not a complete waste. It just feels that way. Enjoy your family.

Great update thx!! I m excited for the new draper header! You must be too at least you were when you tested it during harverst.
I know its stupid to compare but I had to smile at your snow problems when we have up to 7 Meters (23 ft) of snow here in Austria. There are actually helicopters trying to blow fresh fallen snow off of the trees along the high ways so they won't break and block everything.
    Crazy here.

Yeh; That's why I would get in my c10/actually K10 and start plowing. Or put my 8 foot fisher on the bucket of my Case 870 and get her done.

Seems very energy consuming. Everybody around here plows, and many farmers have plows for their trucks and tractors to do contract work over the winter while you can’t do anything with your fields.

We got a wet snow and rain a couple weeks ago here in Isanti, MN. Right now most driveways are like a skating rink. No sun, no warm weather to even try to melt it..

Don't be misconstrued. The size of the hose DOES matter.
Just ask any woman that knows how to tell the truth. LMFAO
The rest of 'em are only around for mechanical work or cash flow.
    The women, I mean.
The tractors could care less. They're always loyal and dedicated to work.

You need a snow plow on the front of one of those big tractors. So much faster and will push more than you think.

Degelman makes a nice loader mounted snow pusher and what's nice about them is if you start having traction problems in deeper snow you can curl The Pusher back and pick up on it some and you will actually be in a weight lifting the snow which will put traction on your front end and you'll be able to push a lot I would put a strong recommendation on getting a snow pusher
