I used to fantasize about this game when I was a kid. I was like 5 years old when my brother told me his friend had this game and I would always go eBay and just look at the cover of the game dreaming of having it one day. Lol
I can relate lol
i had it straight from japan (jp version) and had my console modded to play it, but it would only accept the disc once every 50 tries, still played the shit outta it
Same here (born in 91) I got lucky when a store named Pandora’s Cube came out in 2000 they were able to mod your PlayStation to play foreign titles, it also gave it the compatibility to play burnt discs.
Lol same
@@bishplis7226 my ps1 is also modded i play dbz ultimate battle 22
damn brings back memories. Back then these graphics used to rock. Looking back after all these years it's incredible how game development has advanced!
@1location 2location hell nah
They look much better on a crt, older games usually do, and look worse on modern monitors and screens
4:57 Freeza "This move!!"
5:03 Freeza "Too big!"
lol u jus made my day my mahn
しょうもない空耳すこ
The Jump between the voice languages Lolol... Wow Lmao
😂😂😂
Came here to say the same thing 😂
Lol, they must have been raised in America but speak Japanese in the house.
This game is my guilty pleasure. This vid brings back a lot of good memories.
Why call it a "guilty pleasure" when it can just be a pleasure?
@@imfsresidentotaku9699 Because it's a dogsh!t fighting game, let's be real.
Back in the day, these graphics were insane and I used to dream about this game all the time. Back then, PlayStations were as easily accessible as now so my friends an I would go to a game store to play this game
They weren’t insane in the slightest. At this point, Tekken games were already out, and they had much better graphics and animations. This game sucked ass, with the soundtrack being the only redeeming quality z
@@davion4777 Who hurt you?
@@Dougdimmadingleling He's just stating the fact. Its not insane. Its good. Remember, Vagrant Story exist.
@@user-xb5ov6ol4k Ive literally never played this game a day in my life, i just know when someone shares something sentimental to them, the person who applies their negative superiority complex to get over a point on it is probably just hurt and doesn't have enough to validate themselves in real life. What, did giving this guy that information really benefit him or anyone? No lol, guy is still gonna have his memories of this game and hold that. He did it simply to tell him he was wrong and that he's right. As if that matters when you go about everything wrong LOL.
@@Dougdimmadingleling the game is still shit 😎
RIP AKIRA TORIYAMA
Everyone else: Kamehameha
Cell: homehomeho
rather this than homohomohomo
Watching this takes me back to my primary days. I remember back then when I was a kid infront of our house there was a Playstation rentals and the owner allowed me to play everyday for FREE ☺️
También fui de los que jugaban gratis en centros de alquiler de juegos 😄 aunque también tenía uno en casa (hablando de la PS2). El tiempo en el que éramos felices y no lo sabíamos 😪😶
I had an import copy of this game growing up along with the Game Shark thing for PS1 that let you play Japanese games. I thought this game was the most badass thing ever made as a kid. Looking back I can't believe I even tolerated this lol
I had the exact same import with gameshark , looks ridiculous now but it was awesome back then.
Bro I had the same thing. And you had to have the spring to keep the lid open and use an american game first and then hurry and put this one in lol. Sucked so bad.
Bro, it's yearsss ago lmao. Ofc for us back then is the most badass thig
@@arealOg8o6 No, it still looks awesome.
The reason you "can't believe" that is that you didn't have unreasonably high standards back then. But give it time and you'll realize that kid you who played this game was a genius.
In a universe where final flash is blue and kamehameha is yellow. Game was a banger tho.
My first experience with this game was on a PlayStation that had to have a special attachment just to play the game because it was in Japanese. Also, I love the fact that the voice overs were done by actors and actresses that didn't even remotely sound like the original people, yet the actual gameplay voices were in Japanese
I had that same type of PlayStation but my brother stole it and sold it to some fuck at his school 😡😡😡
That’s how I remember playing this game it was all in Japanese. I got it from Mexico and had to use the attachment that went into the back of the ps1 along with the spring that would go inside the tray. This game was played heavily by me, my bros and all our friends. This was the only dragon ball game we knew of at the time and really loved it.
Same!! I iidn't understand sh*t but had so much fun!
I still own this version of the game. Had it for 23 years
I remember going to see some of my family in Mexico one year, and just talking about this game and how much I wanted to play it. The next time I came by, I brought the PlayStation and my cousins modded it. I played the fuck out of this game. It was so surreal the first moment I was able to boot it up. Great memories!
Man... That's really all we had back then. I remember this game was the absolute best thing for me. It's almost funny to see how primitive it was compared to the games we have now like Dragon Ball Tenkaichi, Raging Blast or FighterZ.
This was the holy grail for me as a kid.
I caught glimpses of it in magazines..and heard about it thru friends
I never could find a copy of it anywhere in the UK.. so a thing of myth it remained for me
Never could get baby vegeta as a playable character
Man, brings back some amazing memories 😄
God I love this game. I don't like fighting games, so I only ever played DB games for their aesthetics. This game is so precious because it's the only DB game of its era to have 3D graphics. The character models have so much charm to them, it's criminal that we'll never see a game that looks like this ever again.
Really? xD
*throws spirit bomb at someone*
Goku: “You’re not as strong as you said”
Happy 25th birthday DBGT Final Bout!
Bro just unlocked an almost forgotten memory thank you
I played with super Saiyan 4 Goku and super kid Goku all the time the combos was fire
The only thing I understood during gameplay was "Kamehameha" as a kid, because I did not realize they REVERTED BACK TO JAPANESE DURING BATTLES!
i learned a lot of japanese this way, i just never knew what it meant
Glad someone still play this game. Vegetto is my main.
I play this every now and then for nostalgia purposes
Oh yeah "Vegetto" because of the English dub
the super attacks in this game felt strong because of all the windup and the sound effects, even though if the graphics lacked a bit.
4:57 " hehehe yaaaspuuuuuutttt ! "
5:13 "That was fun its been a while since I've had this much excercise. "
Why does Piccolo sound like shadow the hedgehog lmao
Sounds more like Jack Nicholson to me.
I remember renting this from video plus as a kid. The memories
Never got to fully play this game and all the characters but it was ahead of its time. Needs a remaster with better everything
I remember I had an old beckett magazine when I was really young and one of the pages was showing ps1 games and had this game had me so hyped because I wanted to play it so bad but never got to until I got older.. probably would have been more fun as a child but was still hyped to have it as a purchase.
It's so crazy that they let the fans choose the characters in the game. That's why you had 6 Goku's and 3 Trunks.
Now this was a fine DB game ! In the initial screen you can press 9 Times Square and eleven times triangle(I GUESS) and you unlock all characters and the screen of the beginning change for Goku SsJ4.
I had the japanese version of this as a kid, had to use a special piece that pushed down the button to spin so you could use the white disc that would then have you put in the game after so it would run on the american ps1.
Yes I couldn’t remember how the mechanism worked exactly. All I remember was opening the top of the ps while the disk was still spinning and putting one in and taking one out haha
The character artwork & carried this game... & *Hikari no willpower* ❤️
I had no idea what I was doing gameplay wise 😂
No one of us knew what a gem this was …
I still remember the cheat code you input in the beginning to unlock all the characters
I remember there was a cheat code for DBZ Ultimate Battle 22 to unlock characters
I remember having to buy the second disk and the little spring for the PlayStation to keep it running in order to play this game ❗️❗️🤲🏾🤲🏾
i remember doing meteor battle with my friends until joysticks are broken
First game I played in Playstation. How fast the time flies....
I liked how this game would progressively make moves you used a lot much stronger. I had kid buu do his little arm/ball attack that did so much damage.
the music of this game and ultimate battle 22 goes so hard
just the music gives me goosebumps bro
I was like 6 or 7 years old when i play this game 😭 now im 25 and damn this brings back memories 😭😭😭😭
I remember playing this is as a 5 year old and having no clue how to pull off counters or do anything passed basic attacks. Shit was second hand and had no instruction booklet either. Ahh the good old days
I have both the Japanese and US versions of this game when the game came out... Too much hype for such a limited game. I also own Ultimate Battle 22
It was the only DB game to play thats why.
@@justinholloway5210 I know, I first owned the Japanese version, cause I had to key adapter for my PS1 that allowed me to play Japanese games. Then I bought the American version thinking it would have anything different... So only some voices and music and that was it. But I fondly played this in competitions just to have fun with friends.
I'm shocked at the graphics, in my memory they were super realistic lol
Best OST in a DB game. I would even compare it to the anime quality of music. And given that the intro was composed by the classic songwriter and performers, this is an absolute beauty.
That soundtrack is golden
I love how every camera angle for firing every projectile has been designed with surgical precision to ensure that you can't see shit
Best character build system ever created.
I remember buying this and ultimate battle 22 at Walmart for $20 memories 🙏🏽
Same lol I remember the coverart for ub22 was FIRE. They had a code for ssj3 goku I think, and then I took it home popped it in my console, and damn near vomited.
@@WavyJayZ Then you must've had a preexisting condition that you can't blame on the game.
@@imfsresidentotaku9699 this game was trash😂😂
Firet i wanna say that gokus voice fits weirdly well also the graphics, the simple look rlly tivkles my brain in a special way they look so cool
One Day those graphics will be appreciated as black n white movies are nowadayas !
I’m glad to have started by DBZ Budokaï 1, 2 and especially the 3. ( The 3 was SO AMAZING.🤩🤩🤩)
Why the hell don't they have more of the GT characters tho 😔
Right it would’ve been better to see more characters. That’s probably also another down fall
Cause it was never a GT game to begin with. Also it was released when GT was still airing. Maybe if it had a sequel we would get Super 17, Omega Shenron, Vegeta SS4 and Gogeta SS4 that would be cool.
I played the Demo now this character selection is awesome
If this was your only exposure to Dragon Ball, Buu and Baby are the only characters who would even come across as evil.
Oh you can tell Budokai was the next game looking back. Like the graphics were almost like budokai but not quite lol
Omfg 1 of if nottt the best dragon ball games of all tyme xenoverse 4 or any future dragon ball games should b bought off this gt goku n super gt goku was my guy.
This was my 3rd game about at ps1. Very good game for its age and when I found the secret codes was the best game to play with your friends.
Fantastic game..so many memories
Holy hell GT was that old to get a ps1 game? Crazy
I remember spending a LARGE amount of money as a kid to buy this game. (A good $100+) enjoying it for 10 seconds, then regretting I bought it. Of course it was off ebay. Seems some listings are still going for the range I quoted. (100+) Wish I still had my copy as I'd gladly rip it for historical purposes, and then sell it.
I think where this game failed is because it was using the same overall mechanics as super butouden 2 and 3, but scaled back and in 3D. SB 2 and 3 were awesome on the SNES. But don't really scale well when taken to 3D. Plus, the super transitions were done FAR better on SB 2/3. As they were made into cutscenes which entirely cut to the character doing the action. Even if they were only half screen. (Pretty much if the screen was near separating, it did the full screen cutscene. Otherwise the supers were just made into balls instead of beams.)
Did this game have beam struggles? Can't remember. I see the "countered" window. Similar to SB2/3 (even though those two games never showed the time window. You just knew after playing for a few.)
Yes it had beam struggles. That's what this game turned into most of the time - pressing triangle the fastest
the english voices succ lol
Not gonna lie... I had a Mod PS1 and ripped a copy of this from my friend who bought it on eBay for his collection. Not a bad game for the time I suppose.
This was the slowest fighting game i've ever played, which is very ironic, because the anime had some of the fastest movements in anime history...
Crazy how goku adult goku is voiced by the steve blum 😊
Piccolos theme goes too hard.
One of the best moments of my childhood was when i was about to rent a copy of this and DOA 2 from Blockbuster. They ended up Region Locking both of those games during their initial run, and we had to use an emulator or Game Shark to play the Japanese versions. Horrendous.
Can imagine if they remade this game using the super dbz gameplay?
If they remade this game I would buy it 💯🗣
I played this all the time with my dad. He used to always do the cheat to unlock super saiyan goku 4 for me
This was the db game to have before budokai if you were an american. As a kid in the late 90s i always went to funcoland(before they were GameStop) hoping to get this game only to be told they were selling it for outrageous prices due to being rare. It got reprinted in the mid 2000s but by then no one cared cuz budokai was out lol
Love your content my friend does the same type of thing with all the classics keep it up man
We are all 30 or near no? XD
@@rafaremuzgohidalgo im 29 almost 30 lol
@@TabbzManiaGaming 28 here XD
30 in July lmao
Me and my brother so how convinced our mother to order this for us. We got it (for PlayStation 1). We were so hyped it had finally arrived. We put it in the console and bam. It didn’t work. It was the Japanese version of the game. So we then had to order a special disk that we’d put in first then we would open the system and put in the dbz game. We played this shit everyday after school till bed time.
i miss playing this game in arcade.
Those voices XD
Menu/post-battle voices are in English, yet the battle voices are in Japanese.
super vegeta sounds like doctor eggman when he says "I won't let you interfere"
@@mahiru20ten😂😂
first time i saw 3d graphic so phenomenal.. BGM so awesome if compare to supernitendo sega dll that time
there is a myth in this game.
you can use baby vegeta in player 2 battle with fat buu.
that is what my classmate before tell me when we play this game.
I remember when I was in school there were rumors of a cuss code in mortal kombat.
Smells like childhood...
Also somehow for some reason reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbbiden Memories xD
dat aee yuubee!! kaameehaamee....i forget was spectacular.
People shit on this game way too much but not realize that it was somewhat revolutionary and ahead of its time
Can someone explain why Super Saiyan 2 Trunks existed back then in this game? Thinking of it, I do not see any reason why he would.
It is not Super Saiyan 2
Ahh... me and my friends used to play this game for hours just to see who can inflict the most "meteor" against who lol
Back then, my friends and family like to play this game together. But today, i play DB Fighterz with strangers online because my friends and family don't play Fighterz.
Can’t believe I thought these were the best graphics in the world when I was a kid lmao
Hmmm no menu music, how surprising! I never heard of this game until now. It’s wild how long it took for me to run into dragonball games. They were on PAL Super Nintendo, then PlayStation 1… finally got to em on the GameCube
Oh god the voice acting
The last main series Butouden game from the era of the original run.
I love how fast Gohan uses his super
Vegeta: hmm that was ridiculous.
Me: yes vegeta...yes it was.
I never encountered anyone who had this game, it was so damn rare, that i thought this game didn't exist as a kid, looking at this, how do you Even play this game lol
Gotta be honest here, I hated this game back in the day but i only played it because I liked Dragon Ball.
Not the Steve Blum Goku, lol
When ultra instinct and ultra ego weren't a thing.
Anyone who played this shit knows Vegeta was the best in this game he was ON SMOKE , Also I fucking love the intro of this game it was so intense. Lastly I was so young when I used to have this game but did anyone else use to get scared when they had to fight baby in the boss battle at the end😅
cell doing the super: "ho mi ho mi hoo" xDDD
I remember this game for the longest time was $100 at FuncoLand
this game just destroys a lot of controllers back in the day
