- Ready for a workout? Come with me as I climb up the inside of Torrey Pines on my 2007 Specialized Allez Comp. Don't mind the heavy breathing (it's not that kind of video).

fantastic
Thanks! I live in pb, was gonna try to ride to Encinitas…I am planning to go down N Torrey Pines Rd…seems fast…but will probably use this route back, I don’t know why but I get nervous going slow uphill with cars zipping by…still got to deal with Gilman Dr tho
This looks awesome. I'm scoping out some routes for my visit to Mission Bay this Spring, this video was super helpful!
One of my favorite local climbs. Thanks for posting.
Has anyone else seen the new 2-way (aargh!!!) bike lane on the main Torrey Pines Rd east of the park? About 5 years ago they banned northbound / downhill cycling on the inside park road, where this video was filmed, and cyclists have always used the shoulder on the east (northbound) side of the main road, but now some very fast downhill folks are literally almost brushing (or head-on colliding) with cyclists climbing the main Torrey Pines in the CORRECT direction.
Are you sure that's two-way? I haven't ridden it yet but every time I've driven up Torrey Pines recently I assumed that it was one way (slow bikers on the right, passing on the left). And I do believe there is still a bike lane on the southbound side.
Oops, I meant northbound not southbound.
Fortunately, you are entirely correct. It is now marked as two uphill/southbound bike lanes -- nice!
I went today ! Tough
good one Thank you👍
Excellent vid !
What gears are you running? 11-32?
I am not sure what he uses, but the bottom gears on my road bikes are 42/26 and 38/23, with 700Cx28 tires. Not super-easy, but quite doable without either zig-zagging or getting off and walking partway. I sometimes stand part of the way, but usually remain in the saddle.
